  1. I'm not sure ...but its possible. Gonna do some diggin'...see if I can find anything.
  2. That looks like it might be right at the top edge. Well, that's not as bad as having a bubble centralised.
  3. Another thought occurs When viewed from outside the car. Look closely at the sensor area...its something like 40mm x 25mm. Is it a completely solid black colour? If you see any silvery patches in or around the sensor that can contribute to it misreading. The sensor screen, the gel pad and windscreen all have to be in perfect contact with no air bubbles visible.
  4. Looks correct. If you push the stalk 'up' it does one wipe. The stalk does not stay up it auto returns to the rest point....kind of 'off' point if you will. Down one notch is auto/intermittent Down another notch is 'continuous' wipe Down another notch is 'fast' wipe. Mmmm ...... should an old bloke be doing stuff like this from memory??
  5. Yes, this can be pretty effective from time to time. When the product is already discounted and you get the 50% on top it makes it a good deal. I nabbed some 18" Bosch at £3.50 each for the missus' MX5.
  6. I’ve seen it reported that disconnecting the battery has worked for some.
  7. Well, there’s a thing!!! Just went out to the garage to measure the the bulbs I removed when I put my LED bulbs in...the festoon bulb is 36mm
  8. Amazing what you can dig up on the net. Where is the Lexus automatic rain sensor and how does it work? This is located just behind the rearview mirror attached to the inside of the windscreen The system uses a infrared LED with a photo diode sensor. It is designed to look for reduction of signal strength that occurs to the infrared light when a rain drop or rain droplets are present. The rain drops lowers the signal levels by allowing the light to pass through the glass rather than be reflected back under non rain circumstances. The calibration is quite exact and can be disturbed by replacement of the windshield with an "after market" or non-dealer replacement. The adhesive tape used to attach the sensor is very important and if not set correctly will perhaps cause the system to fail. There is not much that one needs to do to maintain the system, as it is designed to be self checking and assumes the windshield will have the normal amount of accumulation of dirt. However there are cases where the system can false trigger by the correct amount of dust or if the sun hits the sensor just right. This is the sensor removed from its attaching plate.
  9. Just a thought. Have you had a new windscreen fitted recently? If yes..... you could check there is a gel pad between the sensor and the windscreen. Only mention it as it could get missed by an inexperienced fitter. If it is missing ... you can get one here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-IS220-250-08-13-WINDSCREEN-RAIN-LIGHT-SENSOR-PAD-/122536009580 I believe the Lexus part no is 89944 - 50011 ... but please check as I'm not 100% on that
  10. This vid shows a few bits of info. You probably won't need to remove the mirror though
  11. There was some talk about this over on the US forum for Lexus, admittedly quite a while back. Might be worth trying a search on that forum. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013-163/ Could also try a search on YouTube
  12. Windscreen washer reservoir low warning??
  13. If I remember correctly it is a 28mm festoon bulb. It is very easy to prise down the cover in the boot and measure the bulb....would take you 2 minutes max.
  14. From my own experience........ I have a 250 SEL with 18" wheels (the staggered set up). I had Bridgestones (Turanza or Potenza can't remember which) on the car when I got it. I found them to be pretty awful....noisy, particularly on the rear wheels and tramlining was a bit grim. I replaced them with Front: Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 225/40/18 Rear: Goodyears Eagle F1 Assymetric 2's 255/40/18 they didn't, (and still don't as far as I know) make the Efficientgrip Performance in this size. Very pleased with them. Much much quieter and no tramlining. Get full geometry done after fitting all four wheels/tyres .... it's worth it! Here's a post that may help. Out of interest.... my wife has Bridgestone Turanzas on her MX5 and they are not too bad. I do find them noisy on the back, but it is a PRHT version so there is effectively a large sound box behind the seats where the roof folds into!! They are all going shortly when worn sufficiently. May try Kumho's next time as quite a few MX5 drivers recommend them.
  15. Defo get one from a scrap yard. Did the same on my old is200.
  16. Aah I see. Think that was part of the gfx kit that was available for a while. I think it would be obsolete now. Might see one on eBay perhaps.
  17. Not quite sure what you mean. Are you referring to the diffuser moulding that sits on the lower part of the bumper between the tail pipes. The kind of thing that some of the ISF crew have fitted.
  18. There was a black 59 plate LS600h near The Three Tuns in Great Bedwyn (not far from Marlborough) on Sunday morning. We had just been to see the Crofton Beam Engine on the Kennett & Avon Canal. Fascinating place, well worth a visit If you're in the area.
  19. I'd say you are best to check for yourself. It seems some cars have vented and some have solid discs. If I was going to guess I'd suspect you may well have 296 vented on the front. Mine were 296 front and 310 rear and both were vented. This contradicted what suppliers websites said....but then you can't rely on them to get it right. Best to check yourself to avoid getting the wrong ones, in my opinion. Hope that helps.
  20. Defo get the Bosch 068 type. Did mine a few months back. The first signs of winter and your battery will no doubt get worse. Our cars are similar age...it happens ...some batteries go 10 years, some go 7 or so. Variety of factors lead to battery death. As John says they are often around £80 mark inc delivery on eBay from reliable sellers. Euro car parts are often quite a bit more ...like £110 or so.
  21. That's a nice account of ownership of a 220d. Good to hear of a happy customer with the diesel Lexus. You have always been positive about the 220d and given good advice to other owners. Your presence will be missed greatly. Enjoy your Auto GS ... I have little doubt you will ...I was much the same when I moved from the 220d to my 250 Auto.
  22. Rattles can be very annoying. Only if it is safe to do so ....you could try pressing with your hand in different areas of the dash to see if the noise decreases or stops altogether. This would at least give you a reasonably accurate pointer as to where to investigate. It can be a bit tricky as you generally need to be moving to hear any rattles. It could be the dash clips or could be the speaker or could be elsewhere. Same for the door. I've not heard of any door rattles myself but there was mention of rattles from the pillar. I remember someone taking the pillar cover off and taping together some cables and putting a few small pieces of foam at strategic points. Door symptoms fairly widely mentioned, usually relate to creaking. This can be from the door seal rubbers. They can also get sticky. I've used the gummi pfledge stuff and found it to be very good. This is the stuff i used. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Gummi-Pflege-Rubber-Care-Stick-100ml-FREE-FAST-POSTAGE/192187603895?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  23. If you do a forum search you’ll find quite a lot about carbon wrapping of those components.
