  1. Take a read of the link that gives the pdf. Although its about ipod integration the pics should give you what you need to remove your glovebox. Hope you find one and get it sorted OK. That's got to be a real gutter. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/67466-removing-is250-glove-box/ also this sewells pdf may help. http://is.sewellparts.com/pdf/PT54500082.pdf
  2. It comes down to common sense doesn't it Geoff. Some have it some don't. But it applies to all modes of transport..even on foot. Drove to work at 6am this morning..along country lanes. Chap out walking his dog..dressed in a high vis sash..perfect. Mile further on on a sharp left hander I'm confronted by a jogger in dark attire in the middle of the road..nothing reflective or bright.....idiot. All we can do is try to ensure we are seen and hope the others catch on to the ideal in time.
  3. I'm sure they have never done a Diesel Auto option too. I guess if you were looking at an auto as an option it would have been a petrol 250.
  4. Nay worries You only have to click on a pic to open it right up If you changed the size of the uploaded pic you'd see it all. Nice looking motor. The Red, White and Blue versions are very distinctive colours these days.
  5. Sorry, have been out all day. Its dark now. I'll try and take some pics and put them up.....tomoz if I can
  6. No they've got it wrong. The liner fits behind the wheel arch. They can be a little fiddly to get back......it just needs a bit of patience. It is so easy to take reference pictures these days that there is really no excuse. Every time I tackle a dismantle....I take pics on the iPad as I go to help with reassembly. Makes me wonder if the spats at the front end were put back on? They are slightly curved abs strips about 250mm long that go at the bottom front edge. They assist with wind flow and are directly in line with the tyres at the front. There are 2 at the back wheel arches too.
  7. Aha...you may have answered it there. Customer had a seriously malfunctioning wireless doorbell. I remember it ringing 4 times about 5 mins later when I was in the house. Lady commented "thats the silly doorbell playing up...been like that for weeks"
  8. Had something similar on mine two weeks back. Arrived at clients house...car locked fine. Came out hour later...could not open car. Light on the fob flickered but nothing registered. Took fob apart and battery out, then reassembled and all was OK. Concluded it must have been customers wireless signal. Car perfect thererafter!! weird!!!!
  9. Sounds like you have it sussed then. Not sure why you should have any alarm issues? I did my battery on my 220d (when I had it) and did not get any alarm issues at all. I seem to recall the car was unlocked and my drivers door was slightly ajar during the work. I guess, if it goes off, just hit the 'open' button on your fob.
  10. Have you got the hook shaped (bit like a threaded hockey stick) bolt located at the right place at the bulk head side? If you have and it still does not work you could try and locate a slightly longer version maybe? Try searching ebay for 'hook bolt', after you've measured your existing one. Think it is M8 thread....but do check. PS....You'd be better off posting in the 220/250 section...this is the Mk1 is200/300 section.
  11. Take a read here...should tell you what you are after. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/75371-folding-mirrors/
  12. Might be wrong but I think this feature only came in on the facelift version......09 onwards. There is a mod kit available to add the feature. If you search thru this forum you will find it. The mod comes from a chap in Australia.
  13. It's pretty simple to fit....probably take an hour for first time. Remember, firstly, to disconnect the electrical plug in connector on the top. When it arrives take a good look at it to see its functioning (on the spring) properly and that its clean. Take the back end off too and check there is no corrosion in there. When the old one is off take a look at the port it feeds into underneath. Make sure its all nice and clean. You can scratch off any crud with a flat blade screwdriver and suck it up with a hoover as you go. Those vids on Youtube will enlighten you to what I am referring to. If you have not got one, see if you can borrow a 'short reach' socket extension for getting at the bolts at the back of the engine block. These hold the silver flexi type metal pipe that feeds down onto the top of the EGR. You'll need to lift this up to lift the EGR up over the studs.
  14. If it was me I'd do it myself as it is very easy to do. Just ensure you get the part numbers from the existing one you have. Not sure about the necessity of ECU update as such, but if the change requires the car system to 'relearn' your driving characteristics then that will be achieved, i think, over 500 miles or so.
  15. Here ya go take a look/read here. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/64978-egr-diy-cleaning/page-3 Look at post 38. Or, take a look here http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/106241-how-to-clean-an-auris-t180-sr180-egr-valve-this-could-be-a-good-ide/ Hope it helps.
  16. I don't know the cost of replacing the EGR valve, knowing Lexus, I'll take a stab at £300. First thing I'd do is take a look at it and see if its clogged with soot. Give it a thorough clean (off the car) and check the piston seating inside. If its closing properly into the seating under the spring pressure then it should work fine. Check also the wire connections into the plug that attaches to the EGR Valve. There are lots of vids on youtube about cleaning EGR valve. There are even some for Lexus 220. Follow what they instruct. Precisely what I did when I had my 220d. Its not too difficult to do yourself. Hopefully, you have resolved your main issue which is the DPF being clogged. Try and give it some good hot runs every couple of months if you are only doing small/short journeys. This will initiate the self cleaning cycle for the DPF. Good luck with it all.
  17. This warrants being put in the 'How to Guide' area as it really is very useful and many many people ask about Slide Pins all the time. Go here http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/86430-front-brake-caliper-and-pins-removal/?hl=%2Bslide+%2Bpins Please note I take no credit for this guide...it all goes to Noobie for putting this together. Excellent piccies too. Well done Noobie.
  18. When you change the battery you MUST re-initialize each window in order to be able to control each from the drivers door switches. In order to do this you perform this operation at each window using the switch on the door for the window you are at. If you look closely at the small led on each switch you will se it is blinking - this indicates the windows need initializing. 1. Open the window halfway using the door switch. 2. Fully close the window by pulling the switch and continue to hold the switch up for 4 seconds or so. 3. Do this at each door. When complete the blinking will change to being a constant glow ie 'on'. Your windows will now fully function again from the driver's door control set.
  19. Please ensure you have the correctly orientated battery for your car connections. Do a visual check before you commence this proceedure. If I remember correctly all you need is a 10mm spanner/socket and some petroleum jelly. Unlock the car, you do not want the alarm going off when you connect the new one!! Disconnect the NEGATIVE lead first, using the 10mm spanner, and move the lead to one side to avoid sparking. Disconnect the POSITIVE lead and move the lead to one side to avoid sparking. Undo the battery hold down clamp and put the nut somewhere safe, in your pocket is not a bad place. Disconnect the wired connection on the left hand side of the plastic collar that covers the battery. With a bit of jiggling this collar can be lifted off the battery. You can now lift out the old battery. At this point, check that the umbrella shaped hold down strap bolt has not come out of its slot. The plastic cover removal can move it from where it should be. Check it and tape or tie it up.. now. Replacing the plastic cover is even more likely to move it out of position!! Carefully lift in your new battery to its position, (remembering to orientate it the correct way!) Refit the plastic cover and re-attach the wired connection on the left side of the cover. Re-attach the hold down strap and re-connect the battery terminals starting with the POSITIVE lead. Cover any exposed terminal parts with Petroleum Jelly to prevent corrosion. Start the car!! Should take no more than 30 mins. You will need to ‘resync’ the electric window operations as described on page 45 of the Owners Manual.
