  1. I thought the 250 was chain driven not belt so didn't need replacing at 6 years/60,000 miles? Thats quite right it is chain driven. The 'big' thing about 60K service is the spark plugs change which apparently takes quite a while. 60K service is often in the region of £600 or so.
  2. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Andy (ACLex) has left the Lexus dealership at Poole. Some months back in fact. Try your nearest dealership up where you are. Have you tried the method listed further back up the page. Might just work. I have something similarish written down for my wife's Mx5....and it worked...thank heavens. we were up a hill in Annecy in France!!!!!!! So glad I kept a note hidden in the car.
  3. Noobie put up a good guide on the break/caliper thing in the how to section. Worth a read. I get mine greased (the pins that is) every year at a local garage in Wimborne.
  4. Tyres are so expensive it pays to keep a close eye on them. A quick visual every time you wash your car alerts you to any problems/uneven wear starting to develop. Check your pressures pretty regularly and get your tracking checked every year...it pays in the long run.
  5. Then your tyre pressures will be 35 and 38psi assuming you are doing less than 160Km/h. 3rd line down
  6. Read the table of size and pressure on the drivers door jamb. When did you last get geometry checked?
  7. Read what the size is on the fitted tyre Geoff. Looks like 17 or maybe 18 from your pic. PS...nice avatar...you sussed it OK then
  8. Ah......its CENTS then. Junior banker maybe? Or a play on words for a perfume shop?
  9. Could have been C34 NTS with a bit of spacing and dodgy use of fixing screw heads. Can't see what it is trying to spell though.
  10. Don't think the caliper design has changed at all. Mine is 2010 std 250. I get the guide pins on mine greased every 12-15 months for £50. 250 C's are quite rare....weirdly I saw 2 within 600 yds this morning.
  11. Well....i had Bridgestone Potenzas and Turanzas and found them noisy and really awful for tramlining. Read around a bit and settled on Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 2 on the front. Very well reviewed, good in the wet, good on fuel and quiet too. Read a few quotes that confirmed absence of tramlining. Thus far (4 months) am very pleased indeed ...no tramlining whatsoever. Also swapped the rears out for Goodyear Assymetric 2 ...very pleased with those too. Much less road noise in the cabin.
  12. That may actually be correct Geoff. I read somewhere that up to certain point the road tax on the manual boxed car is around £285 or so. For the later vehicles I believe it to be £460 pa.
  13. Don't think there is until you get to around 09 plated car. As far as I am aware a newer disc will not upgrade the system of the navigation unit itself. Full postcode entry is on the facelift version.
  14. Well.....it was all good. A day is probably a bit short to do anything more than a brief appraisal. I had no time to play with anything as work commitments meant I could only use it as a A to B vehicle. Compared to my 250 SEL...I'd say:- I'm not a big chap at all ...but the seat bolsters seem to squeeze a bit. A big lad might have a problem. The seats seem harder than mine. Steering wheel sits very nicely in the hands and the steering weighting feels slightly improved. The steering felt nicely responsive and planted on the road. The ride was slightly harder Door control panel fell quite nicely to my hand...that's an improvement. Really don't like the visible cup/can holders. They were evident on everything in the showroom too. Don't understand why Lexus are doing this...but that's just my feeling on the subject. Eco mode and Sport mode seemed fine to me. Quite nippy in sport mode.....just found the electric motor sound a bit odd. I guess you de-tune from it in your head over time. Not really that relevant but I averaged around 42mpg. Prefer my 250 gearbox...but then the 300h is CVT so its going to be very different Did not even open the boot or sit in the back. Zero road tax is a plus. Seems like a nice motor to me. Hybrids seem the way we will all end up if the Gov gets their way. I was offered an appraisal of my car to offset against a 300h but politely declined as wifey and I are seriously thinking about moving to France to retire. I figure there has to be a bit of fun heading towards the twighlight years...and I really really want a better climate. A little explore in June is beckoning....and the Euro rate is jolly helpful too!
  15. This is a good little vid if you want to see at first hand. Personally...I found the passenger side the harder of the two. Its all a little bit tight in there. Put an old cloth over the washer bottle opening....just in case something should drop!!
  16. Please revisit this post and remove your VIN no. You're showing your car/ colour/ registration and now the VIN number. Keep some things secret...you never know who may be using your info elsewhere.
  17. All done...spot on ....thank you Lexus Poole. £25 of fuel put in the tank. Steve, just mention it to Lloyd when you go in. He's a good'un...Poole back on track again.
  18. I find him a bit of a sad little twerp really. He wallows in his self importance and habitual dependence on jocularity. Be nice to have a motoring journalist more in the mould of Chris Goffey or Quentin Wilson....people who actually comment on the significant points of various cars. Who actually thrashes their car over the mountain passes every day and then does 120 on the m-way? Or drifts on every bend on the way to Tescos? We had 1 idiot like this on the run to work.....his car was seen buried in a hedge about 4 months back.
  19. Steve Poole Lexus told me this morning that £25 of fuel is being put into my car as part of the recall as a goodwill/sorry for the inconvenience gesture. So if you are going into Poole just ask Lloyd if you are in any doubt. I have a is300h as a loaner for the day...very nice it is too. Thank you Lexus...appreciate the gesture.
  20. Geoff, I have a 300h as a loaner today. Mines in for service and recall modification. Having had a look at the interior light units I'd say they look intrinsically the same as the is250 units. Those plastic trim removal tools should get you in to each bulb in exactly the same way. I'd even guess they are exactly the same bulbs behind there too. Don't look like led's in as standard.
  21. Mine goes in for the recall (fuel pipe) repair/mod on Weds. They say its about 4 hours for that alone!
  22. So you should be........it will be a revelation. The 250 auto is a smashing motor.
  23. Exactly what I did. Best move I could have made too! You won't regret it I'm sure.
  24. Presumably a refurbed set? They look like those fitted to the Mk1 is200. The originals would have a diamond cut appearance on the front facings. They'll look fine I would think.
