  1. Have a good look through this forum ...use the search method. I do believe quite a few folk got their bits from the Far East via Fleabay. Worth doing a search on there too. From what I rcall reading they were all quite impressed and i think there was paint matching service too.
  2. Yes, this has been mentioned a few times. Its one of those things you try and store in the brain cells...bit like the boot lock over-ride button in the glovebox...why can't i get into the boot.....did it get accidentally knocked? Had something a little similar the other week. I changed my air filter but had not quite got the top cover seated correctly...it was literally about a 1mm gap on one corner...but i did not know this at the time. I was rushing in my lunch break and the only thing i noticed was that one snap lock was a bit tighter than i recall from previous. Drove home that night and engine management and traction lights were on. Got home...a wee bit puzzled and figured the only thing toyed with is the air filter....so took it apart again and found that little issue. Started up and all lights went out!! Surprised anything would be that sensitive. Relieved it sorted it though.
  3. Get the SEL and add those little extras to it if you wish....think that would be most sensible way to do it.
  4. Take a look thru the ISF section. The ISF is where you would be more likely to see one of those jobbies! May give you a better idea of what they look like/colours,etc. Here maybe http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/98932-more-carbon-goodness/#entry908259
  5. Its worth checking the EGR. If its a bit full of crud the crud can prevent the piston opening and closing, in particular, properly into its seating. This can then trick the engine into sensing a fuel mix anomaly and higher revs may well result. Using Bg44K and AR6200 does help with a cleaner burn and aids cleaning the top end. When I had my 220d i used a can of BG every 8,000 miles or so, and 5ml to 50 litres of fuel at each fill up. It certainly seemed better with it.
  6. Stick up a link to the lead you refer to. Never know... someone might have info for you. Something like this maybe. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-BELKIN-car-charger-usb-data-lead-CABLE-for-iPHONE-3G-3GS-4-4S-IPOD-/190891422608?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item2c7203f390
  7. You can connect a phono cable from your ipod into the aux in socket in your arm rest. You could also get a charger lead connected into the power outlet next to the aux socket. When I had a 220d (07) i just used the phono lead into the aux socket. But I always ensured my ipod was fully charged. But it would last a whole day on a full charge easily.
  8. Brilliant...looks just like someone's Auntie Janet!!!!
  9. That's a pretty fair and well balanced critique in my opinion. Graham....that's not really being fair, as you are coming from the standpoint of a LS600h...that is bound to be far more luxurious and roomy by comparison. But you are perfectly entitled to your opinion.
  10. Rob.....take it back...get your money back...and find another. The last thing you want is one of these that has problems...could turn into a money pit for you.
  11. Ray....here is the page to start at http://www.powerenhancer.co.uk/news/bg-244-for-diesel/33/
  12. Powerenhancer.co.uk. if I remember correctly. Google power enhancer.
  13. Pity I was right really. Kind of hoped I might have been proved wrong. It's quite shocking...don't you think? In a conventionally aspirated car the one thing it needs is a good supply of clean air. Come on Lexus get your act together this is hopeless maintainence.
  14. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wind-Deflector-2pcs-Lexus-IS-250-Saloon-4-Door-2006-On-30005-/181672691058?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a4c894572 any good?
  15. Welcome Francois Nice looking motor you have there. You will find lots of help here. It is a friendly and knowledgeable place. Lexus is quite a rare breed in France. I have noticed a couple of dealerships on my travels...but not many. Every time I go to France I get admiring looks. Stayed in the Loire (near Valencay) area last year...the owners of the Gite were so impressed I took them out for a spin in the Lexus. They loved it.... Xavier was hooked on it I think.
  16. Car had a full (60,000) service just 3000 miles ago, so air filter should be spotless, parking brake not on and calipers sorted as described. Mmmm I wouldn't put too much hope on that. I was told they 'inspect' the air filter at regular intervals.....but only change every 40,000 miles. Staggering is it not. Just had my 60K service done and its the same filter in there. So yours is likely to have done 23K to date. Don't be surprised to find yours is filthy in there. I get my own filters and do them myself. Air filter every 15000 or visual check. Cabin/Pollen filter every 12 months or so. Have two on order right now. Less than £20 delivered.
  17. Tomorrows challenge Geoff Discover the world of FLAC. You can save music files as FLAC (Full Lossless Audio Codec) and most bluray players will play those straight at you as music. The bluray players have clever DAC systems. So the question is ....does the is300h system play back FLAC files from your USB stick? I'd like to think it does but I'd take a guess it won't as Lexus are a tad slow at bringing in new tech. It was not until the facelift 09 is250 that there was a USB port on board on that model!! Only joshing with you Geoff...chill and enjoy your Mp3's.
  18. I have my car permanently in ECT/PWR mode. Tried in both modes with virtually no apparent mpg difference. I find the car responds nicely in this mode.
  19. Digital (to) Analog Converter. In simple terms, it's what converts all those digital data bits to something you can hear when it emerges from the amplifier.
  20. Little bag 'o' worms opened up there Geoff I use a USB stick to play some stuff and also my iphone and ipod usb connected as players. I rip all my stuff (CD's) to Itunes and opt to do all that at 320Kbps. This makes the file size slightly larger say 90Mb for an album. If you opt for 128Kbps there is not a huge amount of difference aurally ...and the file size is smaller at about 50Mb. All my files I save as Mp3 files. even on Itunes i keep all as Mp3 not as Apple's AAC files. Then i just copy and paste any selections I want onto the USB and plug it in the car. My only issue was finding a stick that was not too long as the usb port faces upwards and there is a danger of thumping it with the armrest cover....and I really do not want to do that!!!! You don't need to worry about 'Burn' settings as you are not 'burning' anything onto said USB stick. You are just copying and pasting them there. That's my two penneth.......see what others say.
  21. To reset your windows take a read here http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/tutorials/article/200-initializing-windows-after-battery-change/
  22. Check with every car you look at. I believe there is a pre 2006 road tax of £285 on the manual gear box version. After that it rises to £460 odd. The auto is £285 throughout as far as I know. Try the auto box you will I think be very surprised and love it. I had a 2001 is200 sport some years back. Nothing would talk me back to a manual box in this car. You can drive it as virtual manual using the stick or the paddles if you get the SEL variant. I do with mine every now and then ....it's good fun. It's the option to use when you want to overtake someone. There are lots of posts on this forum relating to the different spec levels take a read thru them.
  23. I recall Carl having some issues when he had a 220d. Try removing that big centre engine cover...it pops off quite readily. Have a look around the injectors ....any visible carbon splatters? Of course if its 'tother end you won't see anything but at least you'll know the seatings are fine.
