  1. From Lexus blurb New Lexus IS 250 SR 13/5/08 Following in the footsteps of the Lexus IS-F comes the new sporty IS 250 SR. Designed to bridge the gap between the IS-F and IS 250 Sport, the SR offers a full body kit and 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, aluminium pedals and scuff plates and heated front seats as standard. Other standard features include 10 airbags, climate control, cruise control, smart keyless entry and engine start and sequenced LED interior lighting. Powered by a 204bhp 2.5-litre V6 petrol engine, the IS 250 SR will accelerate from rest to 62mph in 8.1 seconds (8.4 with the optional six-speed automatic transmission) on to a top speed of around 140mph. The IS 250 SR is on sale from 19 May priced from £24,990 for manual and £25,800 for the automatic. Those ad boys...they do like to sing it up a bit don't they? Reading between the lines it looks like a base model tweeked up with the GFX kit. Think it has fabric seats though as std. But like all these things the first buyer can up the ante with upgraded options. So the final spec can differ. Looks like it was a Lexus ploy up trying to perk up sales...perhaps prior to the launch of the facelift version in 2009?
  2. Just don't forget..when you're refilling the system...you'll need to get any trapped air out of the matrix heater unit behind the dash. From memory ( it was some years back when I had my Mk1 is200) there is a bleed screw at the bottom to allow you to do this. Otherwise you will affect the ability to heat the cabin and will have lots of delightful gurgling sounds coming from the dash area!!
  3. John is quite right. I've had both vehicles...the 250 is the best by a country mile or six in my opinion. You are not doing enough miles to justify a diesel anyway....that in itself could lead to problems with the EGR and DPF on the diesel. The diesel needs good long journeys...it does not want to be doing shortish run a rounds. With care you can get 28-31 mpg around town and 36-40 is achievable on a run. Use the cruise control you will be surprised how efficient it is with your petrol. Most roads are pretty rammed so it's not like you can charge around like an idiot....you increase you chances of gaining points on your licence anyway. See people rush past me everyday...at the final set of lights..there they are 30 metres away, If you want all the toys then it has to be the SEL with ML stereo with .....most definitely...the auto gearbox. Annual road tax is £285 or thereabouts. The manual gearbox has road tax of 285 but it changes around 2006 to a whopping £460!!
  4. If you managed to lock the car whilst in it then it is likely that the internal motion detector would have triggered....and set off the alarm. It can be turned off via the satellite switch when the car is stopped. It is what you need to do on a cross-channel ferry or the swing tag on the mirror will set the alarm off. It resets each time so you have to remember to set it each time you want it not to operate.
  5. Mine used to do that...when I had my 220d. I found cleaning the EGR valve and using a can of BG244 did the trick for me.
  6. Heard of this before. Think its a setting input at the dealership....something to do with airing the car on a hot day...prior to jumping in. IIRC it is activated by holding the 'open' button longer than normal. Thereby the car not only unlocks but the windows open too. Carl had this on his 250 when it was snowing...not too handy.....he surmised maybe his toddler had got at his key fob at home. Maybe something in whichever pocket was pressed against the open button without you realising. Perhaps go out to the car and test the theory?? Not sure...might be possible to deactivate it at the fob itself? Hopefully someone in the know will be along shortly.
  7. If nothing works and you wish to return to the original OEM set...then try this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290690410797 Think that is the right set to get...prob £70 from Lexus!!
  8. Yep...just contact Michael at Ashpoint as above your post
  9. I myself have a 2013 ISF, I like the style of the new grille and considering doing this mod on mine but trying to find a bodyshop willing to take it on Andy......you aren't a million miles away....it'd be worth taking a drive down to Essex to see Ahmed's handy work in the flesh. You never know he may be able to point/advise/help. On a personal note...I think what he has done is gob-smackingly admirable from just about every stand point. He is exhibiting a very considerable degree of skill and understanding. Take a read of his other posts where he has wrapped the whole car...it used to be silver. I'd never do any of this myself....but I think he's doing amazing stuff here and I'm enjoying seeing the fruits of his damned hard labour. Good on you Ahmed.
  10. I had a Nokia system wired into my 220d when I had it. That was definitely wired into the back of the head unit. It muted the audio source when taking a call.
  11. Take a read here http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/96601-volume-function-not-working-on-2007-is220d/#entry910175 Might pay you to pm Rizzy as to exactly what he did, as your problem may be the same.
  12. 1. The radio thing has, i think, just recently come up and the poster fixed it. I'll see if I can find the post that referred. 2. Try a standard music cd and see if that is recognized. Then try a cd loaded with mp3. it may be that the DVD with Mp3 is the problem
  13. Good grief...tip my hat to you again my friend. You sure are a guy on a mission...........and some!!!
  14. Works on mine...thats odd then! I had a 220d MY 07 and I could reset one for sure. What happens if you scroll to Tank Avg and then press DISP? Does that go to 0.0?
  15. iirc.......think it goes like this. While your screen is displaying AVG....press and hold DISP for a few seconds until the figure zeros to 0.0
  16. Surprising then that Lexus only deem it fit to change it every 35,000 miles going by the service schedule
  17. I had Turanzas and Potenzas in my time on 220d and 250. Have to say ...I found them hopeless. They grip fine but boy were they noisy and the tram-lining was horrendous at times. I'm on 18" too by the way. Don't know that you can make the ride softer with 18's and 40. If you went down to a 17" or 16" with a fatter tyre then it may get softer. I must say...I don't find my ride 'hard' to the point of annoyance at all. Anyway, I now have Goodyears ...Assymetric 2's on the rear.....very pleased after some 4 months or so. On the front I went for Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 2......why? Well, I read a few reviews that praised their price, grip, fuel economy, quietness and lack of tram lining. Found it to be very true. Ride is much quieter and have no tram lining whatsoever. All those regular spots on my journey to work and around town that tram-lined before have all been eradicated. Very pleased. It's worth getting the full geometry done on the car. Not just the tracking on the front. Sometimes it can be out of kilter and it drastically affects the handling and tyre wear.
  18. Yep.....stick with 35 and 38. Unless you really like purchasing tyres
  19. You are the same year as me then. I'm pretty sure you will have the HDD version. If i remember correctly...press the NAVI button. Then press the Map Data button. You should see a screen that says your map version date and also talks about Gracenote. This is the gubbins involved with your ability to record a CD (that you have loaded) onto your Hard Disc Drive (HDD), a very handy feature it is too. This confirms you have a HDD fitted. Or just drop in to any Lexus dealership on your travels.
  20. Update....I'd say every 3 or 4 years. It's about £160 and can only be done by lexus if you have the HDD version (which I think you have as its 2010 model). To update you'll need to book it in at your loc local Lexus deale. It's done with a USB stick ....... Probably takes about an hour or so.
  21. That is a happy outcome...very pleased for you. I had mine go when I had a 220d. Mine was 07 plate. 6 Lexus stamps and Lexus did indeed replace the engine.
  22. Yep ..... stay in 5th. I found the 6th gear pretty useless(when I had a 220d) unless i was doing 80+ in France.
