  1. Personally, I have found myself a good independent servicing facility that does exactly what I ask. The owner has had a Lexus himself so knows the vehicles well. I get him to do the caliper slide pins each time too. Lexus will not even look at this....they just want to tell you its seized and make you fork out masses of dosh to replace the whole caliper. Quite frankly I find this very poor. Furthermore, they don't even do a visual on something like the air filter if it is not flagged on their chart. Had a filthy one left in my car at a Major service ....that's not good enough in my book. Air and Cabin filters and cleaning of MAF I do myself each year and inform my mechanic that they have been done. I'm inclined to agree with Scudney on the Kwikfit thing...unless you know the staff and have favourable comments of their standard of work.
  2. As Piasek said .... the TP powerline adaptors are a useful solution ... work well for me too. I have the router hard wired to my pc upstairs in the study (but it can be t'other way round)and use TP links to connect the TV's downstairs (my TV's can coonect wirelessly but I find the feed more stable with the TP links). Biggest distance covered is about 30' from PC to lounge TV.
  3. Yes I first noticed this after the last site update/rebuild a few months back. Think it's a question of parts not being compatible in the rebuild. It would be good if posters could get into their own posts to correct them, but it's not possible at the moment. Did put the question to the moderators but don't think it's attainable. looks like the only fix is to input a new post and request deletion of the old one.......but that's a bit of a pain really. also .... some pics get lost when the OP, for eg, gives up their online picture storage site. Edit: Couple of hours later whilst on my tea break ... i found this by digging back through posts
  4. I have nowt but praise for Goodyear Efficientgrip and Goodyear Asymetric 2's. I did not find much to like about Bridgestone Potenzas or Turanzas. Just my own personal findings.
  5. If you can find a pair of those osrams as on Amazon, or anywhere else for that matter, then it's a fair/good price. IMHO I'd also replace both or you are likely to see a difference. I did a pair on my car a few weeks back. They are simple to replace, take a read of that other post that Steve added for guidance. I changed mine in the morning to allow for full overnight charge depletion, did not disconnect the battery and all was absolutely fine. My old ones I put in the empty box and kept as a back up pair for foreign travel needs.
  6. Ah Carnac..had a lovely hol there and in Benodet. Hundreds of standing stones. Or menhirs as they call them. Weather is fab isn't it. Lexus' are as rare as rocking horse droppings in France.
  7. That's what I was getting at shahpor. Thats the first lexus I had seen in France on this holiday. It would have been a little ironic if it was one of the forum members. Did see a French plated 450h today though. Lexus is a pretty rare sight in France.
  8. Currently on hols in France. Visited Brantome in the Dordogne region. Came back to the car park to grab our picnic and saw a 57 plate Silver is220d in the same car park!!!
  9. Enjoy the Z4 ...you will have that silly grin stuck on your face every time you go out in it. I've just got the mk3.5 Mx5 Roadster for my wife. We both end grinning like the proverbial cheshire's every time we take it out for a spin. These new power retractable hardtops are great fun and ridiculously quick to open. Enjoy!!
  10. Here is the personalized settings menu if you wish to peruse http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/IS250_LPS.pdf Yes, it should be all 4 windows down (and moonroof open if fitted) but I don't know how accurate djkenn was being with his description of the event, and this sounded like the most logical explanation to me.
  11. Yeah all good thanks. Had her a couple of years or so. Became grandparents this year (via the eldest) and our youngest was married in July. Quite an expensive year!!! Empty nest now! Just orf to France for hols and a bit more property investigating down St. Emillion/Bergerac type area. Just far enough for (hopefully) extended summers and a tad more of the sunny stuff. I've just joined the mx5owners club forum (for the wifeys new motor) ...jolly good it is too. This place takes some beating though for helpfulness and general good attitude of all participants. It is a little unique i think. I hope you are fully on the mend and look forward to seeing your smile inducing avatar appearing more frequently. Best of health to you and yours Ian.
  12. Good to see you back again Hope all is well in your patch
  13. Here ya go have a read of these. Can't find Carl's post...think it was he that had a car full of snow!
  14. It's a setting on the Custom Menu that is activated by an extended press of the buttons. This can be initiated by an accidental press that you are completely unaware of . It is intended to allow for cooling of the interior on a very hot day, when you first come back to the vehicle. IMHO its a bit daft. I know of someone who had a wet car and another with a snow lining. AFAIK you'll need to get Lexus to disable the function. Unless you have one of those Techstream thingys.
  15. +1 to that. My understanding is that the end process must be the use of a sealant/uv inhibitor or the yellowing will return all too rapidly. Have a hunt over in the LS400/430 section. I'm sure some chaps were doing this recently with what looked like very good results from the photos shown.
  16. I've just had a letter regarding the air bag recall. It's just the usual ' we are aware, it's in hand...... we'll get back to you when we are ready'
  17. Don't know if this still applies. On the occasions I did have some work done on works vans I would always disconnect the leads from the alternator too.....just in case.
  18. Yep, we are looking at the 2Ltr. I'm a member of MX5oc so have had a nose around there for a while. Drove a 10 plate 2ltr Sport Tech Roadster a few days ago. Very enjoyable.
  19. Certainly is. We've (well ....truthfully the missus) had Mx5's for the past 10 years. Cracking good little cars. Looking for a 09/10/11 Mk3.5 with the composite folding electric roof. Our Mk2.5 went in 3 days which caught us out a bit.You can just about make it out through the windows...parked next to the Lex on the drive. The Lex is a keeper ...nothing will make me part with that. Love it!
  20. Can't see you waiting long to have that snapped up!! I'm hunting around for a PRHT MX5 Mk 3.5 at the mo' for her indoorsness. Similar sum of money.
  21. As said above. Not expensive to get ... can be as little as £6-9 There is guide here that I put up a few months back. As mentioned above you must switch the a/c to recirculate. In fact whilst you have the rear glovebox cover off, and can see the housing and filter, press the recirculate button on and off and you will see the lid lift up to reveal the filter. The lid/cover must be in the 'up' position ... on no account should you try and force up the lid with your hand.
  22. By the way John, make sure you get 4 wheel alignment done afterwards and then every 12/18 months (keeping an eye on wear signs) or so after. Yes, it costs a bit £70 ish but its worth it for the price of the tyres you've forked out for. You'll find the car feels much more 'planted' on the road and drives so much better ... at least, that's what I found. I've just had all 4 refurbed and then 4 wheel aligned. Lexus just cannot make wheels .. mine were starting to blister and peel quite badly on the spokes. They now look super. Dreading the first time I touch a kerb.
  23. I went for Goodyear Efficientgrip on the front and have found them to be very good and no tramlining. Previously had stock Turanzas ...horrible for tramlining. I have Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 on the back as the Efficientgrip were not made in my rear tyre size. Again found them to be very good and much quieter than my previous Turanzas. I believe Goodyear do now make the 255.40.18 variant.
  24. Switches may need resyncing after a battery disconnect? Take a close look at the led by the switch .... Is it blinking? Try this May fix it
