  1. That’s exactly what I’d do. I have a Ring maintenance charger and it works a treat. In fact mine is on my neighbour’s IS250 right now whilst he’s in Hong Kong for 3 weeks 😀
  2. Nice one .. glad to hear all is good. I was prompted to ask as I thought about your issue as I was driving to my MOT centre this morning. Pleased to report passed with clean bill of health .. 14 yrs and incredibly little ever advised! Tester did a double take when he saw it was 14 yrs old!!

  5. Just a thought You have the SEL so I'm guessing you have HID headlights. Do you see the usual little headlight dance when turning the lights on as they 'level up'? If not [given that the car has been sat for a while] I'm wondering if one of the levelling armatures has slightly seized up .. I know this can happen. From memory they are both on the passenger side. The front one is quite easy to see by turning the wheel out to the left. They can even get broken from pot holes in the road. Sometime ago I put up photos in a post of both levelling devices when I was checking mine. Shout if you need to see it and I'll see if I can find it ... could be 5-6 years ago!! Of course if you don't have HID lights then I'm not helping at all 🤭
  6. I'm no expert on these things but I'd certainly give the MAF sensor a clean. I do mine every 12 months or so with a spray of electrical cleaner, gentle agitation and leave to dry for about 5-10mins. Next I'd be looking at the upstream oxygen sensors with a view to replacing both. Think the gods advise changing them after 80 - 100,000mls. If you need any heads up pointers as to what you may need, have a look through this write up I did on this very subject back in 2017 Good luck, hope you get an easy fix to the problem
  7. Just a thought on the subject of 'auto' folding mirrors on the earlier model 250. Some years back there was a kit available [Ashpoint Po40] from a chap in Australia that a few 250 owners purchased. Sadly, the chap that developed it died a while back. Here is a link you may want to have a trawl through. Perhaps you have one of these modules fitted inside your door that has now failed [could be a simple thing like a bad joint in cabling]. It may just be a case of being poorly fitted in the first place? There is an alternative method that was outlined by Ahmed in the following link. This should give you a replacement path to follow. Good luck. You may want to have a look under the drivers door control panel and see if there is anything that looks like an obvious addition to the wiring. If you need to get further into the door lining, here is a link I put up when I had to remove my door card to enable a repair. Best of luck with it all ... you've taken on a quite a challenge there
  8. Me too ☺️ I looked around briefly and then thought to myself ... "Why am I doing this? This car has never let me down once" Had my 250 for over 11 years now. It's still a lovely place to be and a pleasure to drive. It's also quite reassuring to get so many admiring glances and occasional comments on how good it looks. Their faces are a picture when I tell them she's 14 years old!!
  9. Yep, use a lens cleaner disc. The type with 4 or 5 little clumps of brushes worked for me.
  10. This should help you with removing the door card. It's not too difficult really. I think I would try a good wire brushing of the powdery surface followed by a careful application of etching primer from a rattle can and then a top coat to lock it in

  12. Might I suggest having a good look [when the old windscreen is removed] and noting where any dash clips are located. There may even be some that look like a wee roll of felt or 6mm foam that may have been fitted at a later date to stop the 'dashboard rattle' that so many spoke of a few years back. Perhaps take a few photos for reference. Found the pic below in my info folder ... it may be of use. Also, check that the rain sensor for the wipers is working, they will need to bond the pad to the screen so that all is held securely. A watering can will start the necessary action!
  13. Exactly as John has shown you. The critical thing is to put it into RECIRCULATION mode. When you remove the panel at the back of the glove compartment you should find the lid to the filter is in the up position allowing full view of the filter to be replaced. If it is not up DO NOT TRY AND FORCE THE LID UP MANUALLY you will break the selector arm!!! Just put the ignition on and try again, when you get it right you will see the lid lift up to reveal the filter.
  14. They should not be writing off your car for such small damage. No doubt your own insurance company will instruct a claims management company. CMC's can be tiresomely slow in the extreme. Stand your ground and be polite and firm. You are not at fault therefore you can determine where your vehicle goes for repair. Do not let them 'shoe horn' you into having your car taken away on a low loader to goodness knows where. The phrase ' I know my legal rights and as I am not at fault here I wish exercise my right to choose my repairer for my vehicle' ..... usually gets their attention. Keep all correspondence in a file so you can refer to it. I'd keep that file stashed for about a year to be safe. Likewise with email correspondence .... keep it in a labelled folder so you don't delete it in error. From my own experience it is highly likely your insurance company will pay out for the repairs and then will seek those costs from the other party's insurance company. This can be slow and protracted. It's a PITA, but it's how insurance companies work. They sometimes resort to threats of court action to get the money from the guilty party's insurer. I have experienced this myself just last year. My insurer said it was fairly common practice ... somewhat alarming!! They were on the point of paying me for my time to attend court. It got as far as me having contact with their firm of Solicitors. The other side then yielded and paid up. Best of luck and good fortune to you.
