  1. I can see you're in Ireland. I don't know if you're aware of this: https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history which should give a detailed result for all UK registered cars. If you're stuck for a mechanic to look at the car, if you widened the question, and asked if there was anyone who lived in Cardiff who could pop along and have a quick look at the car for you, I think you might be pleasantly surprised at the help you'll be offered. : o )
  2. 69db, which is at the quieter end of things. And yes, in practice, quiet. And a bit soft, so not so directional as a summer tyre, but very nice to drive on. I had them on my 460 for about four years. Much better on frozen roads than the summer tyres I've got on my current car. : o )
  3. Cool. Makes a lot of sense to me. No point in having a nice car and spoiling it. And the Michelin cross climates are great tyres, especially in the winter. : o )
  4. Consumer rights are better than a warranty. Car dealers only offer six month warranties to try to fob you off if there's a problem. Ring the dealer, and follow up with a recorded delivery letter setting out the problem straight away. Time is of the essence! Sorry to be so harsh.
  5. Can I suggest that you put the details in the "for sale" section here? It's free, and there are likely to be interested people looking, and you can actually chat online with people. Obviously, put it in autotrader as well! : o )
  6. Michelin thinks that it's illegal. https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/advice/choose-tyres/mixing-tyres But really, what are they doing putting budget tyres on a car that's only 3 years old anyway? I think you need to go back and insist on a new Bridgestone Touranzo to replace the Radar.
  7. Do you mean, if you're a bit bigger or taller or a bit infirmer than normal? I am such a person who had a 460 for over 15 years. The door opening is tall. The wheel retracts right out of the way. The seat is comfortable, and even though there is a moon roof the headroom is fine. When you get out, the seat is at a sensible height for raising yourself up to standing, though if you wish you can use the air suspension to raise the car a couple of inches. You need to ensure there is enough space when you park to open the door properly. The back is a bit rubbish though! I've driven an RX 350. There is plenty of room, but it's a bit of a clamber in and a slide out. The ride of the 460 is also much better. : o )
  8. Loosing coolant and dumping transmission fluid? I know that older LSs had a radiator that had separate compartments for coolant and transmission fluid, and that it was important when they were 10 or 15 years old to replace the radiator in case corrosion let coolant under pressure push into and mix with the transmission fluid. If that's happened here, it's likely that the transmission made simply need replacing. And it won't be good for the engine running with insufficient coolant. Myself, I'd get a different person to look, check the fluid, so when it came to it, it wasn't just your word for it, and maybe make a video showing the lost coolant/fluid. Then I'd just take the car back and give them the keys. Sorry.
  9. How reasonable the original price of £105,260 being increased depends (slightly) on which measure of inflation you use. If you use retail price index (RPI) then £105,260 is equivalent to £ 147,708 in July. If you use consumer price index (CPI) it's worth £147570 in August. So, less than we might expect. But I still definitely think that over £100k is too much for the car it is. : o )
  10. That link leads to a great resource! Unfortunately, the link you've put up leads to a June 2013 brochure, that won't show all the versions available for 2014 - and it doesn't show the car you're interested in. https://autocatalogarchive.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Lexus-IS-2015-UK.pdf This is an October 2015 catalog that does show the specifications (for that model year) and includes the Executive. : o )
  11. How are you finding the cross climates on what is a fairly heavy car? I put them on my LS460, and though they were good in cold weather, and quiet and comfortable, I felt that directional stability suffered a bit. I presume you need them for snow in Northumberland?
  12. Why not put them on ebay? Ask for £150 with buyer collects, then that would be a very nice donation to a charity - and they will sell! And yes, it would be a terrible shame for them to go to recycling : o )
  13. I'll attach a document to this post. If you look at page 37 you'll see a section called "Practices to follow for best results". This is a tiresome section, that no one should bother with - do you really expect a technician to roll the car back and forth by turning a rear wheel to let the steering settle on it's own? There's other parts of this document that also are just timewasters, and best ignored. You need to find someone committed to using a wheel alignment machine properly, preferably someone who will let you watch while they do it. Hard to find, but great to cultivate a relationship with the people who do the aligning! : o ) 3850-T WinAlign® Software - Operations Manual.pdf
  14. So take it back to the people who got it right. They'll want to make you happy so you keep on going there, and seem to know what they are doing. : o )
  15. Open the driver's door. This information should be on the now-exposed B pillar. : o )
