  1. Congrats on the purchase. What colour combo have you gone for? Would also appreciate a comparison - Its been a while since I drove the RC300h but from memory, it wasn't too different to the IS.
  2. They've just not fitted it properly or its not a genuine bumper Cant see any gaps on this:
  3. No there arent. Ive never used oponeo. I only used tyreleader and camskill - both of which have been excellent
  4. There are a lot of "may do this" and "may do that" in that article. So technically, the car companies "may do" as they please by the looks of how to integrate DRLs and indicators into their headlight units
  5. Not on the Lexus models. But on VAG group for example, the DRLs go way dimmer on one side when the indicator is flashing on that side.
  6. Probably. They were available on the Luxury in the UK and if I remember correctly, were a £2k option
  7. Must be related to Parking brake then. Our IS DRLs turn on when the footbrake is released and I think its probably the same with the RX. They turn on at night when unlocked. DRLs are usually on but go dimmer - the RX ones remain the same brightness. Same with the facelifted NX
  8. Yes ours is the 300h but it was the same with our previous car (Merc C220) which was on original batteries even after 10 years
  9. Think it might be because car is in P so they're not on. This video shows how the DRLs are actually a separate LED strip to the indicators. Most vehicles just use the same strip for DRLs and indicators
  10. The rear ones grab a lot of attention because they aren't the usual Audi rubbish which is just a line moving across And I like how the front DRLs stay on whilst the indicators are on. In other cars you see the DRLs go dim and the look is just awful.
  11. I tend to find the reversing camera has a fairly wide angle so you can see a little bit around corners to allow easing out.
  12. Don't agree with short trips killing the battery. Ours is 5 years old now with 17k miles and the battery is OK. Probably only does about 4 miles per day and maybe 10-20 on weekends
  13. Mercedes has more heritage and many models. It appeals to the masses especially with the tiny Renault engines in A classes and they have become affordable on hire purchase/finance Additionally they have a low entry cost. Most of the Mercs on the road today have very poor specification. Many people get the cheapest Merc they can afford and add 2/3 options on it. Not to mention the diesel love in the past few years which helped to boost their sales. A lot of these Mercs with diesel engines are hardly refined at all.
  14. Are you having a laugh? Have you driven the latest 3 series and the MK7.5 Golf? The 3 series has more road noise and engine noise(dependent on engine) than the Golf. It might be one of the best handling saloons in its segment but it's certainly not miles more refined than the Golf is. The Skoda Octavia might be the same car underneath but it doesn't have the same level of sound deadening etc. Skoda cut corners and use parts that VW used a decade ago.
  15. A Skoda Octavia is in a different segment entirely. If you want a decent hatchback which is relatively small you'd be looking at Golfs, A3s etc. The Golfs are more refined than BMWs current 3 series and have better build quality. But again it all comes down to badge. A Kia will never be a premium vehicle until it makes a spin-off premium marque and builds vehicles which are only premium. Mercedes, BMW and Audi are starting to dilute the brand image by making cheaper and cheaper vehicles in search of sales I can understand Merc doing it, but BMW already has MINI to do that and Audi have VW, Skoda etc. But we're going round in circles. A premium vehicle is defined by the badge on its bonnet. It doesn't matter if you have a Mercedes or BMW but is it anything compared to a Bentley badge? Not really
  16. Sounds normal. The EV mode will deactivate if running low on battery which will be running the electrics including AC.
  17. In a sentence, the deals are *******. On current models theyre the same as usual. It's only of benefit if going for a run out model.
  18. I didn't say the Golf is a premium vehicle. They would be classed as mid-range I guess. And you don't pay £35k for a Golf unless going for a top spec one unlike the A class which has worse materials - some plastics are Renault spec. You see the paint on the door frame in plenty of cars including BMW 1 series which is also supposed to be a premium vehicle. I'm sorry but the Golf is an absolutely brilliant car. Doesn't shout, just gets the job done at a reasonable price. Denying it is just idiotic. A premium vehicle is based on badge as I said before. Stick a BMW badge on a Kia Stinger and it'll instantly be premium To top that off, most cars are driven by hire car and finance pilots including BMW 1 series, Audi S3s etc etc.
  19. And to build on this.... Is a Merc A class a premium vehicle? It certainly doesn't have build quality matching even a VW Golf and arguably the driving experience is better in the Golf too as it has a more comfortable ride.
  20. PTFE is actually a bit of a con. Most waxes that say PTFE don't have much in it whatsoever. This is because PTFE doesn't actually stick to car paint.... If you're just starting out, ideally you'd be better off with a mild hand polish such as Autoglym Super Resin Polish or Britemax Blackmax and a wax/sealant of your choice. A good option would be Bilt Hamber Double speed wax. I wouldn't get caught up in whether they attract dust or whatever. You're unlikely to notice. I also wouldn't be concerned about "shine". It's very difficult to tell between one or the other unless you get identical cars next to each other in the same colour with the same prep and different waxes. Rule of thumb tends to be : light colours go for sealants and warm colours/dark colours go for a wax.
  21. To the vast majority..... The badge on the bonnet. Simple as that really. Hence you have people rolling around in a Merc A class 😂
  22. Everyone keeps saying it's tripled yet ATS still manage to do it for £35 Groupon and Lexus will price match Dealers within 5 miles so I get it done at Lexus for £60
  23. Well I mean rotating tyres isn't exactly good practice..... You're essentially going to end up running 4 bald tyres rather than 2 bald tyres and 2 good tyres 😂
  24. Id be inclined to try Astral black paint 202. It should have a clear coat yes
  25. Wasn't just for Asian markets. Australia also got the RX270. It was replaced by the RX200t The 270 was a 4 cylinder and pretty slow taking 11.3s to get to 62mph
