New Tyres
rayaans replied to chris_fletcher's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Yep Bradford fitted them for the same cost for me too which I think is entirely reasonable since they also cleaned the car inside and out. £172 seems to be the going rate for them yes. Use Topcashback for roughly 2% back -
New Tyres

I went for the Bridgestone Dueler H/L which were fitted originally on mine. No issues at all and quiet. Well quiet enough anyway because I can't hear any tyre noise whatsoever. The Advan Sport are high performance tyres and will wear out quick, even quicker than the OEM Lexus fitments (Dunlop/Bridgestone) which will only do about 17-20k on the 4RX. Also, looking at the tread pattern on the Advan Sport, they will be extremely difficult in snow, whereas the Bridgestones are actually OK. -
When was the last time you checked your tire pressure?
rayaans replied to Linas.P's topic in Brakes & Suspension
I usually check them each time I wash the car which is usually monthly. It doesn't tend to change much on them tbh, maybe 1-2 psi -
True but I mean in the future!

I'd want to know exactly what happened and where the damage was. The price is OK. Not mind blowing as it's a CAT D and very unlikely someone will buy it if putting up for sale

IS300h Service Intervals & a Dilemma!
rayaans replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Yes its cheaper to get the MOT separately as you have done. Its because I got the service plan which is fixed. As my Essential care service is next year, would you mind posting up the card thing that you get after the service just so I can see what its like? -
Yep its all Claims Management Companies who make money by lifting the cost of insurance through providing fancy hire cars as courtesy cars.

My wiper motors don't make any noise at all.. And i don't have any wind noise at speed. As above I would get it checked out. Had the windscreen been changed as that could explain both issues.

IS300h Service Intervals & a Dilemma!
rayaans replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Yep that is a rip off. You can pick up a Mann filter from ECP using their offer codes for less than £13. Fitting is dead easy. It's literally in the glove box. 2 minute job. I paid £648 for 2 years. Taking the cost of MOTs off at £49 each it's £550. So the price will roughly be around £175-195 for a minor and £355-375 for a major. And they include the hybrid health check so technically cheaper than Toyota..... -
IS300h Service Intervals & a Dilemma!

Are you on Essential Service too? The Edinburgh stamping method sounds much better. Don't understand why all dealers can't just do that. Regardless, I don't really care, and neither will buyers if they can see that it's had all it's services. The info can be found on MyLexus app as well -
IS300h Service Intervals & a Dilemma!

Air filter is included. Don't think the cabin filter is though but I'll do that myself it's dead easy. -
IS300h Service Intervals & a Dilemma!
rayaans replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Yes they will because it's still a Lexus Service and has been done "according to Lexus standards" The essential care plan is for 2 services and 2 mots - £648. 2 years for the Standard plan was £945 Inc 2 MOTs -
IS300h Service Intervals & a Dilemma!
rayaans replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
So I've basically managed to answer some of my own questions by speaking to the dealer whilst arranging another service plan for the IS as its running out after my next service on 29th August. 80k includes air filter, hence why its more expensive than 40k. Also, I got quoted £944.84 in total for 60k/6years (Air filter and spark plug change in addition to a 20k service) and 70k/7 year service (standard intermediate service) and 2 MOTs (at £27.42 each). Obviously this price is ridiculous, especially as I dont need a spark plug change at less than 20k miles. So, I opted for Lexus Essential Care for the IS for £648 which includes a major and a minor service and 2 MOTs. Also includes a voucher for 2-for-1 Lexus Roadside Assistance so another £125 saving Lexus Bradford said that they would not stamp the service book but they use an "essential care service stamp card". Frankly, I dont care. For a saving of £425 over 2 years, Id rather miss the stamp! -
Meh, Admiral sent an email whilst I was on holiday They want written details of the incident to send to the third party insurance company so that they can claim it back! No wonder I couldn't get anywhere with trying to claim the £450 uninsured loss (excess) back from the other company who were like "we have not received anything".

How do you know its cheaper? Did Lexus send you a price list in your dreams? Lexus don't need to try... they have an ES350 for other markets but its not coming to the UK. Does it matter? If so you should have bought a 535i as it does 0-60mph in less than 5.6s.... If you've driven a Lexus hybrid, which you have, then you'd know that 1) the Lexus 0-60mph times are underrated as seen in Alex on Autos vids and 2) in real world driving, not drag racing, the mid range acceleration is where they are better.

The stale smell is due to bacteria etc so I would assume that the previous owners didn't have it on all the time. You need to clean the system out with an air con bomb. You can do it yourself: https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/p/-/-/-/-/?NOR2897300&0&cc5_101&gclid=CjwKCAjwwdTbBRAIEiwAYQf_E-gwZ7XN5eG6rb2hY61GQSv6r3wDK03484aaIOi_u6fhaSVQDaol1xoCyckQAvD_BwE https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/p/-/-/-/-/?NOR2897300100&0&cc5_101&gclid=CjwKCAjwwdTbBRAIEiwAYQf_E_CwUUjYYUfw4Z5IBHjtmPqA1SUWNWxHLZ_gCE0TjkTLO_zKbPHt3RoC8AgQAvD_BwE Use both products together - currently can be had for under £10 for both using code AUGUST12 However, before you splurge, check for damp as that might be the cause as mentioned above.

Was it like shuddering? Potentially misfire - what is the mileage and has it had its spark plugs changed? Also could just be normal - most modern cars do it. Something to do with warming up the catalytic converter quicker but its mostly on a cold start - my RX does it on cold mornings

Goodbye Is300h F sport
rayaans replied to PhilWebster's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Nice! Same colour combo as both our IS and RX! If only I could get my son to get an RC in that colour combo as well ! -
RX450h Spark plug change
rayaans replied to Barry7's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
On the RX its quite a fiddly job - have to almost disassemble half the engine from what others have said -
Flat battery - surprising
rayaans replied to BaransuIS250's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
There were a few duff batteries going around on the IS at some point, and some came from the factory with loose terminals
