Lexus smart cover and structural blue
rayaans replied to bvhout's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
That's because the paint was defective. It chips and cracks because it's not stuck properly to the panels. -
Lexus Service, first time customer, not impressed
rayaans replied to Zubair's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Whilst the service you got wasn't great they will not proceed without authorization so you have to give that first. It seems like there may be water in the system but I would certainly check the 12v battery first due to the myriad of electrical issues. -
30 day exchange
rayaans replied to Herkyboy's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
They can't change the value. Try sending off some emails to Lexus UK if this persists. -
They are picky - will insure an IS300h though but not an RX so I suspect it may be to do with engine size. Only reason I posted was because my FIL has had a quotation from the usual comparison websites etc on his Merc C220 of £900 (that was the cheapest) as he has 3 points and a claim from when someone reversed into him These lot gave a quote of £192 per year + 4.4p per mile. He does 3-5k miles so works out about £420 tops

30 day exchange
rayaans replied to Herkyboy's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
You'd have to ask for the T&Cs but yes, the wording is exchange so you can swap it for another vehicle at that Lexus Centre within 30 days for free providing the value is the same or you're willing to make up for extra cost. Whats wrong with the vehicle? -
Only holds mileage data, not speed by the looks of it.

Please check your back seats in RC300h
rayaans replied to AKY15's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Except the previous owner..... surely? -
Very interesting concept and the quotes are ridiculously cheap if you do low mileage. You basically pay up front for being insured for parking, and then pay per mile you drive. They send you a tracker in the post which you plug into the OBD port. 5 star defaqto rated too!

IS250 Factory Tyres
rayaans replied to baviaannl's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Yes from factory. Won't do any harm having the same diameter on both axles as the 3rd gen is on 225/40 r18 and 255/35 r18 -

Service and MOT yesterday
rayaans replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Nothing wrong with them. They keep passing the hybrid health check anyway It's not the front tyres which are wearing on outer edges though. The fronts are fine but close to legal limit It's one rear tyre - the potenza that's wearing on outside. It has a squarer shoulder than the turanza -

Service and MOT yesterday
rayaans replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I checked them today and they are what they say they are so I know they're not trying to pull a fast one. Did take a look at who did it and its a service tech I dont recognise. I hope my good man Simon hasn't disappeared because I cant remember the last time I had an advisory with him unlike the idiots at kwik fit who put "panels fitted obscuring view" or something like that for advisory on everything -
Service and MOT yesterday
rayaans replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Probably although they didnt give me the usual tyre + pricing sheet -
I dont get smears on the glass when using Rain X as I wipe with a damp cloth. The smear comes is there when the wiper wipes the water at night and it momentarily blocks vision

Are we all certain we're talking about popcorn here or is it an innuendo....?

Service and MOT yesterday
rayaans replied to rayaans's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Yes I guess so but I would expect there to be a definition of "close to legal limit" otherwise they could put it on tyres which are on 4mm or so. -
It was the 5th service (and 3rd MOT) for the IS yesterday and it was mostly OK. Now the MOT concerns me. The main reason being that I've measured them myself and they're 3.0mm across all 4 ridges and I haven't seen "edge wear" on the fronts. Additionally, what constitutes as "close to legal limit". Last time I checked, the legal limit was 1.6mm and the fronts are almost double that lol Awkwardly, the rear tyres are 3.1mm/4.2mm/5.1mm and 4.5mm/4.2mm/4.0mm. Should mention that one of them is a bridgestone potenza which replaced a punctured Turanza before we bought the car. Other 3 are all turanza so I wonder if its the wider shoulder of the Potenza causing the accelerated wear on the outer edge. So it appears our car is doing something unusual to most F-Sport's and wearing on the "outer" edges rather than the inner ones. And to top it off, I had an alignment done on the last service which showed exactly the same pattern. So would you say the alignment specs are off or odd tyres?
-
Certainly looks better IMO. Few pics of the F-Sport which is the highest selling variety in the range. New wheels look fantastic as do the LC style mirrors. Glad to see they're moving away from horrendous diamond cut wheels on the F-Sport. A new Blue is coming as well "Blue Vortex" in the US, not sure what it'll be called here but probably something boring like "Sonic Blue" 😂 real life pics of the wheels.

Thank you. Well technically this wasn't a full detail as I only did the outside. I don't use RainX on the windscreen because I find that it leaves a smear behind in the night time which I dont like so I use powermaxed Rain Off instead which I bought to try on the windscreen which doesn't do this. On the inside of the windows, I use Nilco Glass cleaner from B&Q. Its the best glass cleaner I have tried to date. The trick is to use it with a dedicated glass cloth (30-40p from home bargains or similiar) to leave a smear free window.

Unlikely replacement under warranty -
Decided to detail the RX today as I had a free day Products used - Carchem 1900:1, APC for arches, Autosmart Smart Wheels 10:1, Powermaxed Tar Off, Angelwax Revelation fallout remover, Clay mitt, Britemax Black Max followed by Bilt Hamber Double Speed Wax. Side and rear glass done with 1 coat of Rain X and 1 coat of Powermaxed Rain off. Windscreen and Pan roof polished with Autosmart Glass Glow followed by 3 coats of Powermaxed Rain off. Plastics - Armorall Shield (not its conventional use) and tyres done with Autosmart High Style. Not too dirty, but I tend to wash based on wheel dirt rather than paintwork dirt. As can be seen, wheels were filthy. Not a fan of OEM Brake pads/discs on the 4RX. Yes, they have better performance than the 3RX but my gosh they spew out dust like nothing else. Angelwax Revelation doing its thing Power maxed Tar off making the tar run off. Rain off beading on the pan roof Love a reflection shot. Pics aren't the best, Im no photography expert but I would highly recommend Britemax Black Max. Makes the paintwork look like flowing water almost!

If you cannot choose lexus what brand would you go for?
rayaans replied to dutchie01's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I'd probably go to Volvo -
Sounds about right. Try driving an Audi, its 10% or so! Makes you wonder about all those Audi drivers.....
