  1. Does look quite easy. Much easier than the Jags door panel I pulled off recently. Having said that I don't fancy breaking anything so I'll probably just leave it my friend to sort out who's an auto electrician lol
  2. So the radio has arrived. Looks exactly the same and has the SD card inside which is good. Just waiting on my auto electrician to sort it out now.
  3. I suppose that's with all vehicles before the new fuel economy tests. I think they rated my RX as 45mpg! Having said that the figured are unusually bang on for my Jag XE-S
  4. Its a bit rough in town, smoothens out on the motorway considerably. To other SUV's, depends on what youre comparing it to. Its less offensive in terms of ride quality compared to the German "sporty" SUVs of the same era
  5. Fuel economy is excellent in my opinion. I did a 40 mile trip recently with cruise control set at 77mph and I achieved 45mpg.
  6. In comparison to Bolton I mean. Literally I just get on the M62 and M60 and I'm at Stockport.
  7. I'm between Bradford and Leeds, closer to Bradford though. I went to Bolton once but found it awfully congested in terms of the dealership itself. Parking was poor in my opinion so preferred Stockport and it's easier to get to for me
  8. So it was booked in with Lexus Bradford but it closed and became Toyota Bradford who checked the fuses but didn't have the diagnostic machine apparently to check the radio. Now all my car's are under RRG service plans and they have full record of what I've had done with the car too. The closest one after Bradford is Stockport for me so just let Toyota Bradford book it into Lexus Stockport. Stockport didn't even charge me diagnostics as the problem is completely new to them and they were quite shocked at the repair price
  9. Yep it doesn't work on cars newer than late 2014 as the head unit just dies. Seems to work for newer vehicles I sent an email to Lexus customer relations. They're liaising with Lexus Stockport to find out the cause. I'll hang fire on fitting this used unit for a bit and see what they come up with
  10. The radio unit still has power. It's lit up and the cd ejector still works Apparently it's the receiver itself that has failed. The unit isn't a pioneer. It's a Fujitsu Ten
  11. No I mean the radio unit where the cd goes in. There isn't a problem with the screen if you're able to see the reversing camera. In the later 2014 models the reversing camera appears to go directly to the screen whereas in early models it goes via the radio so everything goes together
  12. I presume so. They can't exactly wriggle out of it if you turn up in a car with sat nav, radio and everything working, you turn it on to leave and its dead! Hopefully this unit works straight out of the box!
  13. Auto Detox is the only one I can see near solihull thats recommended by Detailing World
  14. Failing head unit. I had the same issue after battery change Seems to be a common problem with the 2014MY IS
  15. Its availabe on the 3RX F-Sport as I had the option of specifying it when i bought mine in 2012 new. Its extremely rare, not many people went for it at all
  16. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-3rd-gen-2014-present-249/ This is the 3IS thread page on clublexus There are a few posts, more recently probably because of the pandemic regarding radios on 2013/14 IS models.
  17. Have you got the shiny black finish on the heater controls or the matt black? I understand the later models are Matt black plastic and they don't suffer from this issue To be safe I would take it to a Lexus dealer to change the battery.
  18. All on ClubLexus. Apparently happening a lot there with 2014MY after a battery change the unit just goes dead. Doesnt seem to affect later models. There's 3 or 4 on th 3IS page fairly recently.
  19. Doesnt make sense but apparently its a known issue in the US Anyway, I called Lexus Breakers in Accrington and spoke to Scott who took the part number and said give him 30 mins, he'll see if he has any. Good news is - he's found the same unit 86804-53P41. Its tested and working with 2 months warranty and has the SD card inside. £375+vat so £450 all in. Will get my local auto electrician to fit the unit next week and hopefully should have a working radio!
  20. Do you know whether a 2015 unit would work? Synetiq have the premium nav unit and heater controls so I could swap that over It just looks like the 2015 version is a Matt finish instead
  21. Tell me about it. Lexus parts direct said they can get an exchange unit for £5700 and then they'd refund £3200 once the old unit was received! 🤣 I suppose that would cost £2500 plus fitting so probably £2640 with one hour labour
  22. Hmmm tricky. I might just try it. But then I might as well just ring this breaker tomorrow to see if they have the correct unit. Would be much less hassle I suppose I think the US versions are different and have different connectors go UK versions
  23. You're right it does look slightly different. Not sure if its a UK/US difference Ive found a car in accrington which appears to have the premium navigation. Ill give them a call tomorrow morning.
  24. I've sent them a message, hopefully should find out soon. I don't have time on my side. Ideally I'd like to sell the car as soon as the new one comes on March 1st so I don't mind £600 as a replacement unit is £2.5k new
  25. Not entirely sure to be honest. I know the ML amplifier is different but the radio should just plug and play either way shouldn't it with the premium nav setup
