  1. Am I missing something - I swear I read that you took the BMW to the dealership and they didnt change the brake fluid? Or did I just imagine it because I honestly cant find it anywhere! The other thing to remember is the goodwill side of things. I had an issue with the IS300h where the head unit died following a battery change. I followed the procedure to a tee but they said the radio went and everything goes through it on the earlier IS models. £4K repair bill for the head unit. Lexus Parts Direct quoted me £2800+ for the part alone. The car had a full service history and relatively low miles and Lexus UK fixed the problem and warranted it for £500. I suppose you pay your money, make your choices but its always handy to have a FLSH if something does manage to go POP, even if it is your fault!
  2. Bit of a pointless answer really - Could have just summed it up by saying "read the T&C's"
  3. 75mph w/ short bursts of 80mph to overtake vehicles that couldnt maintain a constant speed! The range went down by 39 miles, yet the odometer went up by 42 miles lol. The battery was not fully charged. I put in around 29.2kwh and stopped it at 90%. So on a full charge I would expect around 175 miles showing on the range-o-meter. The Lexus Link app gives two different ranges. One with AC and one without. Without AC, at 90% it was showing 176 miles. I understand no one would drive without AC on but its just interesting to know I havent experienced cold temperatures in the UXe yet so cant comment However, from my experience, the range in the UXe remains relatively consistent despite journey types.
  4. Okay so Ive just done a 42.2 mile trip in ECO mode. Approximately 38 miles were motorway at 75 mph adaptive cruise control. AC running the whole way and temperature outside was 18-23 degrees. Started off with 157 miles and pulled up at home with 118 miles remaining. I reset the miles/kwh reading at the beginning. It was doing around 3.6miles/kwh when I got to the motorway. When I got home it was on 3.2 miles/kwh
  5. So i put in 29.2kwh today. It went up from 59 mile range to 157 on the app. So its estimating a consumption based on previous usage at 3.3 miles/kwh as it stands. Not sure why because my last trip was 2.7miles/kwh
  6. The likelihood is youve just dulled it up. I dont think you would have gone through unless using really heavy pressure. Was there any colour on the pad you used? Go over it with some autoglym SRP again and youll know if youve gone through it as itll pull some colour out
  7. Is it a metallic squeak or a rubber kind of squeak? Doesnt seem like general hybrid "lack of brake use" glazing if its happening whilst moving
  8. It keeps me going I suppose. Have 3 cars now to keep cycling through and another one when the daughter in law joins us in August! The colour is quite something. Its hard to tell on the photos but its got a lot of fleck in it. It seems to sparkle from quite a distance. I agree. I prefer something different. There is a Merc C-Class in the family which you might see in the background, but its OK as its Hyacinth red - quite a rare colour on those too!
  9. Well.... it wasnt just a wash. Haven't had chance to do it but gave the UXe a decent new car detail. Started off with this and doesnt look too bad from a distance - Process - Wash - DetailedOnline Lava snow foam, Carchem 1900:1 shampoo. AS Smart Wheels, APC, Autoglanz Rebound Decontamination - Powermaxed Tar off, DetailedOnline Fallout remover. The car didnt need a clay and didnt need a polish so wiped the whole car over with KKD Prep and went straight onto protection Protection - Raceglaze nano wheel sealant, Angelwax H2GO and Gyeon can coat Tyres done with Meguiars Endurance - dont really like it but needed to use it up! Quick vacuum inside and all done - for now....!
  10. I just buy them online. Never needed to provide any documentation apart from if I needed a specific plate that only some places sell and only if they insisted
  11. I found it difficult to drive smoothly in Sport. Normal was OK-ish but I found ECO the best for overall smoothness
  12. Should mention I've been driving it in eco mode exclusively. The throttle response is slightly too much in normal. And it's undriveable in Sport to the point where it spins the wheels on junctions with a tip of accelerator pedal
  13. Very happy with it. Range is fine for us to be honest. Again it's a second car so we're using the RX for long trips. The car has no nav. When you connect your phone using usb to the car it comes up with Android auto or apple carplay when pressing home button. It's really simple. I'm making a trip on Tuesday with the UXe. Will report back. On the motorway it's getting between 3 and 3.6 miles per kWh. In town it seems to dip. Gets about 2.3-2.5. Not particularly sure why. I did see the video. Not particularly sure what he means by noise. It has ASC so does drone on the motorway but I turned that off and it's silent. It's as quiet as my RX to be honest. I'd argue it's actually more quiet. I haven't had this range issue either. I've never let it get down to below 20 miles. But even then I can get a good 45kw in
  14. Check out DetailedOnline. No nonsense detailing products. Meguiars products are decent, but you pay for the marketing more than anything else. Same with autoglym Ive actually somehow managed to move nearly all my products over to them because they work, theyre cheap, provide free delivery and to me, theyre also local
  15. I think the issue is that he is a very junior member of the team and has had his hand twisted on a number of occasions, hence the discussion. He's brought it up to his manager but of course, nothing really gets done about it. Like I said though, the presentation of vehicles is extremely variable depending on the dealerships. Im sure some BMW dealerships are fantastic, as are some Lexus dealerships but you always get some that are poor. The RC-F in Scotland you mention did not need a respray. If you read the thread again, it had 3 chips on the roof which the OP said would need a respray in his opinion. Linas' case was poor I agree. No excuse for a car with no pads left. Im not sure what happened regarding the chip as I dont think Ive read the thread but again, I wouldnt expect them to replace the screen for a chip. Ive purchased a number of Lexus vehicles through different dealerships and they have been absolutely perfect. Im on my 5th now. Ive also purchased a Jaguar XE-S which was given to me with a "low washer fluid light" which the dealer said, it just needs a washer fluid top up. My arse, the sensor had gone. Ive also bought a number of Mercs, which on my search I noticed that the approved used scheme does not mean a car has to have any service history. As long as Merc inspect it, it can join the approved used scheme.
  16. There's one thing regarding tolerances. Completely different when it's manipulated to go through. My nephew is a BMW technician. Let's just say the practices in the workshop aren't exactly stellar. There's a lot of "ahh it'll be alright". And most of the time it is. ...until a customer buys a rather expensive M5 and turns out the brake discs and pads are worn more than theyre stated to be on the paperwork! Merc prep is pretty poor. They change pads quite keenly but tyres and discs are a different story
  17. My previous post is entirely true. Like I said there are many BMWs with discs under the minimum thickness on the forecourts. Plenty of owners on BMW forums regarding the "standard" of their used cars as well.
  18. That's not entirely true. There's multiple cars on BMW forecourts with discs under the minimum thickness It all varies on dealers and groups too. Some dealers don't sell cars with tires less than 6mm - Lexus Chester for example.
  19. The second hand part was £350. There's a brilliant lexus breaker in accrington that has all the parts, even some newer model ones. Lexus UK generally are very good on issues that are of extreme expense. They do have a policy which enables them to keep the car on the road and subsidise the cost. Our car was only worth £13k at that time so you can imagine £4k is nearly a third of it's value.
  20. The ride height of the LC is more than a Jaguar XE. I had an XE-S for a short while and I scraped the underside of the front bumper twice. It's only about 100mm
  21. It does have a reduced level of cover looking at Lexus Relax but still relatively comprehensive. Lexus are really good with owners though. If the car has a full Lexus dealer service history they'll pretty much give goodwill on anything. The head unit on our IS went. 20k miles and 7 years old. £4k to replace. An email to Lexus UK and they reduced it as a goodwill to £500. Took the old unit away back to the factory in Japan to see what the issue was too.
  22. I also wouldn't worry about mileage on Lexus vehicles. Itll have just sat on the motorway so obviously may have stone chips all over and road rash., Just needs a proper look before buying. You're better off getting a loan than financing at the moment.
  23. Works on any car with any clear coat. Doesn't work on single stage paint I've done it on loads You won't damage anything with a hairdryer. It won't get hot enough to burn through paint. I think with the Golf it took about 10 minutes of continuous heat but that'd been there for months On my RX it took less than 5 mins as it was on there for maybe 4 hours Just focus on a 15 X 15cm area. You should see it and then suddenly it'll just disappear. Almost like magic. Give it a go.
  24. It works up to a week after the bird droppings have been laid. Did work on a golf which had bird poo etchings from previous owner. Worked on my RX with no issue. Takes a bit of time but it's safe. What happens is that bird poo causes the clear coat to contract as it dries causing the etching. Heat simply realigns the clear coat back to its normal position There's too many references to compounding in this thread. There's no need to reduce the amount of clear coat unless it doesn't work with heat The best method is always hairdryer, doesn't work? Then heat gun. Still doesn't work? Then compound. Not compound first or even polish for that matter
  25. Don't need no polish. Hairdryer. Hit it hard for a few minutes. It'll disappear. Do this within a week
