Yeah I doubted the electric motor theory too. I can definitely feel the power going to the wheels and the whole car lifts up but it just doesn't move at all. AA has arranged for a large tow truck for tomorrow morning. He had a doubt that it'd fit into my driveway in which case theres another problem! If they do get the ccar away, it'd be dropped at Lexus Bradford who will check it out. Will keep you guys updated!

Gear shifter moves from park into all positions. No problems with gear selection. When disengaging the parking brake by foot, the symbol also goes on the dash so that's working right? Both sides were checked - rear wheels rotate by 0.5-1 inch only but front wheels are free to rotate. How do you unlock the rear differential?

Long story short, I went on holiday for 3 weeks and just got back today. I was worried about the battery but the car starts and runs. It is parked in a garage with the front facing the back of the garage. Problems - 1) Car doesn't reverse even though parking brake is off and the back of the car rises like its about to pounce 2) Car doesnt go forward and the front rises like its going to pounce but doesnt go anywhere 3 - Called Lexus roadside assistance who sent the AA bloke who was there for a good 2 hours. He thought it was the rear brakes stuck. He jacked up the car and hit the drum with a mallet and eventually concluded its not the brakes as there's about 0.5-1 inch turn in both rear wheels. So here I am, stuck with my beloved Lexus that can't move out of the garage - any suggestions or ideas please? Would really appreciate it. Car is still under warranty until June 2015. The AA bloke reckons the rear wheels are locked but no idea on why as he came to the conclusion that the brakes are not stuck because the wheels move slightly Another issue is that the AA bloke said it'd be difficult to get a big truck into my drive so no idea on how to take it out :(

Hands down reliability goes to Lexus. Merc doesn't come close in this regard, especially the E class model you have mentioned. Performance - Again goes to the Lexus. Specs say it does 0-60mph in 5.9s whereas the E350 CDI is 6.9s. What the specs dont tell you is that the Lexus has progressive power the higher you go up in the rev range. The Merc is turbocharged which means it runs out of puff higher up in the rev range. The Merc will probably feel more lively due to the huge torque figures but the Lexus is more relaxed and is actually faster. Maintenance - Best bet is to check servicing prices at dealers. Some people are still scared of buying a hybrid - dont really see why as there have hardly been any problems with them whatsoever. All in all if you do high mileage - maybe 20k a year, get the Merc as it'll have better economy over long distances. The GS450H is built for the city where you'll get great economy and a more relaxed drive + the engine is silky smooth!

Lexus Nx True Mpg
rayaans replied to jawadarif's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
That's actually shocking. May as well have put the 450h engine inside - Im easily getting 30mpg in my RX with a lead foot and no hybrid driving technique doolalley whatsoever. I just drive it like a normal car! and I live in Yorkshire - probably the most hills in the UK :P -
Nice! Who was the salesman? Was it Jason Gregory? He's the only person there who actually cares about the customers! Ill be brutally honest - Lexus Bradford sucked the last time I went to them before they were part of the RRG group. 2 years ago, I went to view an RX450h F Sport to compare colours as they had a black one and a white one. I said I wanted to buy knowing which colour I wanted and they didnt call back - ended up losing £50k worth of business in the end. I was with another salesperson as Jason Gregory had gone to Land Rover! I tried a few times and gave up - went 30 miles away instead to Stockport who gave me the best deal and better service! I wonder if they've changed now they're part of the RRG group Hi!! I wasn't aware that RRG had only been involved with Lexus Bradford for the last two years - but I can only speak as I find and I have been pleased with their service - so perhaps RRG have turned things around!! Yes they used to be part of another group - the only Lexus dealer in the country of that group and they were good in 2004 when I bought my first car with them - possibly because I only spoke to Jason Gregory who was a true bloke! He personally delivered the car in late 2004 to my house and then went to work at Land Rover. He's just come back to Lexus Bradford recently if I recall correctly. I had trouble with my RX300 servicing though and I recall that quite clearly. The service problems and the subsequent visit in 2012 to buy a new RX450h F Sport which didn't go very well, firstly because the manager was a total arrogant sod - Paul Fagan (he's either left or been sacked). I was clear that I wanted an RX450h to my "new" salesperson. She says "ill speak to the manager". The manager comes and says "ok we'll give you £4700 for the RX300 and £3k off the new one". I said I can get a better price on my car and a £5k discount from another dealer. At that point he kept showing me the non-facelifted RX models which I made clear I didnt want and eventually I lost it, told him his attitude is very poor and if he want's sales, he needs to act appropriately and stop pushing cars on me that I dont want to buy. The saleswoman was quite amused actually. Said I put him in his place as he always has a bit of an attitude anyway. I walked out - didnt even get a call from the salesperson! Therefore, just bought my car at another dealer - its Bradford's loss :)

Will I Am Special

Hah! Thats true - from a distance you cant see the tiny brake discs compared to the HUGE rims. It genuinely looks stuck together with glue than properly done! -
Paid £500 back in 2004. Thought the st georges cross tied in well because it looks like the first aid sign :)

Is300H Servicing And Software Coding...
rayaans replied to ganzoom's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Well again the need for winter tyres depends on your work, where you live and alot of other factors. Im self-employed so I can change my work times and when I work (usually) so its not a huge issue for me - still havent taken a day off work since 2011 though apart from the obligatory annual leave -

I dont think it stores 2 sets of monitors. It depends on how many miles you're wife is doing as to winter tyres. My wife does about 4k a year and in the winter I drive the Merc as she's too scared to drive an RWD car in the winter so she gets the RX when its snowing or icy. I havent had any of my cars to date fitted with winter tyres - never needed them. The Merc is fine anyway. I had an issue with climbing a hill 2 years ago but turning traction control off did the trick. RX has never had any fitted either and never been stuck -
WOW that is some nasty stuff. They'll definitely sort it out or atleast find out the cause - its to be expected being the first year of the NX. After who knows how many billions in investment, and the legendary Lexus build quality; I would refute that statement. I would not expect any problems in the first year of the NX. That said, I accept problems do occur. I have a moto; its not about the problem; its about how you *deal* with the problem. There could be something in that. The plate was plated with plates provided by my company car leasing company. I just "flicked" the plate this morning - it sounds awfully familiar. Strangely, despite the noise happening with Maroon 5's "Moves like Jagger", the noise did not occur this morning when Sammy Davies Jr was singing "Talk to the Animals". Lexus have had first year problems with all their vehicles if I recall correctly - RX400h had a recall, GS is having a recall, IS has software issues and suspension leaks etc Am I right in thinking the NX has a subwoofer in the actual boot lid? If so it could be the numberplate. Put "move like jagger" on again and take the number plate off - see if it helps. Its probably the bass in the song causing a vibration in the lid. Now I know why my Lexus has medical grade tape where the screws are behind the number plate!! :P Foolishly, I took it off which may be why Ive heard a noise going over bumps coming from outside when the windows are open?
-
Ill take a pic of both plates on Friday when I get home :)

OK - seen as though I got into trouble with this a few months back I'll let you folks know what is legal and not legal. Plates with the union jack, st georges cross etc etc is illegal IF displayed on its own To be legal - it has to have an identifier for example, GB, ENG, UK, CYM. I only had the st georges cross - goes well with the Doctor number plate :P and I got pulled over and told to change the number plate. He said it'd be OK if I got GB put at the bottom

Is300H Servicing And Software Coding...
rayaans replied to ganzoom's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
As far as Im aware - the Lexus vehicles are pretty much non-tuneable by the OBD port method. Im sure you can erase codes and the like but I doubt there's any software around to change the car's characteristics. As for servicing, I'm not too sure - being a hybrid, Id rather get it serviced by Lexus themselves. I know Kwik Fit had an issue with a CT200h when I took my wife's Merc in there, no idea what but something definitely went wrong as the car needed towing away. Ive also read some horror stories on the american forums too hence decided to go with Lexus to be on the safe side. Ive had 2 services, they haven't missed anything yet and they're on the ball - well mine are anyway! Good thing is - with the hybrid you wont be needing many parts etc brakes wear at a very very slow rate! Im on 10% after 2 years driving 10k miles a year! -
Is This A Good Time Or Not?
rayaans replied to bluenose1940's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Trading in is good at this time of year but selling privately, it wouldnt be a good time in the winter months. Bear in mind that although you may get £1k more by selling privately, you may get the dreaded tyre kickers and idiot test drivers as well as people who give silly offers. Depends on how confident you can sell it quickly and how much hassle your prepared to go through -
High Audio Volume Upon Ignition
rayaans replied to Rabbers's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
You are almost certainly right. I just had a look in the car and saw that the ASL was switched off, I don't know why but probably because I fiddled around with the audio controls out of boredom and to no good purpose when waiting for my wife in a car-park somewhere. I'll see what happens when I use the car tomorrow. Thanks. Easy fix - turn the audio off before switching the car off. That's what I do with every car Ive owned! Right. But even small things like that require the sort of self-discipline I haven't got. How do you manage to put the parking brake on then? :D -

From my experience December is really the best time to buy. I also asked my sales guy this - and he said December really does get you the best deals simply because of the sales targets that the dealers have by the end of the year which is why they tend to give out things like 0% finance and £1000 off etc etc
