The only issue is the Volvo saloons are a bit dire. The S60 is a bit of a poor effort IMO, could have been so much better. And I think most people use paddles for engine braking down hills. The other thing is Polestar 1 is hard to find. And after seeing a Polestar 2 it's got a very poor quality interior in terms of materials

One year of ownership & still loving my IS300h
rayaans replied to Bounce75's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
While I agree the service was subpar for Lexus standards, your experience just outlines main dealers in general. Having said that if diagnostics are showing everything is good then its hard for them to do much. Bear in mind that Lexus UK are paying for anything the dealer does or replaces. If you think the service you received was poor, you should try Mercedes or BMW. -
Well there's a few hefty discounts available for cash buyers and it's almost always cheaper to buy outright on those big barges anyway unless they have some ridiculous finance offers on. Unlikely as the lease market gives huge discounts mostly on the big standard versions hence why there are so many appliances on the road nowadays But yes the prices of vehicles in general are going sky high. I remember when I bought my RX300 in 2005 for £35k new. It'd cost me £60k now. As is the way of life I suppose

I suppose that is true to an extent. The ES, despite Lexus claims of being a GS replacement is in the middle between an IS and GS. Its prices and interior quality reflects that. For example, its nowhere near as expensive as a 5 series or an A6 spec for spec. The A6 Vorsprung with a 2l diesel engine is almost £64k new compared to an ES300h Takumi which sits around £50k.

One year of ownership & still loving my IS300h

The new IS will be coming out in the next few years and is an EV The concept was recently revealed a few months ago -
Ours is £390 on the UX300e

I think the system is designed just fine. Bear in mind my battery issues on the IS300h started when the car was 7 years old and it has 20k miles on it so it was a vehicle driven over short distances averaging around 2k a year in our ownership. We did go on holiday to India for 3-4 weeks at a time and it started up fine too. The other thing to be wary of on the new Lexus models is connected services - its been draining the battery on the UXe in 2 days despite being driven normally. Turned it off and its been fine ever since.

Just get them refurbished. It shouldnt cost anymore than £100 per wheel provided its not cracked as its a standard paint finish.

Lexus IS 300h Rear Privacy Glass
rayaans replied to Gaurav Bhandari's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Yes I dont think any of them came with privacy glass from factory. I had it done on my C-class last year and paid £100 for Llumar film and labour - some of the other films are cheaper. Took about an hour to do the rear side windows and the back window. -
Yes I agree. The steering wheel on the Q4 is horrid and looks like cardboard. I'm glad I went for the UXe now as it's actually built very well

There was no difference between the top spec £60k one and the £40k one
-
Yes which is why I was quite confused. The dashboard is ok at best. But the door cards are hideous. They're hard plastic from top to bottom. The handles felt very nice however as they are pure metal.
-
Anyone considered one? The reason I bring it up is I went over to Trafford Centre over the weekend and they've got a "Polestar Shop" so to speak with 2 Polestar 2's and a Polestar 1 perched inside. They were letting people touch and sit inside the polestar 2's so I thought why not, lets check it out. I wasnt keen on the shape but the interior had a nice design. Quality was another matter entirely. Fit seemed to be good and solidly built but the materials were probably the worst Ive noted on any vehicle north of £28k, let alone a car costing £45k. The leather interior was an extra £4k on top No leather interior, everything was cloth and quite poor cloth at that, not even alcantara. The door and dash were pretty nasty as well. Hard plastic on the dash and the front door cars in an effort to be "sustainable" I believe. Very scratchy too with a funny corrugated texture on part of it. All the reviews are claiming the materials are top notch so I was quite shocked.

When to Charge the 450h+ PHEV
rayaans replied to ABitterman's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I think Number 2 is correct. It'll use the brakes and coasting to charge up the battery albeit relatively slowly. The other questions is, if you're buying privately, whether the extra £8-9k of the 450h+ is actually worth it -

rayaans replied to ABitterman's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I wouldnt pay ££££ for the wallbox as already mentioned the battery is small (18.1kwh) it should charge from 3 pin in 7-8 hours. The 450h+ can be used exclusively as a hybrid as well so will function like the 350h. I dont think its possible to charge the battery fully on long trips whilst driving. -
What I Do not Like about my 2021 NX300H
rayaans replied to Dave 2951's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
1) give that a go, itll be so much easier 3) TBF when washing the car I leave the cap open fully anyway as otherwise you cant clean inside it and it has a tendency to drip. When Ive cleaned the car and its closed I dont use any pressure so its not an issue for me. 7) the windows closing by holding the lock button has to be programmed either by the dealer or getting the carista app so if it doesnt work, dont give up! -

Yes you can do that by pressing the little indent on the handle -

Interesting views. 1) I think the door locking on walking away is not available as Lexus deems it unsafe. Its similiar to how Mercedes do it. The issue with walk away locking is it leaves a window albeit relatively short to get into the car or for kids / pets to get locked in. 2) I think memory seats are spec dependant? 3) What do you mean by the petrol cap being open after washing? it shouldnt be doing that unless you've touched it. 4) Agree - although I think if the key is within a few feet of the car it will unlock when the boot opening button on the car is pressed. 5 and 6 - agree. 7 - The car can be configured that if you forget to close the windows, you can do it by holding the lock button on the key down. Its dealer only unless you have the carista app -
2023 RX
rayaans replied to Fatts's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
I was impressed with the new 3 series and 5 series. They had well built interiors but obviously not lived with them long enough -
2023 RX

The newer Audi's are cutting corners the most I think. We've just ordered a VW Golf and the A3 had thinner carpet mats as well as the actual carpet inside. Obviously the badge and interior design will be enough to sway most people but there doesnt appear to be much difference between the A3 and Golf quality wise any longer. Merc are OK at best. We had a lot of rattles sorted out in the C class centre console and air vents. Some still remain but I cant find where they are coming from. Its also had creaking seals replaced. I do think BMW dont tend to have many rattles but they have issues of their own Having said that, all our Lexus have been fine apart from my 3rd generation RX. It had a rattle around the rear seat coming from going over bumps. My current RX has no rattles yet at 45k miles and the UX is fine. -
There's a lot of hogwash around. Like I said, I have an RX which is very quiet and I would say the UXe is on par in terms of outright quietness no matter what speed its travelling at. I do have a noise meter on my phone. Ill try to record it myself at some point But.... because this is the internet, and everyone reads it and takes it as gospel: Whatcar figures are completely opposite Lexus UX300e - Volvo XC40 recharge Noise at 30mph 60.1dB Noise at 30mph 60.5dB Noise at 70mph 66.1dB Noise at 70mph 67.3dB Polestar 2 Tesla Model 3 performance Noise at 30mph 61.8dB Noise at 30mph 63.1dB Noise at 70mph 68.5dB Noise at 70mph 70.1dB

All the UXe in the UK have been on Michelin primacy. The list is suggesting that the UXe is close to the model 3. That's completely not the case. I've also driven the ID3 and thought that had more noise. Perhaps the tyre is to blame seen as though the model 3 is at the bottom and in the middle but even so, the UXe is one of the quietest cars available right now including against some of Lexus own vehicles like the ES
-
For a start the UXe comes with Michelin tyres most of the time. Additionally, it's almost as quiet as the RX at cruise and certainly quieter than the ES300h and my C200 as well as the Jag XE I had before that at 70mph The Tesla model 3 we tested before buying the UX was louder at speed than my C200 so I'm not convinced the results actually show a true picture. Either it's the Bridgestone causing a racquet or im simply a fool for buying a UXe outright
