Speed Sensitive Power Steering.
rayaans replied to Richard1200's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
That sounds spot on. My RX does the same thing. At 30mph or below i can turn the steering wheel with 2 fingers. At 70mph it takes a good hand to rotate the steering wheel the same distance as at lower speeds. Its basically what BMW call "variable steering" and is an optional extra. I think Porsche call it "servotronic" and thats an optional extra too! -

Ill be honest mate - I used to be into these high end "show waxes" and the like. I managed to get hold of Soft99 Fusso. Lasts a good 6 months, looks great and beading is insane! Best water behaviour Ive ever seen. Fusso and Meguiars Mirror Glaze #16 are unbeatable for what they cost! Fusso is a sealant costing maybe £23 max and Megs #16 is a wax. A proper wax should not be adding any sort of shine to a car - its for protection. The shine comes from polishing or by using a glaze. No point in getting an expensive wax when there are ones like Collinite, Meguiars, FK1000P and Fusso around. They all look the same in a blind test anyway - its just a placebo! Ask any pro detailer - waxes add F all shine unless they're loaded with gloss enhancers or fillers. A pure wax should add no shine whatsoever. -
And unfortunately all you got was a load of people boasting about how low their premium's are Problem is that most if not all insurance companies have crap customer service anyway so it doesnt matter. Had an accident in my wife's Merc when on LV. Totally was not my fault as I got hit in the side - the 25 year old chap didnt even look before changing lanes and LV paid £1000 for a damn scratch on his car from my mirror without even investigating which goes down as my fault! Is that good customer service then?
-
The extra £4500 is not worth it to be honest - stick with the F-sport - looks better than the Premier anyways!
-
Wow you guys must be driving very little or you live in an area with hardly any crashes or thefts! Im paying £298 for my wife's C220 CDI which is 11 years old and driven only 5k a year so you can imagine what mine is!
-
Looks great, exact colour combo I would have gone for if the car had enough kit. That MPG sounds about right - its important to understand that US MPG is less than UK MPG. Therefore, it'd be 24mpg city and 30mpg motorway which sounds right, especially since US is way colder at this time of year! The NX300h is nowhere near 7.8s, that'd be faster than an IS300h and equivalent to an RX450h?! If you drive like a normal person - you'll be getting about 35-40mpg in the NX I reckon.
-
Im personally too young for Saga although my father and his ridiculous MINI is with them. No problems with them. Im with Highway Insurance (who are actually part of LV) for both cars RX450h and C220 CDI through Chris Knott as Highway are through broker only. No problems and Ive been with them for 2 years as they were nearly half the price of LV on both occasions
-
The NX would have been a great size for me! I wanted the F-Sport 200t in Sonic White with Red leather, pan roof, Mark Levinson and HUD. Got told it can't be done so told my dealer I'd wait for the GS-F or the new RX. It's a stupid strategy and I'm not willing to give up features that I have on my current car as I use them frequently
-
The only difference AWD makes is that it means you're less likely to get stuck so 4x4 is really no advantage at speed where black ice could send any sort of vehicle into a ditch. Driving at 10mph in bad weather means you'll cause less damage if you do hit something - or possibly someone so I dont see the negatives of driving slowly in bad weather tbh

Starfire White Pearl - Gloss Or Satin?
rayaans replied to Zircon's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Jason is the sales guy I deal with, had nine from him so far!. Fred is the dealer principle and loves to go and find that elusive model your after. Only had the 1 from Jason so far after a bad experience at Bradford when they were another group. Bradford has seriously improved after RRG took over. Hmm might talk to Fred then when the car goes in for service in May - see if he can find that white/red F-sport - not too concerned about the miles or the age as long as its been looked after well -
Starfire White Pearl - Gloss Or Satin?
rayaans replied to Zircon's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Or maybe it'd be more relevant if it was asked in the RX section? Only the OP can tell us what colour he is referring to - the purpley bluey white or the ivory white -
Starfire White Pearl - Gloss Or Satin?
rayaans replied to Zircon's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Thats true but in other markets, Starfire pearl is in fact code 077 which is Arctic Pearl in the UK. Starfire pearl in UK is called Aurora pearl in the majority of markets including the US and its code is 078. Hence, if you google starfire pearl Lexus, it will come up with an Arctic pearl car. The confusion lies because I think the OP has been browsing on US sites such as clublexus where Starfire pearl is available on the IS and has code 077. Lexus are silly with names, why dont they just keep them the same in all markets. List of paints - UK US Starfire pearl Aurora White pearl Arctic Pearl Starfire pearl Solar Flare Molten pearl Sonic Titanium Atomic Silver Mercury Grey Nebula Grey F Sport white Ultra white Azure Blue Ultrasonic Blue 2.0 Atlantic Blue Deep Sea Blue Sonic Red Infrared Velvet Black Obsidian Celestial Black Stargazer Black Sonic White Eminent White List goes on -

One thing...Not giving it time to cool before switching off? This isn't an old school turbo here. Why would you need to do that? The dealer told me this too when I bought my car.....haven't heard it before with a NA engine. Load of porkies - Just switch the car off no harm done with N/A. If im right in saying, the new NX200t has to be cooled down before switching off, its written in the owners manual :) -

Get Fred to find you one. Never really talked to Fred. Jason's the man, but I think we might start looking towards the end of the first quarter. Surprised the Arctic pearl isn't available on the IS F-Sport. Its a lovely colour - prefer it to the F Sport White anyway -
Starfire White Pearl - Gloss Or Satin?
rayaans replied to Zircon's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
It is actually - Its called Arctic Pearl in the UK. Other markets including the US and Canada call it Starfire pearl. The Starfire pearl on the RX in the UK is actually called Aurora Pearl in the US. If you put Starfire pearl into google images, the paint will be Arctic Pearl guaranteed. Yes, the IS300h demonstrator at Lexus Stockport is Arctic Pearl. If only theyd get some older IS300h F Sport's in! Then id get one for the other half! -

Another point to mention is the colour of the wheels - they've been refurbed no doubt and are not standard colour. Also, take a look at the locking nuts - theyre black - that either means theyve been changed or theyre corroded - which in turn shows the strength of chemicals used on the car. If you want a blue with cream leather one - get the proveeda one on autotrader with 35k miles on the clock. If youre not too concerned about the colour the silver 58 reg one looks good. Apparently he's selling due to a new RC-F coming so Im sure itd be treated well. -

Another thing is to check that the equalizer settings are the same for all sources. Certainly in my RX450h the ML system had the equalizer in the middle. When I changed it for USB, it didnt change for the other sources so it may be worth checking. -

rayaans replied to bluenose1940's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
You wont have any problems at all. The only problem I can think of is leaving the car on the driveway turned on :P Even without the key the car will move and keep going until its turned off - if its stolen, you wont get anything from the insurance company How do I know? Last week my colleague did the same thing - left the car on the driveway turned on and went inside to get his bag. Someone drove the car away and insurance company is refusing to pay out on the grounds that it was not locked and was running. -
I Want To Buy A 2014 Ct200H And Need To Know How Bad It Is
rayaans replied to goferdave's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Tyre wear is hardly an issue on a CT200h. Im sure you could easily do 40k miles on a set. I have an RX450h with 3mm left and Im on 26k miles atm. The CT200h doesnt have as much weight as an RX so you could get high miles out of a set no problem. The CVT transmission is fine. Its super slick, you wont even notice any shifting, simply because there is no shifting. Its the most refined out of all the cars you've mentioned and with the 2014 facelift, its stiffer and the advance model which I had for a loaner feels like its on rails so im sure an F Sport would enhance that further. If its for your wife and she's doing mainly town/city driving, you should be seeing 50mpg + too and no road tax which is a bonus. Another thing to mention is that bar the Mazda, the others dont even come close to the level of specification that the CT200h has. You're going to be putting a lot of money into options on the A3 and BMW 1 series which looks awful IMO anyway. -
When you say poor mpg, what do you mean exactly? How much are you getting? The air con fan will always turn on when the car turns on unless it is set to AUTO, at which point, it should heat the air up first and then gradually turn the fan setting up and then regulate by itself. Can I ask how you know that the radiator fan is on? Did you take a look under the bonnet while the car is on? It may be that the fan helps to heat up the engine, like how a fan oven works but probably better if a mechanic answers that question.

Lexus Nx True Mpg
rayaans replied to jawadarif's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
As a matter of interest, I filled my tank to the brim at my local BP with standard petrol, nothing fancy like the BP Ultimate lol. Anyway - I reset the MPG monitor this morning and went for a 5 mile trip to the shops at perhaps 30-40mph and I managed to get 38mpg without the use of Eco or EV mode or any sort of eco-friendly driving. CD was playing the whole time, heated seats were on for a few minutes and the AC was set to Auto at a temp of 22 degrees too + it was showing 2 degrees as temperature outside. Quite pleased actually :D and im positive that the Dunlop tyres arent helping either!
