  1. ^^ I dont agree with any of these points completely. OK its slow - but only over 40-50mph. If you spend a lot of time in town or in the city its more than peppy enough. It doesnt feel slow at all less than 40-50mph. Noisy, yes it was noisy in the cabin but its better than a Golf or A3. Its quieter inside and its mainly tyre noise which comes through. A good set of tyres should sort that out. If you drive it normally - youll get 50mpg which is hardly bad - I absolutely gunned it and it was getting 45mpg so its not atrocious. There were no rattles in the CT200h Advance. My wife easily picks these up and she never said anything. Dont know which car you've been driving but the 2014 CT200h handles competently. Road holding is good, hardly any body roll through the corners. Ride is slightly harsh but again, handling is good. Better than any of the older models Lexus made including the 2nd gen IS, 3rd gen GS and 2nd gen RX The car is physically small but so are the others - thats the whole point of a SMALL car. Im 6ft1 and had no problems with headroom or legroom. Obviously, if you cant fit, your either obese or a bodybuilder.
  2. Lets not forget that whenever the car is running in EV mode, its technically not being broken in. Got to say, with my RX it took just over 7k to get over 30mpg. I was doing 25 before that and currently doing about 33mpg city and 37mpg on the motorway so im pretty pleased with the RX figures
  3. Its safe to assume that the render is slightly awkward looking - but it will look similiar. I doubt it'll look exactly like the render and the spy shots are looking very good indeed. But ever since Lexus brought out the "cheese grater" grill IMO it's been going downhill, it may be different but not to my taste, but then when I first bought my Mk1, I had the choice of one of the very last Mk1's to be registered or an early Mk2........needless to say I preferred the original design. That's not to say I didn't like the Mk2 and I was seriously thinking about changing my Mk1 for a Mk2 a few years ago, but my old bus was such a good "family friend" we decided to keep it. But the new designs just do absolutely nothing for us, shame be caused we loved our RX. Im the complete opposite. I feel that the older vehicles had no substance bar the 2nd gen RX which I had for 8 years. After they brought out the GS in 2012, they've been getting stronger and stronger, the sales alone shows that. If Lexus used the same technique as Audi and BMW do, which is to basically change a few lines on the car, they would'nt be where they are today.

  5. Depends what your needs are. Currently have 16" Dunlop Sp Sport fastresponse on the wife's car. Fuel economy is good, noise is also very good and it sticks to the road pretty well too. The Dunlop sport bluresponse is good too. I think I paid £100 for a pair of dunlop sp sport fastresponse brand new. Oh and they were in 215/55 r16 size if that helps, Im not too sure on CT size but they'll probably be available
  6. Cant say I can see the similiarity. The R-class is a ugly looking thing. The render proportions are all wrong but the silhouette spy shots look great!
  7. So..... here is the new 2016 RX. Firstly - Id just like to confirm that I have spoken to my source at Lexus - these are renderings as you can probably tell but according to my source shows 95% of the finished car. The one showed above would be the Luxury/Premier model. My source has seen pictures of the RX F-sport but there are non floating around just yet and I haven't been able to get hold of them. My source says there are a few discrepancies between the actual car and the above renderings which I have touched on below: 1) The proportions are slightly wrong. He mentioned the rear glass is slightly more angled and gives a sleeker look instead of the minivan look shown here and the rendering doesn't show the beefed up rear fender very well. 2) The rear windscreen wiper is in fact hidden, just as the current RX. As can be seen in the renderings, the rear wiper is in plain site 3) The wheels are not right. The render has just used current Advance spec wheels and pumped them up to 20". There will be 20" wheels available, just not that design. 4) He cant remember whether the wheel arches were plastic like the NX or colour coded. Guess we'll find out - hopefully at Geneva 5) He also can't remember if the fog lights had chrome around them but he thinks not as he cant remember noticing them too much 6) Lights are slightly different Oh and remember my last post on the 2016 RX where I said it had a distinctive C pillar? Well its a floating roof :). Ive been told that the luxury/premier models are not the most satisfying to look at. The F-Sport however is very aggressive :) Definitely looks better in the flesh ey?
  8. Pros and cons to everything I guess, not having a hinged door pocket reduces the chances of rattles. Features seem to come and go, my older GS430 and RX400h never had memory seats for the passenger seats even though when new they were relatively much more expensive than the current IS, and certainly more than the older IS, which was available at the same time. At least with the current IS you can set memory positions against the keys, so you don't even have to press a button if you don't want to :) Still that is just a software feature so hasn't really added to the cost of the vehicle. It does seem hard to justify the list price of the IS, especially the higher grades. Saying that all cars seem very over priced these days - I'm getting old :( Its the VAT lol
  9. It can be done as shown by the above pic. Apparently the NX only has 1 reversing light too. In the NX however, the other side has a fog lamp instead of the reversing light.
  10. Once again - Never paid at Lexus Stockport. Im sure they'd waive it if you just say you'll go elsewhere and cancel the contract (presuming you got the one that you can cancel at any point)
  11. I would have thought that there's no bulbs in the one that doesnt light up - Its probably just some sort of filler panel but If you did manage to get hold of it, I cant see why you wouldnt be able to wire it up. As for driving in daylight, there is nothing on the rear - you would have to switch on your rear lights for it to light up in the back.
  12. Could possibly be down to the corrosion on the calipers! Best get that checked out before you hit something! From the photo's the fronts do look much worse but Im still seeing a hint of corrosion on the rears. Get them checked just in case. The front's usually have more corrosion as they take the majority of the hit with all the brake dust and the bigger brakes up front. Hmm ABS going off you say - thats unusual. Must say in 10 years of motoring, Ive never had ABS going off with any car!
  13. The chemicals that Lexus themselves use can be dangerous depending on their dilution. As far as I am aware, most of the Lexus franchises use Autosmart products with "Smart wheels" beings used as a wheel cleaner. Problem is its highly concentrated and needs to be diluted - if someone has been using it neat on your wheels - it'll eat through almost anything. I use it at 1:10 dilution and is great for moderate to heavy soiling - using it neat is overkill and not recommended by Autosmart themselves - lowest dilution is 1:3. It may as well be the eastern european hand washes. Hand washes tend to use highly acidic wheel cleaners - shifts almost anything with minimal effort - including metal if left for long enough - maybe 3 mins. It could even be that safe wheel cleaners are being used and the caliper itself is defective - who knows?
  14. Nah your not - get Stockport to start looking for an LS460 or even the 600h :D Had a 600h as a courtesy car once, nice but huge! The RX even looked small next to it :) Still - it seems fit for a pensioner! Stockport only gave me a CT200h! :(
  15. Better get that to Lexus mate - they'll replace under warranty but they shouldn't look like that. Out of interest, what do you use to clean the wheels? And how long between washes do you go? Im just asking as it could be other factors so best to rule them out - especially as you don't want the same thing happening to any new ones that are on. Its been 2.5 years and the RX ones are still shiny so Id expect the IS ones to be the same!
  16. Nah your not - get Stockport to start looking for an LS460 or even the 600h :D
  17. Fair enough - I've never driven a Q3 but thought it'd be lower than the NX. Anyway good luck with it!
  18. and it's a smelly diesel which rattles! Last time I drove a Jag XF 3.0 it felt pretty lethargic tbh. The 1st gear seemed pretty tall and I was unimpressed by the shocking interior quality - leather was like vinyl and bottom of the doors was poor plastic imo not to mention the outdated touch screen. Have jag fixed the touch screen yet?
  19. Cant say the insurance bracket will be much different - maybe 1 higher but theyre just taking the mick if theyre trying to get double. They may do that on all new cars so you have no option but to be bullied into getting an insurance policy?
  20. Im sure there will be some hooks or something as a cargo net is available as an option is it not? Rear blind is available in other markets actually, I think they thought it wasnt needed in the UK as its raining or snowing most of the time.
  21. US MPG is lower than UK MPG btw. Usually the petrol only engines have a very similiar MPG compared to the variable nature of hybrid fuel economy. The NX MPG figure can surely be met but it takes serious dedication to do so and is not worth it IMO. Itll make you go crazy. I think the 200t will have cost more in development. Reason being is that the 300h drivetrain has been taken out of the Toyota Camry so has already been developed and is selling in huge numbers, therefore costing less per unit as they make them in big batches. Any deviation from the norm eg one 200t for every 9 300h's selling is going to cost something - depends on if theyre made on the same production line or not.
  22. Its got better performance though, hence its more expensive. The 300h engine is from the Toyota Camry in the US if I am correct so theyve been selling tonnes of them - the 200t on the other hand is all new so it takes money to develop from scratch.
  23. The NX200T seems to be the first to get the new car configurator. When you click "build your NX" on the NX200t page, itll open up a new tab with an updated car configurator! Its got full 360 degree click and drag and the car basically takes up the whole screen! Its still a bit slow but atleast it looks much better!
  24. Am i the only one thats had decent courtesy cars? Lexus gave me a Merc C220 CDI to drive for a day 7 years ago when my old RX went in for a recall. The other one I had was a CT200h - decent for a courtesy car anyway but wouldn't own one.
