Newbie Advice Please
rayaans replied to Matty RX's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
I'm guessing the car came with a thire party warranty as it was from a trade dealet? I'd be using that for the seized calipers personally. -
Bloody Typical!

Yeah just pay the extra excess to allow your own choice of repairer to do the work. Lexus should give you a courtesy car if work is done by them If he remembers he got whiplash, that's his problem as it was his fault lol. -

Yup looks like hes going to be paying 4 figs upon renewal if he isnt already! Luckily his insurance company is paying for it so it should be fine right? -
Thanks for the reply What do you recommend? I looked at the Michelin Latitude Tour HP, but they are all out of stock for the next 8 weeks, then one of the tyre fitters said they don't wear well and I am better off sticking with the OEM ones. The tyre fitters talking trash lol. They want to sell the tyre which has the highest profit, not the best tyre. The best thing to do is not to trust any tyre fitters and look at online reviews. From reading the reviews youll have an all round perspective instead of just the tyre fitters, who may or may not be trying to make a greater profit. Besides, how would a tyre fitter know if a tyre wears well or not? Its not like he's driving the car lol The OEM tyres are rated E for fuel efficiency and E for wet too. 71db for noise is about average however. The Michelin's are great tyres, good grip, good efficiency and eerily quiet

I bought some Merc Tyres last year £125 each and when I went to Tyre Spot to get them fitted they showed me that they were out of date. Although they would probably have still been good I tried to get a refund but got nowhere with the company. What do you mean by "out of date". Its safe to put a tyre on 2 years after its DOT number and I dont think the companies are allowed to sell tyres which are more than 2 years old as "new" either. They'll be labelled as part worn even though theyre new

Mine are from OPONEO. Came from Netherlands in 3 days. Pretty fresh, 45th week of 2014 too lol

Oh dear - hope the other guy had insurance because hes going to have a hefty bill by the looks of it! Where was this? Seen you're in Yorkshire! -
Hmm is that actually a Lexus showroom. Im a bit concerned as I have googled it and it seems as if they only do pre-owned Lexus cars and servicing, not new ones. It just seems really weird. It makes me think that they aren't a Lexus showroom at all and are in fact, just a Toyota showroom which do Lexus servicing. Its very odd. Ive never heard of Lexus Norwich either......... Also their cars dont seem to be on the Lexus Approved used website, whats going on here then? :O

Autosmart Leather cleaner and then stick some Autosmart Leather supplement on the top. Pretty much smells new

They should have offered a Lexus courtesy car IMO, especially with the amount of work needed. I would take this up with Lexus UK. Which dealer was this btw?

So, basically, I bought a set of tyres off OPONEO and needed them fitting! My local Kwik Fit has just got some top notch tyre machines in, it also helps that the manager of that particular branch is a good friend of mine so I thought, ill go there. How wrong I was - it appears that Kwik Fit refuse to fit any tyres bought anywhere apart from Kwik Fit, bunch of monopolizing gorillas! It doesnt help that they charge £202 each for tyres I got on OPONEO for £120 Now at this point I was pretty stressed out - the worst thing about changing tyres is scratches on the rim, especially when there is no touch up paint for the F-Sport wheels and one ding means respraying all 4! I dont like scratching my wheels but I can live with it however I ABSOLUTELY hate other people scratching them! Anyhow - I thought I'd give the local Lexus dealer a ring, see if they'd fit them for me. One ring and the phone was picked up, I was transferred to aftersales immediately and then quoted £50 inc VAT for all 4 wheels fitting. I was pleasantly shocked, I was initially expecting about £100 + VAT. They're going to be fitted on 8th April so ill let you guys know how it goes. It appears that Lexus are not so expensive for little things after all! Total price - £132.50 for each Michelin Latitude Tour HP. Im a happy bunny........ if they dont scratch my rims..........

Its similiar for any car with a pop -up hood. The Mercedes E-class cabriolet, S class and C-class use a pop-up bonnet, Nissan also uses this technology and the new BMW 3 series which is coming out is going to have a pop up bonnet too. The pop up bonnet did its job - you hit something and it set off. The bonnet is designed to pop up very fast which requires a lot of force, some of which may have damaged the "insides" so to speak. I can confirm that every vehicle which has a pop up bonnet has huge repair costs if it goes off. The "point" of the system is to reduce serious head injuries. When hitting a pedestrian, the bonnet is the most likely place for a head impact. If you push down on a bonnet of a car, you'll realise that its quite malleable provided you put enough force into it. The engine components are very close to the bonnet, hence if you had hit a pedestrian and they smashed their head onto it, its very likely that their head would hit one of the engine components so the pop-up bonnet increases the distance between the bonnet and the components. Many parts associated with pop-up bonnets are not conventional and only authorised repairers can actually carry this work out, possibly resulting in the long time frame. The pop-up bonnet is also only supposed to be activated once in its lifetime at which point its deemed unsafe and therefore the whole mechanism needs replacing. I would suggest paying through insurance rather than through your own pocket - thats what its there for You hit a deer and hence, the pop up hood may seem irrelevant. Imagine if it was a 10 year old boy and the mechanism failed to deploy resulting in serious head injuries? My beef is not with the safety feature, but around the technology employed getting the car up and running following this sequence of events. There was no way of resetting the safety feature, ordering parts in and delaying repair until the dealership was ready to do so. Therefore I'm without my car for a month and had to borrow something pretty horrible from the bodyshop until mine was ready. Then, the dealer had to store my car for a couple of weeks before he could proceed with the work as the parts take too long to get in. From everyone's perspective, the current situation of not having the parts to hand and not being able to have a "make do" plan harms the dealer and the customer. Thankfully not as much harm will be done to the pedestrian. Firstly, did you use an insurance bodyshop or Lexus dealer bodyshop? If you went through Lexus you should really have got a Lexus courtesy car

Lexus Rx450H Test Drive
rayaans replied to F.A.'s topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Its a good feature - closing with the fob has been around since 2004, possibly earlier as my 2004 RX300 allowed the tailgate to be closed with the fob too! Anyways - be sure to get us a review on the car and some pics (theyre mandatory) :P The car arrived on Wednesday and so far we haven't really driven it much, just 20 miles because we were waiting to install the Lexus Dog Guard and modify the Lexus boot liner to fit this weekend. We will start using the car from tomorrow so I will have a full review by next weekend. I am also hoping to get some good weather so that I can give it a good clean and put a couple of layers of wax on it. Anyway, from the limited running so far, we are very happy with the car and so is our Great Dane :). I love how smooth everything is and the Mark Levinson system is brilliant ( although this can not be turned up with the dog in the car!). Visibility is good and there is a nice turn of speed when it is required. I am a big fan of the Head Up Display. I initially thought that it was not level so checked it against a spirit level and it was perfectly horizontal. I then realised it was because the dash curved away towards the edge of the windscreen. I am a bit annoyed that the bluetooth phone system does not recognise numbers with the +44 prefix, same problem on our IS250 and easily resolved by removing this prefix on our phones, but annoying nonetheless. I also have not been able to get the Lexus Connective Service feature working as we are both with EE and I cannot find all of the settings on the internet. I refuse to believe that we are the only people with a Lexus using phones on the EE network! Glad you are enjoying the car - it gets better over time, unlike the german brands! I cant help with the bluetooth phone system im afraid, I dont use it - just use the speaker on my phone as my battery goes really quickly when using bluetooth lol -
New To Lexus. My Is300H
rayaans replied to GazJSmithy's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club

My Rc-F Impressions ..:
rayaans replied to Stuno1's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Definitely. The GS-F will certainly suit my needs (and more). I carry a lot of boxes around and large suitcases which would be a pain to fit in the GS-F. Now an RX-F is all they need! -
Tyres On Rx400H
rayaans replied to Mr Pants!'s topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Michelin Latitude Tour HP's - you will not regret it. Great grip, superbly quiet and rated very well for efficiency and wet grip. I think they're perfect for your needs. They are also standard fit RX tyres in the states with a long tread life. They are also M+S marked so slightly better than summer tyres in those conditions - again, no need to actually swap them over in the winter. Gone with these, quite hard to come by, managed to get 4 through Camskill website, £475 inc Vat and postage... They get rave reviews online, thanks for the feedback, great help! Good price there fella. Im in the process of changing out my factory fit Dunlop SP Sport 270 to the Michelin Latitude Tour HP this week. I think I paid £122 each due to the slightly larger size. Be sure to post your findings when you have them fitted! -
My Rc-F Impressions ..:
rayaans replied to Stuno1's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
It's just a shame nobody fits in the back! It doesn't seem logical but I'm more excited about the RX being shown on 1st April than the RC-F -

Beeping And Other Points.
rayaans replied to bluenose1940's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Speed camera beeps are the noises you hear As regards to the "best" mpg, you have to update it manually to show the 51mpg Also I think there's a setting in the nav which allows you to change voice over volume. On the highest setting, the woman is practically shouting so you should be able to hear it -
Sat nav updates are not included with services. They'll be wanting a hefty amount for an update - up to £300 I think
