  1. I wouldnt say EV's are the future though. I think Hydrogen is the future, just needs to come down to a proper price
  2. Available with certain options, yes but they weren't standard. They're were standard on the A8 in 2014 and on the A7 on the recent face lift. They might be, but why would you choose one over the other? Lol. It's pretty much on brand name isn't it?
  3. So they have finally caught up with Audi then? Only been a few months or so since Audi made them standard on some models. Hardly a long time, especially since this RX has been in development since 2009. As for the grill, I'd rather have a Japanese kitchen implement designer do their magic on it that a German boiler casing designer 😊
  4. 1 - AVS does make a difference having driven both. Its not hugely noticeable but it does soften the ride up in normal mode but actually stiffens it up further in sport mode 2 - All the ones ive been to see have 10-20k miles on them and seats were fine. They are slightly wrinkled on the bolster closest to the door and thats because people tend to sit on those bolsters first and then shuffle across. I cant say they are worse than any other car though, in fact they wear quite well compared to real leather 3 - Navigation does nothing over the air apart from traffic predictions. Updates to the infotainment software can be done via USB stick but the maps need to be updated by dealers. If I were you i'd get 3 updates agreed when buying as they charge a good £150 for each update 4 - As mentioned before, updates are coming out and can be done by USB so it will improve. Most have found a stable version and are happy with it overall although there are some bits which play up. 5 - Dealers will NOT look for any cars which are not in their respective groups. They will however, try and find one from Lexus HQ if they can. You will struggle to find one with those options in all honesty. Mark Levinson is only available on perhaps 10% of the used F-Sport market. Add AVS and you're looking at possibly 1%. Ultimately, itll come down to what you prefer most. Of course, if you're buying new you could get all of those options. Something to sweeten the price on a new one. DRIVETHEDEAL.COM will do the exact spec you require for £32,671.47. This is a £6k saving over new but includes a £1.5k discount if taking PCP. If you decide you want a new one, take the finance out and then pay the full price after 14 days. You'll have to pay 3 months of interest but thats nothing compared to the £1500 discount.
  5. There is a complicated process to do it apparently. Something along the lines of put car in reverse, drop the mirrors manually using the buttons and then put back to drive. I got my dealer to do it so dont know exactly
  6. Whoa that is bad :( When I had a CT for a loaner I gave it to my wife to drive around as she only does school runs so less likelihood of it being damaged compared to if I took it on my home visits.
  7. I don't know many that didn't think the series II was an improvement over the series I. The series III is too American looking for me. I think the series IV is an improvement, just that the front grille is a bit OTT. But the design didnt have anything polarising about it so it was instantly accepted, just like the German cars are accepted as soon as they land at showrooms. There were a lot of people who said the NX is awful when it first came out but its grown on people now.
  8. I've seen the car in person last year at a meeting and let me assure you, it looks insane. Pictures don't do justice to any element of the design and the cuts and creases don't show up as well. The whole car looks great in person and the proportions makes it all fit together. These proportions can't be visualised from the pictures if I remember correctly it also had turn signals which slide across from inside to outside like KITT. There are so many little details that can't be seen in the pictures too. It's typical human nature to criticise changes. It happens with every model and eventually it'll get accepted. It also appears that the younger audience tend to like these futuristic designs and the older folk keep complaining so I can definitely see sales growing, especially in the States.
  9. Probably worth just checking it out to compare to the IS300h. It'll help you appreciate how good the hybrid setup in the 300h actually is too
  10. Thanks rayaans, I knew you'd have checked them out!. Knowing how the journo's don't like anything non German I'd noted their comments but taken with a pinch of salt, but you seem to confirm it. It is the additional power that grabs me, and that there are even fewer on the road than Lexi. You make a good point about the 450h, I have driven one of them and yikes it's fast, but also too big really. if the Q50 is the same size and mpg is that bad I'll pass. Nearest dealer is 50 miles away as opposed to 3 for the Lexus, but price wise they seem keen. That said I find the configurators impossibly infuriating and think I'll take a wander down to Maidstone and see what I think in the flesh. Nice to have something other than a Lexus to research though. I like checking a wide range of cars out haha. I think its almost a hobby although I havent driven a Tesla yet but I do have a friend in the industry who said that the range is really poor. He also said the IS300h gets poor fuel economy however but he drives like a total knob (nothing new here then) and he just happens to own a BMW ha! The car itself isn't half bad. Its just some very important things which annoyed me, the main one being the steering. I couldnt get used to it in my day of driving and it took some effort to stay in a straight line which I found very annoying on the motorway. I dont know if anyone else who has driven it has experienced this but although it was fine on the motorway, at low speeds the throttle mapping was way to sensitive. Imagine an IS300h with a Sport S+++++ and you'll kind of get what I mean. It seemed to shuffle along rather than being completely smooth and coming from an RXh the switch between the engine and electric powertrain was noticeable which again, was rather annoying for me. Another annoying aspect was the ride. It was just too harsh, down to the run flats I think. For me, the steering did it. Im assuming id get used to the ride but having loads of power and poor steering was a disaster waiting to happen. I prefer a confidence inspiring steering setup which the Q50S didn't deliver so it was off the list for me. I was originally looking at it for the wife (I drive the cars, she sits in the passenger seat and I choose the cars lol)
  11. Nope, itll be the rotary controller
  12. No rattles on my RX450h. I found that its the stuff that you put in the car rather than the car itself. (in my case anyway....)
  13. Ive had the same metal caps on for 3 years. Never has it seized on my car. Most people tend to put them on way too tight in the fear of them flying off. You only need to tighten them with fingertip force and they wont seize. Another issue is when people use different materials for dust cap and valve which seems to make them corrode. I dont know the chemistry behind this but it appears aluminium + stainless steel is not a good combination!
  14. The steering on them is awful. Takes too much effort just to go in a straight line! I wasn't convinced by the refinement in the hybrid either and if you're going from an IS300H I think you'd be wanting for better driving dynamics. Personally I'd be going for the face lifted GS450H if I wanted something that size. it's no good on fuel either. Barely gets above 22mpg
  15. Under terms and conditions on their website, price wise it says "cars registered in March 2015 Only". I don't understand, what's going on lol?
  16. Exactly right. The tesla Tesla gets nowhere near the range that its supposed to get. 200miles despite saying 300+ miles if you give it some welly. I also dont really like it - its a bit plain isn't it?
  17. What happens when Lexus bring out their Hydrogen fuel cell LS then? Will Tesla go bust? lol
  18. I also love the looks of it - very aggressive and certainly distinctive. You wouldnt mistake it for another Audi, BMW etc The visible exhausts are only available on the RX350 so we wont be seeing them on this side of the pond. Figures havent been released on the interior space but the wheelbase has been increased by 2 inches and the whole car is longer by 5 inches. Width remains unchanged and its got slightly lower by half an inch. Just by looking at the pictures, it appears that the interior size is almost certainly increased.
  19. Exactly. I'm afraid that a lot of the yobs that drive Audi's are unfortunately going to be very attracted to this new Lexus grill. Lexus just seems to be desperate to attract any kind of attention it can get to their brand. Haha YOBS would never buy a Lexus. They seem to be going to RR Sport at the moment lmao Good point. Just got to hope they have to drive past both the Audi and Land Rover dealerships before they get to the Lexus one! The hybrid nature will put yobs off straight away because they cant rev it at a standstill ha
  20. Exactly. I'm afraid that a lot of the yobs that drive Audi's are unfortunately going to be very attracted to this new Lexus grill. 21. Lexus prefers putting narrow tyres on their cars So the rim protector doesn't work as it should. A wider tyre would sort that out as the rim protector would go over the rim instead of being parallel to it
  22. Was thinking exactly the same thing. This is the ugliest car I have ever seen. I'm guessing you haven't seen the new Q7 then?
  23. I agree the grill is hideous and spoils an otherwise great looking car Meh you'll get over it - everybody does lol - the initial reaction will be fun though. Everytime I brought a Lexus to a dinner party, its always about how great it looks - I doubt that'll change. I took an RR Sport for a test drive once. Happened to be the same day I went to a dinner party, my friends didnt even give it a second look. In fact - I was asked where my Lexus was to which I replied "im just test driving the RR Sport for the weekend". It all ended with "you're seriously not going to buy that are you?". Shows what non car folk think of RR and also what they think about Lexus
  24. I think it looks great! Very aggressive look to it!
