  1. Actually the Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell car is being released September 2015 in the UK and Germany :) Definitely going to test drive that lol! But the LS Hydrogen fuel cell car is coming in 2017 so we'll see how that is!
  2. May as well take it to the mechanical car wash as itll probably do the same amount of damage to the paint as you do with that brush! As for reaching the roof - get a step ladder or a stool and climb upon it, simple really Brushes scratch full stop. Use a soft brush on the wheels only.
  3. IronX is expensive for how much you gey. Go for carchem revolt or Bilt Hamber Korrosol. If you can live without the colour change, then Autosmart Fallout Remover is by far the cheapest and it's very effective too
  4. I use a DAS6. Best polish in my arsenal is Sonax Perfect finish It's perfect for Lexus paint using a soft pad and can even cut through audi paint with a tough pad. It's a great 1 step polish. As for wax, Soft99 Fusso is one of the best out there lasts ages, like a wax should. Don't be fooled by the more expensive ones, they just smell nicer and come in fancy packaging But won't beat Fusso for protection Ideally what you'd want to do is wash, dry, decontaminate, test polish with finishing pad and if that doesn't work as well as you want, use a denser foam, then use the finishing pad at the end, wipe down with IPA and then 2 coats of Fusso. Should be good for 6 months atleast I only polish my car once a year using sonax. Otherwise I use Autoglym SRP with a white pad as it won't remove any paint. Too much polishing isn't good!
  5. I'll have to see the Mercedes C350e option list and standard equipment but I think certain things can't be optioned on the Mercedes such as adaptive cruise control. Not too sure, will check later

  7. There are a few options. The most obvious being that they had a copy of the key which they could use to unlock the car. This is a problem when buying used as you dont really know if you have all the keys or if the previous owner was a sneaky one and got the key copied. Another method is to copy the signal of the fob. They use a device which will replicate the signal, they'll lock the car themselves so you thinks its locked and then they'll go and unlock it. However, i highly doubt they'd go through all that trouble to steal a bag of 20p coins. They may be hesitant to take the car but they would take everything else in the car including the spare tyre sometimes lol. Whatever they can sell on ebay basically In terms of how close theyd have to be, possibly about 50m away maximum
  8. A few things id like to mention: 1) What do you mean by highly customizable? The C350e is only available in Sport trim so actually is not customizable at all. Buyers who are interested in the IS300h F-Sport wont be looking at the Sport Merc C-class as it doesnt hold a candle to the IS F-Sport looks. Its not available in AMG-Line spec and looks pretty "average" in sport spec 2) 7-speed gearbox - its not exactly very smooth. It wont match the IS300h for smoothness. 3) Combined figures of 134.5mpg - id be surprised if it managed to get 50mpg in the real world. 4) Ive driven the C200 AMG Line and the engine isnt exactly very refined. Its too loud and represents a diesel which is a bit odd in all honesty because it could have been much better. I cant imagine how noticeable that engine would be when it kicks in. 5) HOLY PRICE! £38k? Wait till you add options, itd be on £45k with ease. Now the real question is if you want to spend £45k on a car which looks like the basic version to pretty much everyone else out there. 6) I think my dealer mentioned a vibrating accelerator pedal which gets harder to press when the car switches from electric to engine mode. I dont know if he's pulling my leg but isnt that a bit annoying? 1) Things like Headsup display, panoramic sunroof, motorised boot, 360 camera etc. 2) I agree, CVT will probably be smoother. 3) I am primarily interested in the battery only operation of the vehicle. it would be interesting to see how cheaper charging is in comparison to fuel though. 4) I don't think Mercedes will ever have an engine as refined as Lexus do. They'll need to do a heck of a job at insulating the cabin instead. 5) The technology actually interests me more than the car itself which will find its way to the rest of the lineup eventually. I would prefer a similar version of the CLS. 6) Feedback from the peddal; i think it's actually better than looking down to see how 'green' you are driving. Intrusive to some I agree. The fact that it doesn't come in the AMG trim would be a deal-breaker but I hope it will change with other models. The S500 Plugin hybrid for instance comes in AMG Trim as well. The initial cost itself is insane! I just built one to the spec Id want even though Id never buy it as its not in AMG Line trim. The Sport to my spec in diamond white, black artico leather, HUD, 18" wheels and privacy glass is £43k. That includes the £5k grant :o Id rather take the IS200t when its out and screw the economy lol

  10. Yep the noise reduction was huge! I am very impressed by these tyres so far. Something else I have noticed is that Ive ended up stopping much earlier than usual. These tyres are so smooth that it feels like they're just going to keep sliding but actually they have very good grip and slow down very quickly. I did a lot of research into them. They are standard fit in the USA and they prefer a softer ride, need them to be capable in snow and prefer quieter tyres as their roads are pretty bad. So far, the Michelin's have not disappointed!
  11. So after having 4 new Michelin Latitude Tour HP's fitted and having driven the car over 100 miles, I feel I can safely share my thoughts on them. My car originally had the Dunlop SP Sport 270 tyres on them from the factory so I am directly comparing to those. Firstly, the ride. From what I can tell so far, the Michelin's ride slightly softer than the Dunlops and soak the bumps slightly better. Its not hugely noticeable but atleast its an improvement. Then there's the cabin noise! These tyres are rated at 69dB with the previous Dunlops rated at 71dB. It was the main reason I bought these tyres as the Dunlops could be heard rumbling away, albeit a very quiet rumble. With the new Michelin's there is no noise from the tyres at all making the already quiet RX450h almost eerily quiet. Its very noticeable so if you want a quiet tyre, these are the ones to get. Handling remains unchanged. Slightly better due to more grip but thats because they have more tread on them. The Michelin's do seem to have a wider tread though, even though they are OEM 235/55 r19 fitment and slightly stick out compared to the rim. I dont mind that - itll probably save me from the dreaded kerbs! Finally, the price. These tyres were relatively cheap at £123 each from Oponeo and fitting was a mere £50 for all 4. That makes it £136.50 a tyre - a good £60+ saving on each tyre compared to if the original Dunlops were purchased at Lexus. I cannot say how they will wear as its too early and I havent had a chance to test them in the wet yet so stay tuned......
  12. Fair enough. How did you get all the black stuff off the rim. Is it just a simple clean with wheel cleaner. It seems like its pretty hard to get off. I cant see any scratches either so Im pretty happy too. Ill have to check the valves and see if theyre the same ones as I had previously but newer or if theyd just not bothered to change them
  13. £75k is too much for the GS-F. It won't be cometing against the M5/E63/RS6 as it doesn't have enough power. It should be priced at about £65k to make it appealing for that class
  14. Ok so got all 4 tyres done at Lexus Bradford. Negatives first - it took 1.5 hours to do it, don't know what the technician was playing at lol. Also it appears they didn't change the valves although I'll take a closer look in the morning. Also there's a lot of tyre lube and bead sealant all over the wheels which they didn't bother to clean - probably my fault as I told them not to wash. Positives - tyres look great and no scratches on any of the rims. Also I can't complain about the price :). Secondary positive - I don't like sonic titanium so the IS300H will be white for the wife
  15. They'll start going quicker if they stick them on their used website and autotrader etc
  16. I'm not too sure. Enquiries don't necessarily mean anything though. For example, my house has been on sale for a year, I put it under market value and I've had multiple enquiries but only 1 buyer is serious! RRG group hasn't sold a single RC-F yet!
  17. I agree the rear lights are red like on an Rc & the grille is pretty obvious, & the Nx has similar lines on the doors but they aren't overdone on the Nx, rear quarters (the bit behind the back doors) are almost identical to the murano including the pointless wavey little windows, I'm not sure if they are available in the uk but I won't be buying one, it's just a re-hash of the the old one. I honestly think the styling is a knee jerk reaction, someone put the new Nx next to an Rx & realized they had to do something about the Rx pretty sharpish & rushed this one out ... it would be nice to see some new tech like changing the nickel metal hydride batteries for Altairnano lithium-titanate ones & installing solar roofs ... but maybe they'll just make sunroofs an option on all models instead of a standard & claw a few more quid in ... I dont think Toyota/Lexus have used lithium ion in any of their vehicles. Mark Templin did say that Lithium Ion dont give enough positive return and theyre researching the next gen of batteries whatever that means
  18. Its 1C0 - Millenium Silver/Platinum Silver
  19. Should be able to detect anything really. I don't think it'll be super sophisticated that it needs a hand and a hand only. I forgot to mention, Lexus confirmed a few months ago that the doors, the bonnet and the tailgate are going to be aluminium in order to save weight. From my calculations, it appears to save about 160kg in metal weight. If they'll offset that with more dense materials somewhere else is a mystery!
  20. The 3.5l engine in the RX350 and 450h are retained, youre correct. The 350 makes 30hp more and is now rated at 300hp WITH more torque lower down and across the whole rev range. They havent mentioned whether it will switch to atkinson cycle when coasting however (they did say its been tuned to extract maximum efficiency). The RX uses the same engine on an atkinson cycle like it does in the current RX but there is no word on the hybrid setup at all which could mean that they are using the current setup or they are hiding something. Referring to the RX450h they said "when combined with the electric motor generator, the combined output results in around 300 hp". Around 300hp is very vague, it could be 295hp, exactly 300hp or even 310hp. I guess another "new" thing to mention is the Michelin Tyres which are standard fit. As the tyre wears, the rain grooves widen to counteract depth in order to retain wet grip.
  21. Worn pretty well IMO. I think the triangle shaped dots are the seat heaters or possibly ventilators
  22. The mitts are very good. It took me an hour to do the RX with a clay bar. It took half to do it with a mitt.
  23. I think it's perfectly identifiable. The red part of the rear lights are modifications of the RC and the actual shape of the headlights look similiar to the GS. The grill is pretty obvious and the high shoulder line is on all Lexus vehicles. The cuts at the bottom of the doors are similiar to the NX too. I can't see how the rear looks anything like the murano. It might have a floating roof but it hardly looks similiar. Besides, murano isn't available in UK is it? the 3.5l engine on the hybrid is new with more torque lower down and across the whole rev range. No mention of a 4th gen hybrid system but they hardly mentioned any details. It's also coming with a hand wave tailgate opening system and rear seats are heated now. Rear seat folding is also powered on certain model and F-Sport gets AVS and an active stabiliser as standard. 360 degree panoramic view is new on the RX and the safety system + too which includes pedestrian detection, ACC, automatic high beams and unintended lane change notification. A full opening panoramic sunroof is also available now. There'll probably be more but they kept it very short in New York
  24. Get Benfield to put a date on when the parts will be available. Say you can't be without your car for an unknown amount of time. Another option is ring Lexus Bradford and see if they can give you a date and courtesy car, it's not too far from you
