  1. You can just keep them in the boot. Figured out why the Lexus sat nav turns off camera warnings in France - because its illegal lol
  2. Except you'll be pretty shocked on the pricing front. The new Q7 with a bog standard 3.0 TDI in S-Line guise (the only one actually worth buying if you dont want to take a huge hit on depreciation) hits £65-68k specified to the level of the 2016 RX450h F-Sport which is estimated to be around that price too. Put hybrid into the equation in an Audi and you have a car which will easily be £85k if not more! Also - its rather ugly isn't it?
  3. Air pollution my arse lol, surely a car going at 60mph is going to take longer to get from A to B than a car going at 70mph. I bet there isn't much difference at all.
  4. As above! Next time you go on a long trip, spray wd40 on the front before setting off. It stops the bugs sticking and you'll just need a microfiber to clean it up
  5. Itll happen on most cars. If you wash the car a thin layer of rust will form on the brakes. When combined with a lot of water and sub zero temperatures, it tends to freeze pretty badly. Only happened once mind and that was because I left it for 3 weeks after washing with the parking brake on. It wont happen if the parking brake isnt on
  6. Probably my driving style then :/ I did drive it like I stole it. I loved the car, goes as well as you'd want in day to day driving and stops pretty good too
  7. No brake creaking on the 64 plate loaner I had. No sounds at all actually apart from the whine when coming to a stop and slight whine when moving along in EV
  8. To my knowledge, no plans for the IS-F yet - but have been told that its not completely off the cards. The only problem Lexus have now is, if they bring out the IS-F, the RC-F is going to get a pretty bad hit and tbh I think itll be obsolete. The GS-F will have to be very competitive on price. As far as Im concerned, its probably not worth paying anymore than £65k for a basic GS-F as I cant see it offering much more than the RC-F apart from 2 extra doors, an extra seat and a larger boot. Putting a price hike of £10k + would be very silly.
  9. The interface is a good 3 years old now. You can't use Google maps. Probably not what you want to hear after buying a new one but the 4th Gen RX is coming out end of this year so that'll have all the updates to the interface with connected services and the lot. Still no Google maps but a much better looking map though
  10. It causes extra stress on the engine components. There used to be cooling issues back in the 80's and you had to cool the car down for 2 minutes before turning it off. I think this is states in the NX200t owners manual too, but dont know how relevant this actually is in modern engines. There was a lawsuit against BMW for the N54 engine back in the states. They had to put the car under warranty for 10 years/120k miles as it had pump issues. No manufacturer worth their salt would produce an engine that over stressed components nowadays. Things have moved on considerably since the 80's, particularly on the design and manufacturing tolerances side. Look at all the Mitsubishi Evo's (FQ300's and FQ400's as an example) and Subaru WRX's out there that have done many thousands of miles with no hitches. This engine looks quite interesting to me, and i'm curious why they have gone for an air to water intercooler as that introduces quite a lot of weight, but maybe in a less sporty car like the IS weight is not the biggest consideration. I'll be interested to test drive it when it is launched. No matter what the manufacturers say, it always causes more stress on the components than an NA engine. Apparently the weight of the engine is only 167kg. No idea if that's good or not lol but it's lower than the 250
  11. Honda you can truant, Renault and Ford not so much. I can see IS200T selling very well in America as it has a good balance of power and cost. With enough torque as the IS350, it'll feel pretty spritely

  13. The Lexus drivetrains are designed to outlast the likes of BMW, Mercedes etc. Hell, Mercedes just got 181hp out of a 2.0l in the C200 lol. We all know 340hp from a 2.0 turbo is possible but itll start having problems near 100k guaranteed. My Merc C220 is already having things going wrong, its only 150hp and 74k miles. I applaud Lexus for doing that but unfortunately 99% of new car buyers will never see 100k miles and just buy on performance spec. Only USA where high miles are the norm Lexus outsell BMW. They'll realise when it goes POP lol. Lexus main market is USA anyway and hence they need a car which works well over there more so than it does here We all know 340hp from a 2.0 turbo is possible but itll start having problems near 100k guaranteed. Why's that then? It causes extra stress on the engine components. There used to be cooling issues back in the 80's and you had to cool the car down for 2 minutes before turning it off. 14. Id buy it - but it'd probably have to be an ex-demo or something. No way am I taking a £15k hit in the first 6 months lol
  15. Hybrid brakes are slightly different. They'll essentially use regenerative braking which stops the car when braking lightly. Under heavy braking it switches to the actual brakes. Its slightly tricky at first to judge it but you get used to it in the end. No idea on the suspension - the loaner I had did not make any unusual noises including rattles or suspension noises. Again, don't use the 12V power cord apart from pumping up the tyres with a compressor.
  16. Lexus dont try to squeeze out every drop of power though. Im sure they could get 300 hp out of the turbo but it wouldnt be as reliable. Id like to see how this Alfa lasts as well, i'd imagine its more than £54k, close to £65k

  18. Latitude Tour HP. Absolutely faultless so far, nice soft ride, grips well too and eerily quiet. Nothing comes close to them in terms of low noise levels. Only bad thing I guess would be that it has loads and loads of sipes which stones of various sizes get stuck into if you've been on a gravel road or driveway.
  19. GS will be getting the 200t soon too
  20. Im not too keen on Adblue though - my brother in law has a Q7 with it. Literally eats the stuff. I think the RXh screams loud enough - when the windows are down anyway. I guess you could always cross-shop but then you could easily say the M4 loaded to £70k is a much better car than the Macan so it'll always get trumped by something unless its a Ferrari the Ferrari I think we've forgotten that Lexus likes to do things differently, and the RX has always been more of a Luxury SUV with a focus on ride comfort and serenity, with a level of calm to it that no other manufacturer can come close to - (probably the way the hybrid system encourages you to drive). The F-Sport has always been a decent handler, its pretty fun in the corners but its no Macan - but then it wasn't exactly designed to be was it? I realise that the CVT annoys some people, but I actually really like it. Its smooth and not jerky, you dont feel any shifts which I like and the car never really drones unless you're doing 0-60 times so I dont find it a problem at all. Now now Mark, if we paid attention to the journalists, you'd be in an M4 and I'd be in an X5 lol
  21. Im also on all seasons (rated in the states anyway but not here oddly enough). Mine are Michelins :)
  22. Im guessing its replacing the IS250 so I'd expect the price increase to be marginal - perhaps around £1k on all trim levels. Should be a great vehicle - that torque and horsepower figure is great and the lighter engine should help handling compared to the IS250. Itll reduce understeer to an extent. I dont find 167g/km of CO2 bad at all for an F-Sport? Its not a hybrid at the end of the day and 0-60 in 7s seems a bit conservative, especially since the NX weighs more with a slower transmission. Id expect it to do around 6.5s in reality. I mean the 328I makes pretty much exactly the same sort of power, yet its 1.1s faster than a 200t due to a 150kg weight difference? I doubt it lol.
  23. Nice to know you're getting on with the IS. 1) service is usually at 10k miles if you're a private buyer or 12k miles if you're a business buyer or every year whichever comes first. The car will tell you that you need a service but it's best to know the date beforehand just in case the service guys forget to put it in. 2) in terms of software, there are a few niggles but it's worth checking out if you're on the latest version as even new cars seem to be on a versions that are 4-5 behind. Dealer will do this for free. I've been told Lexus is developing a new software which will come out in the next 6 months or so. 3) Parts Department and dealer are both correct. Mesa red is the name of the paint in the UK. But it's a Mica paint, which is a type of paint that looks solid in shade and starts popping in the sun. 4) All Japanese cars have relatively soft paint compared to German brands. On the upside however, any swirls are much much easier to rectify on soft paint. Use a German applicator with a pure polish by hand or if confident, use a machine. Many guides on this on the Web. It's worth getting a coating on the car. Something like Kamikaze Artificial Clear Coat which basically adds another layer of clearcoat on your paint making it much more durable. Seal the paimt on top of this with a Ceramic coating and it'll be pretty tough 5) The locks can be changed in settings. If you set them to "unlock when in park" you can just switch to park and all locks will open. There are multiple setting, just choose the one you prefer 6) patch is from the AC, nothing to worry about. 7) the indicators are a bit weird but it appears you get used to them. When I had the IS300H as a loaner, I found it quite difficult as I have conventional stalks in my RX, but after about an hour I was pretty confident with it
  24. Don't know what you've been reading but the new RX is coming with AVS, an active stabiliser on F sport models and a heavily stiffened chassis. Use of aluminium is going to make it lighter too.Maybe you don't want a diesel? And it's safe to say the Porsche Cayenne is one ugly car, only superceded by the Citroen Cactus in terms of ugliness Not sure what you've been reading either; I said I hoped the AVS would be up to the job, and I was talking about the Macan, not the Cayenne. Having driven that particular diesel and experienced the torque on-tap, you might well want one...A Macan doesn't compete with the RX. The RX is about a foot longer with more interior space. It competes with the Cayenne. The Macan is NX size.No way would I own a diesel again. They get rid of the DPF issues, add a decent Petrol like grumble and a red line at 7k then maybe, just maybe Besides, if you go to order one now you won't get it till sometime in the distant future I just configured a standard petrol Macan with all the options that the RX Premier has and it's £58k. The Macan S will probably be the same price as an RX Premier but it competes with the NX on size
