  1. Again, you dont seem to understand that Lexus aren't after outright sales anyway and one of the core aspects of Lexus as a brand is exclusivity. Its almost like saying Ford is selling Lexus 10 to 1. Tesla are becoming close to BMW/Merc/Audi - mass market appliances and I see more Model 3s than BMW 3 series nowadays. Now thats saying something. From a sales perspective thats all well and good but sales doesnt necessarily mean its a premium product.
  2. No I mean the base IS F Sport comes with Tahara and fabric trim
  3. It's definitely £63k
  4. Linas you need to get your facts correct. You're spewing out figures from mid air. A Tesla model 3 performance costs £60k and an I4 M50 is £63k The difference between a 3.1s car to 60mph and a 3.9s car to 62mph is very small in the real world. Like I said nobody buys a car based on numbers alone. Most buyers already know what they want.
  5. Once again not true. Maybe when comparing petrol to diesel in one vehicle Most buyers already know which car they like and what they want before looking at drivetrains
  6. You fail to grasp the point that nobody buys a vehicle based on simple numbers. An I4 has an interior quality better than a model X which costs nearly twice the price. It's massively more refined than a model 3 and that's where the money goes. You mention Tesla Model S as a price comparison but that car costs almost £74k starting
  7. Takumi and F Sport Premium/Takumi packs have the same leather as you've noted by the specific pack details. The base F Sport has fabric and Tahara synthetic leather. I would say that there might be a variation in leather based on suppliers but other than that, unlikely.
  8. The issue is that a lot of these buyers tend to buy them and complain about the build quality on YouTube and various forums. Yet if you slate a Tesla its supposedly the best vehicle known to man. The Tesla supercharging network is going to be open to any EV in the future which reduces Teslas main attraction. Yes Tesla may have done it first but I reckon once the Germans/Japanese start properly getting into it closer to 2030 there'll be too much competition.
  9. You can't really compare the model y to the RZ. The RZ is in a class above and the quality of Tesla in general is extremely poor especially refinement. They're riddled with issues. Fair enough if you just want tech but as a car it's nowhere near a proper contender
  10. That's not true. The brochure for the facelifted RC clearly states smooth leather on F Sport and Takumi with Tahara on base spec Lexus_RC_e-brochure.pdf
  11. Linas, what drivel are you spewing out? There is no mention of semi-aniline leather in the 2013-16 brochure. The F-Sport and the Premier had the same leather and it was certainly not semi-aniline. Additionally, even in the 2013-16 brochure, they were advertising Tahara as "Leather effect" and it says multiple times "Tahara trim" in the brochure on page 56.
  12. Except it doesnt have the same engine as the BZX and the interior looks to be a large upgrade as it is. Its also got direct 4 so can shuffle 100% of power to any independent wheel and uses steer by wire. I would say thats fairly innovative stuff. The yoke seems better thought out than Tesla whereby you have to turn it 400 degrees lock to lock. The RZ can do the same in 300 degrees so you never have to cross your hands. When you say the drivetrain isnt competitive enough, what are you comparing it to? For a start the Q4 e-tron starts at £49k with a 55 kwh battery, takes 9 seconds to get to 62mph and is quoted at 198 miles. A similiar spec vehicle to a Lexus RZ would be Vorsprung trim which is £56k I can see buying one of these and plugging it through the company to get 100% FYA which is the real benefit of an EV
  13. Sounds about right. Not really much you can do about it. Its a inherent trait and similiar to what BMW's do
  14. The semi aniline leather is usually reserved for the top end vehicles i.e. RX, LS, LC etc You'd know if this was the case as if you tried cleaning it in a small area with a wet cloth and leather cleaner you might get some dye transfer The other way to test is using water. Sprinkle water on the seat and if it sits on the surface it's likely mid grade. As far as I remember the leather across the IS was the same apart from some models which got the imitation leather. Not particularly sure whether this happened at facelift too without looking at the brochures. I know the 2013-17 f sports had real leather though
  15. I reckon it'll be around July/August or potentially October that they announce it. Theyll probably be announcing the new RX early next year if so
  16. There's no plug in coming. Drivetrains will remain the same I have a friend who works for the Lexus development programme in America. They tend to get to see the prototypes very early on. Usually about a year in advance of their actual release
  17. Yes there is a facelift coming this year. You can usually tell when Lexus start to release special editions like the "Premium Sports Edition". Its going to have a heavily revised interior with touchscreen but may keep the touch pad as well similiar to the ES
  18. I think Lepsons can do it. The problem is, its not worth the hassle or the cost and its easier just to reproduce the finish in diamond cut rather than the polished chrome
  19. Wow, you must get through a lot of food as it seems to fit a weeks shopping for 6 for us I mean its supposed to be a CT replacement so surely you'd be looking at an NX for a bigger boot anyway
  20. Its all a bit of a marketing gimmick in reality though. There's no reason why you can't use a proper compound on the paint. In fact, I recommend it. The paint on my car certainly looks much better than the new cars they're handing over to customers.
  21. All LC in the UK are serviced at 10k miles / 1 year whichever comes first. If you're located elsewhere, due to different fuel grades and oil grades, the recommendation may be to service more frequently
  22. The clear coat is not specialised and therefore you do to it what you do to any other modern car with clear coat.
  23. Its paint. You can use any product that you would normally apply to any car paint including clay bar. If you're using a clay bar you need to machine polish afterwards as you'll introduce swirls to the paint by doing so No point using a glaze underneath a sealant as the sealant wont be able to bond. Better off polishing and putting a lite ceramic/graphene product on i.e. gyeon can coat, Siramik Lustrous Plus
  24. The website states PERSONAL COVER Cover extends to when you're driving or a passenger in any other car.a. and so does this FAQ document on the Lexus Website https://www.roadsidecover.com/Documents/Lexus/Lexus_FAQs_0122.pdf Its clearly a new document on FAQs as its giving the option of renewal for 12 or 24 months. Previously it used to be 12 months and no other option unless you have Extended Warranty
  25. Not quite as clear cut as that. Depends on different models and most Lexus brakes are sourced from Brembo or Akebono. Mercedes use plenty of textar, brembo, TRW and ATE pads. BMW tends to go for Brembo and ATE. LPD say on their website that they only supply Genuine Lexus parts so there may be an explanation or error - did you contact them before fitting them to see what they said? I find it quite interesting that you went ahead and fitted them despite not receiving what was advertised? Id be on the phone atleast for a refund. As for the noise, new brakes need time to bed in properly. Give it atleast 100 miles.
