  1. Option 1. The others would be more expensive and totally unnecessary. The best place to go is the Lexus dealer. They'll give it to someone to refurb the wheels and because they've done so many now, they have a paint code to get a similiar colour to factory. What some people do is get both on one side done. I did and I cant tell any difference. Another option is get all 4 done and ask for the paint code used to do it - that way, if you damage 1 then you can just get that done on its own in the future
  2. Yes, been in both. NX200t is great. Nothing wrong with the engine and transmission but its not exactly sporty (which is why the journalists dont like it). The transmission is somewhat reluctant to kick down and it does so at the last minute but it sure goes. Fuel economy isn't too bad either, it gets 30mpg almost regularly. Id assume itd get more on the motorway too and for the performance gain, its not that much of a loss in fuel economy. Its more nimble than the 300h too, feels livelier but Id assume depreciation is greater on them
  3. Agree with nearly everything you've said. I don't like the touch pad compared to the joystick found in the IS/RX and the NX is very sluggish. The fact that they chose the ES setup instead of the IS setup with extra power is beyond me. The fit and finish was exemplary, no problems, but then Id expect that anyway so wasn't surprised. My main issue is with motorway driving, I find it takes too long to overtake other cars and its a pain on hills (basically all of Yorkshire). Also, yes, 30mpg is awful. I haven't dipped below 30mpg in my RX and its got a V6 with 100hp more and much more weight! I think Lexus were targeting company car buyers with the NX300h with no regard for anyone else. They just wanted figures to look good compared to the competition. BUT the most frustrating thing about the NX - the trim is all over the place! Only now can you get ML on an F-Sport! It doesn't even come with memory seats! Not to mention, the dealers are trying their best to manipulate prices which my dealer said wasn't working as well as they'd hoped. I'd spend the extra £10k on a 2016 RX every time - its a much more polished product (but then it has to be with its heritage hasn't it)
  4. Japanese fuels may be higher RON but that doesn't mean anything. Historically Hondas have always benefitted from higher octane. However, Lexus main market is predominantly the US and they have crap fuel and don't have any issues
  5. The local mechanic charges the same prices anyway though. I've got £280 quotes for my RX if taking it to a half decent place for a service. Most mechanics make a chunk of profit regardless and I bet i'd get a car back thats got dirt all over it which would cost me 2 hours for a wash. Its cheaper to go to a Lexus dealer when you think of it like that.
  6. The 3 year packages are always cheaper than the standalone price, I paid £990 for my RX which works out cheaper by £200 odd as I paid for the first service myself, therefore need 2 majors and a minor. Mine also has other things included so free full valet every year, 10% off parts, free car for special occasions every year etc etc. I also got one free MOT. The cost of servicing IMO isn't that bad - people get quoted one figure and they don't haggle the price down. The first service I was told £245. I walked out the door and paid £200. Even Kwik Fit charge that mutch on an RX with a managers discount!! If you look at BMW servicing for example, its £475 for 5 years but they'll charge you an arm and a leg for everything else. And if you look closely, the BMW has 2 year service intervals/25k miles or so, so you only get 2 services for £237.50 each. I can't really see 2 year/25k miles-ish (mileage varies on how car is driven) being good for the engine in all honesty. I would have thought BMW makes tonnes of profit just due to the sheer number of 3 series around in servicing anyway. Lexus can't play that trick as cars are few and far between so they have to charge a greater premium. After 5 years you can get Lexus Essential Care servicing which is cheaper anyway. Im pretty sure the Lexus services include things like regreasing the door hinges, tightening the chassis bolts etc etc
  7. Sounds like glazed over brakes i.e. if the brakes have been wet and they get that rust layer on it. The regen ensures that the mechanical brakes dont get used much so if theyve got a rust layer on, it wont be fully removed causing that sound. Do some hard braking to remove that layer of rust and it should get better. If not, let us know and we'll see if its something else
  8. There are a few issues in this thread and a lot of misconceptions. Firstly, different cars will act different using different fuels. An IS250 is designed to run on 95 RON fuel and using 99 RON wont make that much difference in all honesty. Also, to make a difference, you'll need to run the fuel for a minimum of 5k miles. Now here is where 99 RON does make a difference - carbon build up. The additived will clean the injectors out, especially on the direct injection WITHOUT port injection IS250. In that case, you will notice a performance difference after 3-5k miles as the engine will run better. On cars without direct injection, they arent really worth the extra cost. Besides, Id be going to places like BP and Shell to get petrol instead of Tesco. Its almost like me prescribing you antibiotics for a viral infection - youd think the antibiotics did their job when your cold goes away naturally - placebo. Its also worth realising that the majority of users go for standard unleaded which has a much faster usage rate. The fuel in the super unleaded tank is almost always "stale" as it doesnt get used by many people. A simple trick to try it out is to fill 2 jerry cans. 1 with standard and 1 with super unleaded. Stick it in a ride on lawnmower and you'll realise how much condensation is in them just by the smoke that comes out.
  9. I think my description may be a bit misleading. Yes, it opens without pinging open. But then open it further and let it go, and you get the spring board affect. Even the dear old Jazz was better than that with its damping. David. Mine opens slightly, if it stays below an angle of 60 degrees when opening it manually, it still doesnt open. After that 60 degrees itll open by itself but no spring board effect here. It just opens and stays there without moving backwards or forwards.
  10. Its on a "first come" basis. So, if you hit 10k/12k miles before the date, you get the car serviced. If you hit the date before you hit the 10k/12k miles, you get the car serviced. You're not exactly wasting money as they will still do the same things at 6k that they would have done at 10k Also, things like brake fluid degrade over time so that'll be changed out every 2 years. I guess its somewhat better to get the car serviced every year if you're doing low miles anyway as you have more potential problems.
  11. Same, it only opens slightly. However, the Merc boot flew open. Perhaps its a MY16 change?
  12. that vids been out since last year when the RC was released in the states
  13. The NX F-Sport with AVS has the dampers too but not many cars are available with that option to test drive. I think the RX Premier doesn't have the lateral dampers either. However, having said that, the current RX F-Sport has less suspension noise than the NX F-Sport which is odd.
  14. Original post has been updated. Interior section has been added. Any suggestions or mistakes, let me know and Ill get them corrected
  15. Same here! I doubt any tyre would be good on compacted ice though unless it had spikes coming out of it.
  16. As a rough guide, japanese cars have their fuel cap on the left whereas german cars have their fuel cap on the right. The reason for this is because Japanese cars are RHD originally so itd be difficult to open the door if it was on the right. German cars are originally LHD so its easier for them to open the door when its on the right side as they exit from the left. Hence why its such a pain when pulling into tight petrol stations in a german car
  17. Some of the MY16 cars dont have it for some reason - odd
  18. Got to say - something Ive noticed today is that the build quality of the IS is exemplary - no rattles, no squeaking etc. Granted its only done 11k miles but its over 2 years old and nothing! My RX on the contrary has acquired a very annoying rattle coming from the rear seat/wheel arch and one in the passenger side B pillar at 33k miles
  19. So why do they use metal plates then? The acrylic ones would suffice and you won't get that rattle
  20. There is no body difference. Who said that?! Unless they mean the shark fin antenna on the roof?
  21. Lol don't stand out - I'm sure you haven't seen the new Lexus range then
  22. Id assume its initialised at 36psi though so having 37psi is not going to make any difference really to when the light comes on or not. 36psi is recommended so surely the tpms should be left at 36psi? That way you know when you're below it. If I changed it to 37psi the light would come on at 33psi so that'll be more of a hassle as I don't think 33psi is actually that low for the car.
  23. That is odd - id say Colin is probably right then about the Premier wheel and shock combination isn't suited to UK roads. The lateral dampers on the F-Sport are supposed to reduce vibrations and i'd say they're probably doing a good job at it then.
  24. Hmm they may have tweaked the suspension slightly. Something new with the NX is the availability of Mark Levinson on F-Sport models too so perhaps its a tweak. Has the F-Sport got a Sport + mode indicating AVS?
  25. What reg were these cars? We all know that Lexus has a knack of changing things without telling anyone. Id assume the lateral dampers are doing their job in absorbing the vibrations from the road and hence feeling more composed. Actually, come to think of it, one the RX forum, a bloke changed his RX Luxury for an RX F-Sport and also said that the ride was more composed with less vibrations. With regard to the IS, I felt the Premier was the weakest model in the range. It didn't handle as well as the F-Sport but I couldn't feel any major difference in ride quality between F-Sport and Premier.
