  1. Im really tempted but I think Im going for the new RX. If they made an NX-F though, Id take that - I carry a lot of bulky items which just wouldnt fit in a saloon.
  2. Dont get me wrong, im not saying the RC-F is awful or anything - its very good - but I feel it could still be a lot better than it is at the moment. I think the engineers definitely learnt from the RC-F and made the GS-F better as a result. The gearbox feels different, its much more eager and shifts almost instantly. Now we just have to wait for an RC-F mid-cycle refresh to see if they address some of the issues.
  3. Yeah they are the bees knees - awesome tyres. Id get them for every car I own if they were made in the right sizes. They properly work as well! All season's on my RX have been great so far. Very heavy rain has had no impact compared to normal tyres, very good in the dry as well. Will find out in the snow I guess but Ive never had winter tyres as I dont need/use them.
  4. thats interesting i went to the dealership today and they told me you wouldn't get much change from £80k for the GS-F, will see next month when they arrive at the dealerships. Ill be honest, your dealer needs sacking if he doesnt know the price of the GS-F yet - its been out for almost 2 weeks! Its £69995 only options being paint, ML, sunroof and orange calipers. However, I would like to point out that he needs sacking for his obscure psychological tactics and not for not knowing the price - common crap amongst Audi and BMW dealers is to tell you an over inflated price before launch to make the customer feel that the price is better than expected and therefore a good deal. What a good salesman would do is A - either find out the price or say B - itll be released at launch.
  5. Never had any sensor problems = only things that set it off is seriously heavy fog last week and snow.
  6. I think you may have just lost any credibility you had there. Comparing a £350k engineering tour de force with a £65k GT car just demonstrates a complete lack of understanding. Not really. Lets compare it to something like the new C63 AMG coupe then which is INSANE. Arguably has a better interior and is a lot faster and lighter. So why is it that Lexus charges £60k for the RC-F? Maybe if the car cost £55k then it'd have something going for it but its lacking behind rivals at the price point that its been put at. The C63 AMG is lighter, faster, STILL has a V8 albeit turbocharged but it still has relatively linear power delivery. Its hard to see why Lexus made the RC-F how it is. They could have done much more at the price point, especially when competitors can. And when you consider the GS-F is pretty close to perfection at the price point its at, its hard to ignore that the RC-F isn't up there, even with the GS-F when driven back to back.
  7. I don't really think Im going to buy a new car again - become way too sensible now. My RX has lost more than £25k in just over 3 years! On the other hand, I bought my wife's car for £24k at 2 years old and 10k miles. This was 2 months ago. Someone paid £37k for that back in the day, if I recall correctly the list price was higher back then by about £1k
  8. I drove the RC-F for a day and it just wasnt up there with the best - The GS-F is styled better and I would say yes, its a half arsed attempt at making a car. They could have been smart and used the IS chassis or gone for a new aluminium platform but no, they just stuck existing ones together. The LFA was a completely different car, that was honed to perfection, something the RC-F lacks. The GS-F is an improvement and at the price point its at, its a good proposition. I dont think the RC-F is all that its made up to be on here and I can't see how its better than an RS5 in daily driving either.
  9. Id say its dependent on colour. Red ones would be £24-25k just so they can shift them as they have a hard time doing so. So yes the dealer would typically give you £5k less
  10. Entirely agree. It would have been interesting if the IS chassis was used. The RC has a frankenstein chassis for no apparent reason. I always tell myself its because they wanted to make it as a convertible and then changed their minds halfway through and left the chassis like it was. But hey ho, the GS-F is very very good!
  11. Aniline is the stuff you find on classic cars with no coating on it. Itll just putll the colour straight off. I think the IS uses coated leather but the perforations are uncoated so colour will come from inside the perforations onto the cloth - not a huge problem though. They used to use aniline leather on very expensive sofa sets which were like £5-10k and the colour would come off if you dropped water on it!
  12. I drove the RC-F and GS-F back to back in Madrid last month. Got to say, the GS-F, although it has the same engine is miles apart - it handles better than the RC-F, something I didn't expect at all! No issues with weight either - its much more fluid and has a better ride. Im struggling to see the appeal of the RC-F now as the GS-F comes fully loaded for £70k and an equivalent RC-F would cost £65k That difference in price is really minimal at that price point but wow they have done a great job on the GS-F! Almost feels like they made a half arsed attempt on the RC-F after driving it.
  13. Mine is doing the same thing over bumps. Cant even find where its coming from either
  14. Hmm well I guess the discount thing may be an issue right now simply because there are no cars in the UK right now. Id imagine itd get more competitive once they realise that not many people are actually buying them. Im in no position to buy another car ATM. Im waiting till November next year and Ill grab an ex demo I think. They drop like a rock in the first 3 years. Ive lost £25k or something lol. On a side note, Autoebid have updated their site and its still showing £7k off so maybe worth putting an order through them?
  15. Id say its worth waiting for the 2016 model. Or, if not, wait until the 2016 model lands and the current RX takes a slight drop in price and then buy it.
  16. I've got to say the Car magazine report on the RX was pretty **** in all honesty. Why do they expect it to "thrill"
  17. Well you did say the other day you know more than a Lexus salesman, and that isn't difficult. ;) From the official Lexus press pack: Fair enough, I guess my dealer doesn't know yet oops I don't think any Lexus ECU has been cracked yet has it?
  18. I was told the F Sport doesn't have it unlike on IS250 models but not sure as I haven't driven an F Sport 200T. Anyone driven one yet? It's a good car but the IS300H is hardly slow and the price difference is only £1k so you'd really have to hate the 300h to get one. I'd assume depreciation will be higher in the 200t? It's much closer together than it was for the NX. I wish theyd programmed the 8 speed like they did in the IS350 or ISF. However, I think they were trying to make the numbers lower than the IS350 otherwise no one would get one in other markets
  19. Yes I found that with the ASC too. It was making a rumble at low speeds, very annoying so just turned it off. I've driven the IS once on the motorway from Chester on the way back and never noticed anything at all. I'm sure I would feel something or other
  20. "lexus fanboys" grow up and dont be so rude. I am not a "fanboy" any more than you are. My car is an early model and definitely does not have the problem. No car manufacturer issues a recall if only a few are affected. If your car is then take it to a dealer who will fit the damper for you. Ed :megaangry: Well said. Im assuming its not a common issue as this is the first time Ive heard of these drivetrain issues. Even the reviews dont mention it, which would almost DEFINITELY be the case if it existed on all cars as the journalists need an excuse to knock a star off! I would have thought the first point of call would be the dealer to find out what it is and get it fixed if it does exist. I cant find any international forums with this problem either ?!
  21. yes, GP, hence the plate. I saw a White IS300h F-Sport on Friday evening when in my wife's IS300h just outside Staincliffe School by the church- wasn't you was it?!
  22. So, I got to test an IS200T Sport a few days ago. I won't go into details of the styling, interior etc etc but focus mainly on the handling and driving of the vehicle. Bearing in mind, this was an IS200T "Sport" and not an F-Sport but even so, it was very well specced with the business nav and 18" black wheels for a base model. Not a fan of the black mirrors but thats another story, however I did like the grey accenting on the interior. So the drivetrain - well, its good! It feels like a small V6, probably the smoothest four cylinder Ive tested to date and its got plenty of torque for day to day driving. Fuel economy was OK - got about 28mpg but I guess I was driving it pretty hard. Handling is somewhat better than the IS300h down to less weight presumably. The only disappointments - the engine is very quiet for a sporting model. I was told no models have the intake for a throatier sound including F-Sport models and I wish it was a bit louder. But, its a Lexus so maybe thats what customers want. No AVS option on any models either which is odd too. The 8 speed transmission is good, pretty quick shifting for a conventional auto, the only problem was launching from a standstill. Unlike the 6-speed in the NX200T, the launch in the IS200T is very lazy, like its starting in 2nd gear almost all the time. I think this is the reason for the 7s 0-60 time which does feel identical to the NX. It could be much faster - 6-6.5s if it didnt take so long to get up and go from a standstill. No word of a lie, it took about 1 second to move after prodding the throttle from a standstill, something which doesn't happen when rolling. There is slight turbo lag but nothing serious, its just annoying that it takes so long to move at traffic lights when flooring it! Oh and the best bit - turn the traction off and it hits the limiter without shifting up!
  23. Havent felt any odd vibration or anything when driving - I probably would have noticed if it was bad as my RX is silky!
  24. I live in Yorkshire - near Batley. Never put winter tyres on any of my cars and never had a problem either. Best bet is to use main roads in the winter. Ive put all seasons on my RX but not had anything vaguely close to snow/ice yet so cant comment.
