  1. My gosh you complain too much. Read the manual. Firstly the rear vent can be closed completely if clicked all the way to the right/left depending on if it is rigjt/left vent Also the S flow will turn off vents in the rear
  2. I would say that Lexus is ahead of Jag. On a side note let's not forget Lexus sell more cars than Jag in Jags home market!!!
  3. It is working as designed. When in auto the air will be heated up to desired temperature and then blown through the vents. When you take it off auto, all your doing is blowing out cold air and then heating it up again once hot.
  4. It's very noticeable on the RX450H with twin LED bulbs at the front. They cross over and widen the viewing angle by quite alot
  5. It's normal happens on most cars at full lock with electric power steering
  6. My RX was serviced in an hour. Full service and all
  7. They were land sail. And as long as it's premium brand I wouldn't worry. Dunlop Bridgestone pirelli continental hankook michelin etc. It shows how much care the cars been given And I got 27k out of dunlop sp sport. Michelins are looking more promising. Practically no wear in 7k miles
  8. Come to think of it, the IS batteries are heated up using exhaust gases so Id expect the engine to run to heat it up. I hope those Tesla's arent anywhere near 60k miles .........
  9. Yes, the battery is getting flat. I dont know the ins and outs of it but these batteries dont just die completely. They are also dependent on temperature as the following graph shows: So yes, I would presume its the temperature as it has been getting cold but you'd want to change the battery just in case. Im not too familiar with the LS430 but the new cars have a built in backup - you have to open the car using the manual key, then you have to touch the key fob on the power button for a few seconds, and then press the power button using the fob.
  10. Hill near batley on Halifax road. Its only a 2 mile stretch but the problem is it has speed cameras so you need to slow down and accelerate again when going upwards!
  11. Its not a problem with the seats themselves. Ive had this - not on shirts but when cleaning the leather seats there was colour on the MF The colour seems to be coming from the inside of the perforations around the edge where its not sealed. I would think its to do with wet shirts with remnants of washing liquid that does it. Either that or the IS is using high grade semi-aniline leather/aniline leather Best bet would be to get a leather sealant - DODO JUICE supernatural leather sealant will do the trick
  12. Yh I put that one in the first post I posted. Its temperamental though, sometimes it shows other times it doesnt for some reason. Does this one work? http://listers.co.uk/Used/Cars/Lexus/RX/450h_3.5_Luxury/197498 Thats a great example that one - Interior is in good condition and it has rear DVD players too. And the price is good too £29995. Id say you could get them to £27995! The only thing I can see is that its had budget tyres fitted but apart from that its great. Get them to change the tyres and drop the price and its a winner!
  13. It was at 36mpg before we came up the hill - it dropped to 32mpg at that point.
  14. Yes the RX450h came out in 2010 but its worth getting the facelift models as they look much classier with a better infotainment system. They drive better too as they've had some work done to the suspension in 2012. Lexus Bolton is a great dealership, I wouldnt be surprised if they persuaded you to buy it! The only problem with the Beige is its a PITA to clean, moreso the carpets than the seats - my 2004 RX had beige seats and carpets and I resorted to buying new mats every 2 years (kept the car for 8 years). I wish they'd offer beige seats with black carpets and a black headliner - would be a great combo personally. Jason - the daytime running lights came out in 2012 - not many early models out there though.
  15. If you're buying a 2013/14 model, the best time to buy would be now! Reason for this is - they want to get rid of stock to make way for the new RX. Also, its nearing the end of the quarter and you will be able to negotiate a good discount because of this. Ive not heard of many reports of the RX450h losing battery charge. I leave my car for 3 weeks every year when on holiday and it always starts up first time - mine is a 2012. The car also shuts all the lights off etc after 20 minutes or so to avoid discharging the battery. The RX400h didn't do this . With regard to my comment about waiting - that only applies for the expensive ones - i.e the 2015 cars over £42k. They'll take a huge hit. You should be able to get maybe £1-3k off depending on how long theyve had the car and how much they want to sell. What colour combo and spec are you looking for? Ill keep an eye out. BTW the Advance at Lexus Derby - I wouldn't recommend it looking at that back seat - its been ripped apart. However - here are the few with Beige leather in your budget: http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RX/RX-450h/3.5-Luxury/Hedge-End/3427895-605262784-1607054.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RX/RX-450h/3.5-Luxury/Derby/3427895-605320840-1913663.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RX/RX-450h/3.5-Luxury/Bolton/3427895-605432774-1607042.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_
  16. The current model RX450H came out in 2012. Therefore, you'd be financially better off getting an early 201 or 2013 model rather than a 2014/15 model. There's not much difference between them. They are pretty bulletproof in all honesty no major problems. I prefer having service done at the dealer but it's personal preference However Im struggling to see any cars in your budget which are 2014/15 reg with the mileage you want on the Lexus website. I wouldn't buy one of these from anyone but a Lexus dealer though unless you know what you're looking for. And yes Im going to buy the new RX which is coming in January. Bear that in mind as it'll have a bigger impact on the more expensive current shape RX450Hs http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RX/RX-450h/3.5-Advance/Leicester/3266466-605354536-1609628.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RX/RX-450h/3.5-Advance/Derby/3266466-605320898-1913663.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RX/RX-450h/3.5-Luxury/Coventry/3427895-605406992-1607078.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ Quite a few on Lexus website albeit slightly older than what you're wanting but I'd rather the piece of mind especially with the hybrids. They'll be under full warranty for atleast a year. Independent dealers warranty doesn't cover hybrid parts
  17. I persume she must leave it in 'sport' mode and bury the loud pedal at evey opptunity....Hope your budgeting for new rear tyres soon :) OK so I reset the computer before setting off. Total mileage was 12 miles in normal mode. Grand total was 32mpg with heater set at 20.5 auto. I'm getting 30mpg in my RX atm. Maybe it's because the car has only 11k miles on it?
  18. OK so there is a new brand in town! No Glitz No Glamour they call themselves and are exactly what they say, good products without scents, without fancy packaging and best of all they're cheap! So here is the link http://www.noglitznoglamour.com/ I have no associations with this company. I have simply tried their products - mainly the polish (which I rate highly) as well as the other products. All very good for all very cheap prices and a flat delivery charge of £6 Much cheaper than the Autoglym and other detailing products used here. The choice isnt huge but the things they do are very good.
  19. I would really love to know how your wife is managing to get those kind of numbers...The last few trips in the IS has all been less than 5 miles, all from cold, temperature in single digits, yet it's still getting close to 40mpg!! No idea. Im going to reset it tomorrow as we're going shopping and should cover 10-20 miles and ill see what kind of mpg we get
  20. I have just been through this - my wife shunted her car into a garage door requiring a new bumper and fender plus repainting of course. 1) You have the right to choose where your car goes for repair. The insurance company will undoubtedly say that the work won't be covered or whatever but you will get a warranty from the bodyshop, especially a Lexus bodyshop which will give 2 years warranty on any work carried out. 2) You may have to pay an extra £250 excess on top of your original excess to go to a non-approved garage i.e Lexus approved bodyshop 3) Lexus body shops have strict quality control, they shouldn't give you a car back with poor paint job or misaligned panels etc. However, its common knowledge that Insurance approved bodyshops cut corners to lower the cost to the insurance company and therefore increase their profits. Insurance companies choose their "approved repairers" on a cost basis, not a quality of work basis and therefore, it is very likely you'll get a car back with poorly blended paint which may flake in a year. 4) 9/10 Lexus approved bodyshops will get the work done much quicker than insurance approved repairers. Reason for this is that insurance approved repairers are usually saturated with cars whereas Lexus bodyshops charge more (due to their higher quality work and quality checks after each process). 5) Had a look at Rainbow and they don't exactly have great reviews BTW my wife's Lexus IS300h F-Sport was done by RRG bodyshop in Bolton (used by RRG Lexus Bradford, Stockport, Bolton and Manchester). They will collect and drop off the car and I can bet they'd have it done in less than 2 weeks from contact. The 300h has a tri-coat pearl paint and therefore I was quite worried about it but they did a perfect job and would highly recommend them! Ive included a link for you below and you can get in touch with them directly via the bar on the left side where you can upload pictures of the damage etc http://www.rrg-group.com/accident-repair/
  21. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/24L-PORTABLE-COOL-BOX-ELECTRIC-COOLER-CAR-VAN-FRIDGE-WITH-12V-240V-ADAPTERS-/221833655122 Something like this seems like it'll do the job though? and £38!! Im assuming the NX has a socket in the boot?
  22. Ay! I was expecting something to go wrong but the experience was great. I wouldn't hesitate taking any car to them, even if I had a Bentley. If they can get the 3 coat F-Sport White right then they can probably do anything!
  23. Errr no it doesn't , BMW 320d does 0-60 in 7.7secs, the IS300h in 8.3 (0-62). Over half a second is a massive difference ask any drag racer.I think your definition of a sports or high performance car is a little bit different to others. There are plenty of sporty styled cars out there but in this day and age high performance would normally imply a sub 5second 0-60 time and single figure mpg when pressing on. The IS300 is a very good car but it will never fall into the sports or high performance category. You do realise that an IS300H is faster than a C250 cdi in a straight line right? The IS300H is not brake torqued when doing these 0-62mph runs so it loses a second just because of that. Try brake torqueing at a traffic light and you'll be impressed
  24. Wife's IS300H is back from RRG bodyshop is Bolton and came on Tuesday. I've had a quick look today and bumper and fender have been changed and painted. I'll have a look in daylight buy WOW you could never tell it's had a bump! Very happy with the work (and im OCD). Perfect service from Lexus Bradford and RRG bodyshop too. Bump was on Saturday night, closed on Sunday so car photographed on Monday, approved by Wednesday, picked up following Tuesday by 2 guys in Lexus kit and dropped off the next Tuesday. No hassles whatsoever, definitely worth using RRG bodyshop if you do have a bump!
