  1. That's what I meant, you're still covered 3rd party anyway. Ive borrowed about 5 vehicles through servicing for multiple days at a time, sometimes to get warranty work done etc but never had anyone say "oh Ill have to charge you for that". They just take down my license number and thats it.
  2. Yes, to clarify I meant the expansion joints cause a huge thump in Sport + mode, not in the other modes. Maybe its just me but I never found much of a difference in ride quality between the Premier and F-Sport models at all.
  3. Did you go through Lexus approved repairers or just let the dodgy insurance company ones do the job? It'll need taking to Lexus and sorting out if you went through insurance ones, could be anything!
  4. In summary no - the IS220d is not a reliable car by Lexus standard - perhaps on par with other brands such as Audi and BMW. Use the search function and you should find plenty of information regarding reliability issues on the IS220d

  6. Id say value for money goes to the Uniroyal Rainsport 3. Its a great tyre at a great price. The Dunlops are supposed to be better but it depends on whether you think they are worth the extra £20-40 on each tyre. Camskill also do them at a good price and its argued that the noise dB rating doesn't make that much difference in real life. I think it does make a difference when I changed from Dunlop SP270 to Michelin Latitude Tour HP (2db lower rated) but then, I was comparing old, worn tyres to new ones so really not sure. Id assume the Uniroyals on the Golf were the Rainsport 2's? The Rainsport 3 has improved on them considerably - less tyre roarand greater grip in the dry now as well as in the wet compared to them
  7. Not exactly. It uses the same shocks AFAIK but just changes the stiffness. Lexus says "Selecting the AVS system’s ‘Sport’ + mode automatically increases the difference between inner and outer shock absorber damping through corners to further reduce vehicle roll. Simultaneously, VGRS automatically reduces the steering gear ratio by approximately 10% whilst the Electric Power Steering (EPS) increases steering assist torque by some 4%. These measures combine to minimise body roll, sharpen vehicle handling and optimise steering feel for the ultimate in sports sedan driving." For me the only noticeable difference was Sport + mode which gets stiffer. However, between normal, eco and sport it just felt the same as the normal IS F-Sport. The AVS doesnt like expansion joints though, they make their way into the cabin with a huge thump. The Standard suspension handles these better
  8. Do both front tyres have inner and outer wear? That would lead to an indication of underinflation and you say that is not the case. Have you been filling air up whilst the tyres are cold as hot tyres can add around 5psi on to cold psi. Another thing would be to ensure your car is aligned properly. It is possible that there is too much positive camber causing outer edge wear or too much negative camber causing outer edge wear. I have to say though, its quite rare to have both edges wearing at the same time, especially if the tyres are inflated properly as you say they are. Out of interest, what tyre brand, size and load rating do you have? There may be a discrepancy causing this issue
  9. C - most inefficient way to brake. This is the point at which your mechanical brakes take over so all you're doing is heating up the pads/discs and losing energy A - doesnt seem to work for me. Car just doesn't slow down, it keeps going. B - Probably the best method but should be in the middle of the charge section, not near the bottom. It shouldn't feel like ABS is kicking in at all.
  10. It'll put slightly extra load on the wheel bearings. Not too much of an issue as they're fairly easy to replace if they wear out quicker. The car should feel more stable and grip better as a result of the wheels sticking out further.
  11. I was lucky enough to have a dealer with an IS300h F-sport with AVS. Honestly I could feel it become slightly stiffer in Sport+ mode but in Sport, Normal and Eco it felt the same as the IS F-Sport on standard Tokico shocks. Try a road with some expansion joints across, the AVS didnt like those at all!
  12. Hey Argento, The Goodyear Asymmetric 2 or 3 are a great tyre but they do have a very soft compound so wear will not be great. Also, its worth remembering that both the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2/3 are classed as high performance tyres meaning that they will be absolutely awful in colder weather and in snow. They are designed primarily for warm weather wet and dry driving. Another two tyres to think about are the Uniroyal Rainsport 3 (best price is on Camskill atm £56 front and £76 rear) and the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT. The quietest of the lot are the Dunlops and they do have great grip too. As per the name, the Rainsport 3 is awesome in wet weather and OK in the dry. It also has a soft compound for a better ride. Another factor may be how much of a rim protector you want. The Michelins have about 1-2mm sticking out, the Goodyear has between 5-10mm (can fit 2 pound coins next to each other) and the Uniroyals have about 5mm too. The Dunlop Sport Maxx RT has a little lip as well but its similiar to the Michelins.

With regard to the infotainment system, I was expecting it to be horrendous before getting the car going by the reviews on here Honestly I have to say, after having such low expectations, it's impressed me. Its paired up to my phones and wifes phones perfectly (Honor 7, HTC one M9 and Samsung Galaxy note 3), it holds contacts etc. Sometimes it gets slow but it's not often. It also recognises all my music in the order I put it in and displays the names out in the correct format. I am on version D btw. All in all I was expecting to be disappointed but I can't say it's any worse than the MMI system in my brother in laws old Q7 2013 plate which seemed to die every 2 days. Having said that, it's not as smooth as the one in my 2012 RX let alone a patch on the 2016 RX which has the best infotainment system to date on a Lexus. It will be interesting to see the new infotainment system that's going to be on the LC however, should be a good un by the reports I'm getting

  15. This is daft - I dont even get asked whether my insurance company covers me. The idea is that all insurance covers you for driving other cars as long as you have a comprehensive policy anyway?! Ive never been asked for any sort of payment towards the cars Ive used whilst mine is in for service.
  16. Very odd that people find the ride firm in an Exec! I dont even feel that the ride is truly firm in the F-Sport!! Its nowhere near as firm as 3 series on runflats so something is wrong!
  17. If in doubt, press them and find out! I think the right button makes it go clockwise and the left button makes it go anticlockwise
  18. Basically all facelifted CT and all IS300H models. Dealers can get their hands on it and do it but so can other companies. Bear in mind that there won't be any guidelines which move though

  25. Not sure you would find the CT sporty. Id be suggesting a good long test drive as its not the most sportiest car. Its designed to be quiet and pampered in town or on long journeys. The IS250 would be a sportier buy in all honesty.
