  1. These are the "original" F-Sport badges. The first car to host the F-Sport moniker was the pre-facelift 2010 IS, both in 220d and 250 guise and it came with these badges. Im not too familiar with the pre-facelift IS range but it looked exactly the same as the other IS trims at that time apart from the alloys and badge that you see below: Lexus stopped using these badges and since 2012 have only been using these: The long F-Sport badge is on American cars in place of the Lexus badge on the left side of the bootlid.
  2. Should be fine. Check the rear brakes as they don't get used much so may stick. The 400h doesn't have air suspension so is fine in that respect. Sunroofs may leak too so check that. Also check the rear hatch to see if it functions properly and the Sat Nav system for any weird behaviour. Basically all electrics. Id probably buy and then get a Lexus warranty for it
  3. I can't say it's any less responsive than the 2.0d XF though. It does have quite evident turbo lag
  4. The Dunlops are generally better in ratings however especially the Bluresponse and Sport maxx RT. I'm sure the tyre thing still applies. My dealer said they can only sell cars with more than 5mm. They also said stone chips are filled in in layers and a clear coat is applied and then it's wet sanded. This is only my dealer though so it could vary between dealers. I know that Lexus chester for example only fill the stone chips in with their pens and leave light scratches as they are apart from cleaning them or filling them. My wife's IS had stonechips on the bonnet which were obviously filled in and tar remover took it off. 2 wheels are bubbling too (refurbed wheels) which will be done under warranty
  5. I was agreeing on the basis of performance that it does reduce performance if tyres are different on each axle. However I don't know how much of an impact it will have on performance. I guess the only way to test would be to test maximum G round corners on a track. Practically speaking though, it probably won't make the car unsafe or noticeably lose any performance on the road
  6. I doubt it would have enough of an impact tbh. There will still be 3 tyres on the car which would counteract effects of the ditch finder. However, its got a Dunlop on which is hardly a ditchfinder. In fact I'd assume the Dunlop is actually a better tyre than the Yokohama anyway so they've essentially done OP a huge favour :P
  7. What colour is the car? Plastidip only looks right on light colours IMO and it may look slightly odd as you'll be unable to plastidip the Lexus logo due to it being the hybrid version. You could of course make it uniform by debadging that and purchasing an RX300/350 one and plastidipping it. Another option might be to take a page out of the USA Lexus vehicles. They dont come with a Lexus badge, only the model so you could just debadge the Lexus badge on the left side.
  8. You are mistaken. He said Jag XF R Sport not XF-R which doesn't actually exist yet in the new model CVT is fine for driving. 95% of people have no issue with it and some don't really know the car has a CVT
  9. Might be worth telling the government that so they start failing different brands of tyres on one axle in MOTs
  10. Own an IS300H F Sport but driven an XF R Sport. Personally, on the road I didn't think there was much in it between the handling and the ride. They both are great cars to drive. The XF was a 2.0d. We had a 2004 Merc C220 CDI before the IS and the XF drivetrain felt pretty much the same, in other words, a decade old. I found the noise intrusive. The IS is much more refined with very good noise, vibration and harshness levels. The XF didn't feel premium to me at all due to its rattling engine. It's just another rep mobile whereas the IS has a special aura to it I wasn't impressed with the XF quality though. The infotainment is better but it's really bland inside and the switchgear feels cheap, particularly the buttons (centre console and steering wheel), armrests and the stalks. The steering wheel and dash also move slightly when you give it a good shake ( sounds weird but it's my way of testing a cars solidity). Jaguar seem to skimp out on padding too, the door panels sound hollow and the doors don't shut with the same thud as the Lexus (they say it's because Jag uses aluminium doors but then so does the Lexus RX and those doors sound epic!) Also, before you commit, Lexus is releasing the facelift IS on 25th April, might be worth keeping in mind Some shocking things on the XE/XF forum too. Paint defects, orange peel, headlight condensation, misaligned panels, awful standard sound system. Seems like a huge list for any car IMO and those are just the ones I bothered to read. Of course, these are things you don't need to worry about with Lexus being the best in reliability and customer service according to Autoexpress. They also do great in owner satisfaction surveys, usually coming first. Lexus owners generally love their cars and tend to keep buying more (I'm on my 3rd, looking for 4th currently) The IS came 2nd this year for reliability too, after the Lexus RX :)
  11. Agreed but it's not something the law requires. Incidentally one may argue that the tyres are all matched anyway based on spec
  12. Lexus dealers should only be selling cars with more than 5mm on the tyres. However, don't see what the OPs gripe is if the spec is the same? Car could easily have had a puncture and tyre been replaced. The extra wear could be due to softer compound on the dunlop? Or it could be due to the previous owner putting a part worn tyre on to save money. It's not something Lexus dealers need to check as long as tread is legal I wouldn't worry about it. My wife's IS has 3 Bridgestone turanza and 1 Bridgestone potenza, I'd assume because it had a puncture. Honestly though, just check the handout sheet that came with the car to see tyre tread at that time
  13. Also you'll need 3 services a year as its on 10k mileage intervals
  14. Nice! GS 300H looks good, not my style but hey ho No need to worry about battery life.
  15. Looks painted to me. Nice car though but heck its filthy - did you buy it that way?! lol
  16. Both - Technically you can't ever say a car is used wrongly. Its silly to say that a car is used wrongly if doing short mileages as it doesn't say that it shouldnt be used for short distances in the handbook. If it was written in the handbook "DONT BUY THIS CAR IF YOU DRIVE LESS THAN 15K MILES/YEAR" then it would be wrongful use. Yes, in theory it is wrongful use but the average buyer doesn't know this. As per design, they do start to get issues, some are spontaneous like water pumps etc.
  17. Any diesel is more reliable the IS220d one which is a Toyota engine anyway taken straight out of the avensis. Audi diesel reliability isn't all that great - there are plenty of diesel Audi owners with serious issues around.
  18. Although, why is the MPG consistently higher in 2014 in almost all months compared to 2015? Was it hotter in 2014 or something? Or....... was it cautious new car syndrome? :P
  19. Probably just disconnect the negative terminal, its easier than faffing about with chargers.
  20. Only had it freeze once. It should restart if you press and hold the volume knob to switch it off and then do it again to turn it back on. Check that your software is up to date. Mine is pretty smooth and Im on D or something.
  21. I dont think they are - they don't turn on and off automatically, you have to do it manually
  22. LOL might want to get that off pretty quick!
  23. No 12" screen but there should be an 8" instead of the 7" right now. Drivetrain remains the same. The IS might not get the touch pad. Lexus have had poor response on the touch pad from owners
  24. The overal shape of the car is remaining the same. Just the front and rear bumper are being changed and the lights. Everything else should remain the same apart from new wheel choices. F-Sport will get LED lights as standard. In terms of the interior, the sat nav menu and graphics won't be updated. There may be a bigger screen for the centre console and updated software for speed but the actual graphics etc wont change. Hybrid drivetrain - no revisions to the drivetrain (no vibrations here so don't know what you're on about) and damping of the trunk (again, mine doesnt open fast) so doubt anything changed there. Its purely cosmetic changes inside and out. Expect similiar discounts, maybe not £4-5k like currently but about £2-3k will be possible as facelifts don't really change that much in discounts, only the all new models don't attract discounts
  25. That is very steep especially considering the RX450h ones are about £90 regardless of colour without any discount. They usually give it for £70 with haggling. Im aware that the RX450h actually has more carpet than the RX400h so I can only assume the price difference is due to the mats being special order as the RX400h is no longer made. Generally any car mat with a heel pad suggests that the carpet is of poor quality. In beige mats, ebay doesn't seem to have many options. They are all the same grade of carpet. However, I have ordered mats from Carmats4u before and they were good quality. I ordered the luxury car mats which are £35.50 for beige for my previous RX300 + any additional stitching etc. Id assume the Exclusive ones are even better!
