Driver Power Survey - Auto Express
rayaans replied to Goggy's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Mercedes E class Estate has seats in the boot for sure -
It generally just needs a good clean inside but apart from that looks like a decent example. I can't make a judgement on the seats but Id assume they've worn more than the others simply because it has only done 32k in nearly 7 years so it'll be doing a lot of stop/start journeys and driver will be getting in and out so more wear on the seat bolster. Price seems good but make sure you get them to throw in a set of BLACK carpets as it'll suit the interior better. The calipers look like they've just been replaced or repainted too as they're nice and shiny. Having said that, the car is Velvet Black. Its super soft, more so than other Lexus paints so I would thoroughly recommend seeing it as I have a feeling it'll have a lot of scratches on it. Mine was Astral black and it drove me crazy. It used to pick up heavy scratches from drying the car with an MF drying towel!

Top one is from the LS F-Sport whereas the bottom one has been done by someone on ClubLexus Top one has just been stamped in from behind I think. Id assume the leather was clamped down with the badge and held for 2 hours or so. And then it was wrapped around the headrest

Driver Power Survey - Auto Express

How many Tesla owners actually took part in this survey though? If there's only like 10 and they all put down amazing scores then its going to go in their favour. With so few Tesla's around on the road I bet there's some dodgy antics going on behind the scenes too. Wouldnt be surprised if showroom staff are putting scores up using demo number plates. -
Urm yes actually, quite common on cars over 10 years old if you search the forums. Fact of the matter is that straps do break and it can happen on any car. Its not any more of a safety issue than a puncture. It only becomes problematic if a fuel line breaks or you end up leaking fuel everywhere. They usually only brake one side at a time but that generally means they both need replacing. Has the car regularly been rust proofed though? I'm not sure whether they check tank straps on servicing and I wonder if they missed it or its just happened very quickly. You'd be amazed at how quick corrosion sets in. Just look at kerbed diamond cut wheels on MK6 Golf GTI for example, in 2 months they end up with white worm all over them.

Wow the car has come a long way! It looks perfect, I like the wheels and think the fitment is perfect. I think a 10mm drop would looks the dogs danglies I was slightly worried about the diffuser at first as it looks too blue but the black has sorted that out The idea regarding the interior bits seems a very good one and im sure it will look great with white logos on black carbon fibre. The only thing I have spotted is the badge at the rear. I'm not sure I like how the F Sport badge is just sitting above the IS250 badge and its distracting from the fantastic job on the rest of the car. Perhaps it might be cleaner to remove the "Lexus" badge on the left side and replace with the F Sport badge as below: Or it might be a good idea to replace the Lexus badge with the IS250 badge and then lower the F Sport badge accordingly. Next step? Something like this: Btw I found the people who made the badge you were looking for. Might be worth giving them a call if you still need them http://www.fxuk.net/image-gallery-more.aspx?gid=6056&url=vehicle-badging&nscid=589

Lexus IS 300h F-Sport VS Jaguar XF R-Sport
rayaans replied to aceyy2k's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
German hybrids are generally more expensive than the equivalent diesels though and some aren't very well executed as they are noticeable in termsof vibrations when it switches from electric to combustion etc -
That could very well be a plausible explanation but yes, removing the dash on trial and error is quite risky, especially with the amount of rattles that could potentially be created. A re-gas might be the best way forward and its relatively cheap - should be around £50. However, Ive never re-gassed any of my cars and I was under the impression you wouldnt get cold air at all if it needed doing?

Damnnnnn! That is a nice car! That colour is a total eye catcher! Must have got admiring glances already I presume? You definitely aren't faint-hearted are you? Got the two trademark F colours in the garage already, Blue and Orange! -
Did you not get a handout sheet with a visual report that hasbeen carried out? It would clearly have stated the tyres on the car on there.

Driver Power Survey - Auto Express
rayaans replied to Goggy's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Agreed. It provides some insight into the cars and what owners like about them but yes, they aren't really comparing to anything apart from what their preconceptions of that attribute is, for example, practicality. I would also assume that some people who voted in the survey dont actually know what practicality in car terms actually means! -

Few 400h questions
rayaans replied to 240dae's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Honestly if you're doing 1 mile commute then I dont think the RX400h will be beneficial in terms of fuel economy. It'll be doing the same MPG roughly as the RX300. If you've turned the car on, it will run the AC and then automatically start the engine if the battery needs charging. -
Anyone know what model this F-Sport badge is from?
rayaans replied to dougie175's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Thats a healthy proposition for you Robb!! Another option might be to get the new style F-Sport badges that are used in the US for the rear bootlid and with a bit of blue plastidip or paint, colour the F in blue and the SPORT in black? -
10 Speaker premium or 13 Speaker Mark Levinson reviews?
rayaans replied to red-lex's topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
Yes it is worth noting that the suspension on the CT F-Sport is jarring. Its pretty stiff even on standard suspension. -
Agree with Jason. Make sure you have your climate control NOT on "dual" mode. Then check again to see if they are blowing the same temperature air out. The dual function lets the passenger and driver set different temperatures and then, if the setting is on auto, it blows air of different temperatures on one side dependent on temperature set.

Anyone know what model this F-Sport badge is from?
rayaans replied to dougie175's topic in Lexus General Discussions
You could try getting a custom one made from somewhere using this graphic: Alternatively you could use an F badge instead - There are some like the ones below. They are OEM for the IS350C F-Sport but only come as a full engine cover, Part number PTR48-53080 -
10 Speaker premium or 13 Speaker Mark Levinson reviews?

The 10 speaker system is OK. The ML is better however. The navigation system is actually pretty good. Easy to use and gives clear instructions. Never had an issue with it myself. -

rayaans replied to dougie175's topic in Lexus General Discussions
a quick google search doesnt yield great results tbh. No idea on what the part numbers could be so I guess you could just go on autotrader and pull a reg down from there. I doubt they are even made anymore as the new cars all have the gunmetal grey coloured badges -
Few issues I can see straight up - 1) Car is on a private number plate - make sure you get this removed otherwise the car just looks older than it is. 2) Calipers have a bit of rust on them - get them to paint/replace these if you are considering buying 3) The valve caps have been replaced with cheap plastic ones, they should be metal like the valve itself. 4) Can see a bit of rust on the nuts - get them to replace these 5) Im not sure whether they have properly valeted it yet but the driver side door handle looks very shiny - need a good clean. 6) as for the seats, you are right, it appears they look quite good in pictures apart from the creasing which is on the nearest bolster to the door (this is completely normal however the dealer should be able to rectify it by ironing the seats which will help alot!). There shouldnt be any scratches (dont have any on my car) unless someone has been getting in with studded jeans or something. These are what my seats look like: I have 38k miles on my car. The seat looks like it has scratches on but they arent scratches, its just the grain in the leather which looks like that. Is that what is on the car you have viewed? or does it have actual scratches in it? On a side note, my dealer - Stockport have just got a Mercury Grey Premier with Ivory leather and design pack. Its a 62 plate with only 25k miles on and is £2k cheaper. Might be worth taking a look http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RX/RX-450h/3.5-Premier/Stockport/3427896-605647732-1607047.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ No pictures yet but the spec is what you want. It does have a sunroof like the Woodford one too apparently (its listed anyway but might have to confirm this). Stockport usually has vehicles in great condition too.

Driver Power Survey - Auto Express
rayaans replied to Goggy's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Lol this years survey is a bit daft. Lexus IS got docked for practicality. Seriously, people buying a saloon are expecting practicality? Even then, I cant see how its worse than any other saloon out there bar 30 litres of boot space which is hardly that much. RX and GS got docked for running costs - OK so a 2 tonne vehicle with 3.5l engine doing 30+ MPG is bad is it? A model S turned out to have better practicality than a LR discovery, a better ride than an S-class (which wasn't anywhere to be seen) and an MG MG6 had better road handling compared to pretty much everything else! How do cars like the Jeep Cherokee and Subaru Forester even get anywhere near the top? bit fishy isnt it? -
4th Generation IS on the way
rayaans replied to Fatts's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Lexus have a really bad habit of providing very cartoonish looking press release pictures. Ill reserve judgement until I see it in person as I made the mistake of thinking the updated GS-F looked awful until I actually saw it based on this picture: Overall I think the IS looks promising. From what I have deciphered: - All IS trims now get the 10" display and are available in Graphite Black and Deep Blue which replaces Celestial black and Atlantic Blue. They also get remote touch with an enter button (stops the journalists complaining about it moving whilst trying to press down on it) and a leather surfacing along with contrast stitching on the remote touch handrest and on top of the housing above the speedo. - F-Sport models gets LED headlights and a wire grill (metallic Black) instead of the plastic one currently. - New wheel options for the Luxury/Premier model and new interior option with Sandstone appearing like the GS - It appears that the centre console is recessed instead of sticking out (nice touch) and its brushed metal! The surround near the analogue clog has changed slightly too, with less silver plastic and more black plastic. - But.... Where are the seat heating/cooling controls and memory seat buttons? Id assume this is not present in North America? - Word is that Safety System + is standard equipment but dont know if this will apply to the UK! -
Ive searched the Lexus Used website but cant seem to find the car you mean. Can you post a link so we can advise you on it on the condition and seats? Thanks As for the mileage, the car is about 3 years old so assuming 10k miles a year is average, its sitting slightly over average mileage. The bigger services are the 6 year/60k and 10 year/100k ones, all the others are same as before. These cars are generally bulletproof (highlighted by the 3rd Gen RX coming 1st in the Autoexpress Driver Power survey 2016) and you shouldn't need to worry about anything going wrong before 80k. Should be very rare for anything to go wrong before that on these. Im sure Lexus uses semi-aniline leather on the RX Premier. Its very soft and hence not as durable as man-made rhino skin type materials in BMW and Mercedes. Generally you will have the same issue with a 34k mile Audi as they use soft leather too. The dealer should really sort this out by ironing the seats though.
