  1. Dont know. Im in 2 minds. I think it looks a little too bare.
  2. Soooo why aren't you putting the wife on??? lol
  3. Im pretty sure a space saver is actually supposed to be used to get to the nearest tyre place. Using a space saver on the motorway, even at 50mph for an extended journey and WILL lead to £60 fine and 3 points. Seen it happen on more than 1 occasion Might be worth getting an MOT done with a space saver whilst you are at it, it'll definitely fail.
  4. Depends. if Its over £40k you'll get hit with £450 each year until its 5 years old anyway. Should make high polluting cars more desirable after the first year though as they pay the same £450 as even the greenest cars over £40k
  5. Not really a rubbish idea. Some would argue its the best idea in the world - you don't have to go lugging around a whole wheel and a tyre. Lets face it, how often is it that someone has a flat tyre? And even then you don't have to get your trousers dirty if you call breakdown out. In the past week Ive been over glass, plastic bumper pieces etc from a crashed car and I still dont have a puncture...... Using the goo isn't a problem at all - the only reason people don't use it is because they're under the misconception that tyres can't be repaired after the goo has been used. Thats not true, it can be repaired (if the puncture is repairable), its just that the backstreet boys claim "its unrepairable" as they don't want to clean the tyre out!!
  6. If it doesnt happen under braking its most likely not the brakes so you can rule that one out. Id probably say it is the alignment thats off. To check, just go on a straight road and let go of the steering wheel at slow speeds. It may go slightly to the left due to the camber in the road but it shouldn't go to the right and shouldnt go too much to the left. It could be that the car is tramlining i.e following the contours of the road and this could be a result of the tires. It would be interesting to see if this disappears after you get the new tyres fitted. Suspension might have some play in it too which could lead to the car moving around - again, something you need to get looked at just to make sure.
  7. Looking sharp - I think you are the first facelifted GS owner on the forum!
  8. Pretty much everything thats not standard should be declared to the insurance company. Too much hassle if you dont and they find out when/if you have an accident
  9. Hmm not sure you made a wise choice regarding the rotors though. Had these on the Merc and I had to dispose them early as they developed little cracks. Little did I know back then that it's a big issue with drilled brakes. I guess Lexus also found out, the IS-F came with drilled rotors but the RC-F comes with slotted ones Also I guess it's purely cosmetic. They won't really stop the car ant faster, only tires and bigger brakes will do that
  10. They always seem to put speed restrictions for no reason. No crashes, no roadworks etc etc they're just there
  11. Wheel cleaner works pretty well for exhausts too
  12. This is on the wrong section. You should get a better response on the IS250 2nd gen part However, these things are bulletproof. Id be more worried about that Volvo! The engine does have to be dismantled for the spark plugs and you need iridium tipped ones which are £10 each anyway so £60 in total. Lexus also do essential care servicing for cars over 5 years old and it's cheaper than their normal service. Well worth looking into as there's not much omitted. Warranty is £895 for 2 years but you get 2 years roadside as well which would normally cost £125 a year. Pretty much covers everything apart from wear and tear but you do need to get it serviced by them. I wouldn't call the IS250 gutless. Diesels and petrol are very different. The Volvo diesel has a lot of low end torque to get the car moving but runs out of puff when you get over 3-3.5k revs. With the IS250 the power band is high and therefore it loves being revved! So yes sort of like "VTEC just kicked in yo!" But in this case VVTI will be more relevant
  13. What spec are the wheels and tyres?
  14. The VED is not about pollution anymore. The government don't really care about the CO2 and therefore it doesn't really matter how much CO2 your car produces after the first year, it will still be taxed at the same rate as the other cars provided its under £40k. Fuel duty is already outrageous in this country and adding VED onto it will just make people complain I think its actually got fairer since 2017 - people with more expensive cars will have to pay more tax - the way I see it, if they can afford to keep changing cars every 3 years then they can afford to pay the extra £310.
  15. Hi Jon, The new VED will NOT affect any cars registered before April 2017. Therefore, the 09 ISF you gave an example of will not have any change in the tax price. It will continue to pay the £485 you mentioned. If you bought an RC-F with its 252g/km CO2in March 2016, you would pay the current rate of £870 (first year) and then £490 per year so over 5 years it would cost you £2830. However, if your new RC-F got delayed by a month and it was registered in April 2017, you would have to pay £1700 in the first year and then £140 a year after that along with the £310 supplement for 5 years as its over £40k. Therefore you would pay £3810 after the changes. Now the best way to avoid the first year tax is simply to buy a high polluting vehicle like an RC-F after its 1 year old! :)
  16. Well they won't affect anybody if they don't change their car will it?! So essentially it could be argued it's a tax on those who frequently change cars which IMO is fine anyway as they probably have the money to spend on depreciation so what's another £300 in comparison if you have a car over £40k attracting a good £4-7k drop yearly Makes sense though from my eyes, cars are taking up the road and its a "road tax" for "repairing roads". It's good that it's all somewhat standardised for cars under £40k as they use somewhat the same amount of road. Cars over £40k tend to be bigger anyway so rightly attract more tax
  17. aarghh got confused, not AIMGAIN supercharger lol, they do cosmetics. I meant ARMA supercharger. They've been running 300hp+ I believe
  18. There are some companies around saying they can get a maximum of 15% gain from the IS250. Most likely you'll get about 5-10% which probably won't be felt anyway. Generally it was thought that the ECU couldn't be cracked but I dont know if that is still the case at the moment. Someone mentioned the IS220d ECU being cracked as well so maybe they have been cracked after all. A supercharger would get you better gains. Take a look at Aimgain Superchargers. Quite pricey but well worth it if you plan on keeping it for a while.
  19. US owners get locked out if their back but luckily we don't! You should get about 40-45mpg and you certainly shouldn't have any issues with the batteries. Loads of Toyota Prius have done mega mileages, sometimes over 500k still running on original batteries
  20. They are mandatory fit for all vehicles registered after November 2014!! And if you have a faulty TPMS they WILL give you an advisory on MOT for it since 2015. Metal caps are not an issue. I've got metal caps on both cars and my RX I have had for 4 years now. Too many people put them on too tight. They only need very light finger pressure to put on, not a hard twist! You wouldn't put your wheel nuts on with a pneumatic nut runner would you? That's the difference between not getting your nuts off or getting them off and it's the same with valve caps. To clarify on TPMS. If they are set to 36psi, you DON'T need to reset them each time you fill up with air. It only needs resetting if you change tyres or something
  21. Take a trip to wilko an get a spray bottle and 1001 3-in-1 carpet shampoo for machines. It doesn't have bleach in unlike the other brands. Or..... you can get some standard all purpose cleaner Put 2 capfuls in a spray bottle and fill with hot water. Spray it all over the felt arches (works good on plastic too) and then just wash off. You won't even need to scrub if you do it regularly
  22. It's always been 241bhp which is equivalent to 245ps or 245 DIN HP
  23. True, it'd take 6 mins max if you go for a run. If you sprint all the way then maybe 3 lol
  24. Agreed its acceptable but the guys who do this work usually work on little Citroen's and Fiesta's, not to mention the time constraints theyll have. They'll do work which would be acceptable for the majority of people but it'd drive me crazy
