  1. Barely any difference in the 3rd gen IS with the ML and Pioneer 8 speaker sound system. ML sounds slightly cleaner but its not enough to really justify the cost. Having said that the 8 speaker system is much better than the 6 speaker standard IS system on the 3rd Gen. With the 2nd gen the difference was more pronounced
  2. Hoenstly Howard, you will have to stick with cosmetic mods as these are naturally aspirated engines. Its tough getting an ECU remap as its locked down and even if you did, you'll see minimum gains.
  3. If you buy from a Lexus dealer and something goes wrong, you can take the car to Lexus Cardiff for warranty work. The Lexus warranty is national and can be used at any Lexus dealer.
  4. I'm actually considering a new RX. I'm going ex-demo this time as they seem to take a HUGE hit in the first year - £10k+ sometimes and my car is worth less than half of new value after 3.5 years. The main reasons for going for the service plan are the half price MOT (£25) 10% off accessories, parts and labour (they changed my tyres for £50 for all 4) and it's inflation free and can be paid monthly without interest. You do get free puncture repairs too. Last time I got 2 majors and a minor for £996. Its £1135 if paid separately so I got a decent discount. The prices also went up by £30 for the intermediate on the RX recently AFAIK if you get another Lexus you can just transfer the cost to the servicing of your next car. If you don't, they cancel it for £25 administration fee. If your crash and it's written off its free of course lol Also I was looking through what gets done in the service and there was some confusion in other threads about whether the air filter gets changed. In the RRG plan, it DOES get changed, not just inspected.
  5. Generally like all main dealers, Lexus dealer prices are higher bu you get a full Lexus service history and the warranty of course. The prices usually reflect the condition so if it's more expensive for an older car it's probably in better condition. Some good deals going on IS250s at dealers so dont completely rule it out.
  6. I've generally never had an issue but I usually buy used cars from main dealers so if anything serious goes astray I can get it sorted by them I always feel like private used cars are a bit of a mindfield and I've come to the conclusion that I'd rather pay a little extra for some reassurance
  7. I'm not sure whether they would fit an IS300H F Sport. Hmm they also seem diamond cut. Bloody expensive to repair! I was thinking these 19" bad boys
  8. So my 4 yr 40k service is due. I've booked it in for the 1st of June at Lexus Bradford. So the to do list: - full service - MOT (half price due to service plan) - Full valet (1 per annum on service plan) - courtesy car (whatever is available for 2 days but a car is guaranteed) Now on top of that I needed a 3 year service plan (50, 60 and 70k) for the RX and 3 services for the IS (3, 4 and 5 year). I got a generic £935 quote for the IS and £1295 quote for the RX. This was a standard computer generated quote so I'm going to give them a ring and haggle (I always do and it certainly works) and I expect a heavy discount as ive been a customer for 11 years now I'll let you know how it goes.
  9. What colour combo and budget are you looking at?
  10. If you've got an IS300h F-Sport, 19" would be the largest you can go. Lexus do some 19" F-Sport wheels which look INSANE. They're pricey but the fitment is spot on and the lip on them is massive!
  11. Sorry, Im confused now. This is in the IS-F forum so you probably can go to 20's if you have an IS-F. Just taken a look and you can fit 20 x 8.5 on the front but will need an offset of 38 to get it as close as possible to current setup. You'll have to fit 225/30 r20 tyres and will see a gain of 2mm in ride height so nothing significant on stock suspension. The rear will have to be on 255/40 r20 with a 48 offset if you're going for 20 x 9.5. Ride height will go down by 0.05mm which is nothing really. I originally thought you had an IS F-Sport because it says 2014 model on your profile.
  12. IS-F does decent economy TBF, especially on long runs!
  13. I saw that he got a Merc but didn't read everything else! Sorry for the late reply though - took ages just to scroll through the severe load of IBS on the Merc forum Just get an IS-F - white one with 84k miles is on, previous forum members I believe and I doubt it'd give you any trouble lol
  14. Thats a notorious code for being pretty much anything. Could suggest an exhaust leak or the CAT is shot so worth checking that out first. Unlikely to be oxygen sensors as they have their own code.
  15. Whats going on? What happened then? give me an overview atleast lol
  16. I wouldnt worry about the electrics on these, its not a Merc!! ha Our Merc had stupid amounts of electric work that needed doing. My RX300 had the electric steering column, it was still working 8 years later. My RX450h has also got it, along with the electric easy access seats. The steering wheel works fine but I turned the seat off as I usually put my lunch in the footwell in the back and it crushed my sandwiches once lol.
  17. Of course be aware that the car will not be covered under warranty if you choose to get this done. Not a risk Id be willing to take to be honest with you.
  18. Without changing the suspension, 19" and you would have to get tyres to match i.e extremely low profile tyres
  19. Its an original F-Sport. They had different badges and were available only in Europe. Last 3 MOT's have been passes - the most recent one had tyre worn close to legal limit as an advisory and the "engine cover fitted" get out statement so generally seems OK mechanically
  20. Got to say, I have no issues with any of the music in both my RX and my IS. The system only takes a while to load if I take the USB out and put it back in again. If you just leave it it'll remember. Dont see the big deal with cover art either - how does that affect listening to music again?!
  21. Maybe its just the number plate holder overpowering everything lol
  22. Hmm I wonder what it would look like with a silver edge and just the inside of the grill plastidipped?
  23. Im pretty sure the new 2017 VED is going towards roads now though!
  24. From the pictures it looks like some may be able to polish out so worth trying that just to see how far you get. The top scratch looks much deeper though so most likely wont be able to be polished out. AFAIK they SHOULD release the footage as its against the law to have an accident and failt to report or stop no matter how minor it is. So yes speak to the council and Sainsburys and if they dont agree, go to the police about it.
