  1. Shouldnt really jump start the IS. Has a big sticker on the bootlid saying "Do not attempt to Jump Start this vehicle". 4 weeks is not an issue, I left mine over winter for 4 weeks and it was fine. Petrol goes a bit off. I can feel the car running better on petrol straight from the station than on the 4 week old petrol (wife fills up once every month or something)
  2. An advance will be labelled as an Advance on the V5 and dealers will call it an Advance. They usually are the SE-I with added sunroof and cosmetics. Usually you can tell that it's an advance due to its shadow chrome wheels The autotrader one has missed a lot of its services. They should be every 10k. Not sure on how others feel but my car is serviced at 10k intervals or earlier but this car has been doing almost 16k in one of its early services and has consistently done more than 10k between some.
  3. Does it with all glass cleaners tbh not just the astonish. Turns out that newspaper seems to leave residue on the glass so prefer using microfibers and this new glass cloth!! I love it! I've never had an issue just getting my hand there really.
  4. It's most lily alignment. Two different tyres on the front shouldn't make a huge difference if any. Get the alignment checked out, if it's off sort it and then see how it is. Having said that you'd see other problems if the alignment was off such as shoulder wear etc
  5. I would have thought you can stick any aftermarket backbox on if you go to a decent place. If you want oem you're going to have to pay oem prices.
  6. £130-150 seems to be the going rate for the tyres front and rear dependent on which ones you go for. The Dunlops are keenly priced and if you think about it, the IS250 and IS-F sizes aren't hugely different. My IS is on 255/35 r18 rear so exactly the same width and aspect ratio just different diameter rim. I think the 255/35 r19 is quite popular, hence cheaper than the front one.
  7. The width and sidewall thickness is related. The 35 or 40 you see on the tyre is the aspect ratio. Therefore if a tyre is 255/35 r19, it means its 255mm wide and the sidewall height is 35% of that width. Therefore a 225/40 r19 tyre has a 90mm sidewall thickness so 45mm on the bottom and 45mm on the top. A 255/35 tyre has a 89.25mm sidewall, so 44.6mm on top and 44.6mm on bottom. The idea is just to get the rolling radius of BOTH tyres to be the same. If the rear was on 255/40 it'd be out by a lot. Either its that or Ive just gone completely crazy lol
  8. They are pretty bulletproof, pretty much as bulletproof as you can get! The 3rd Gen RX was the most reliable vehicle in the latest 2016 Autoexpress reliability survey too which shows! Mine is currently on 40k and its not had a single issue, the brake pads are still on 30% worn lol, thats regen for you! And tyre change is every 26-30k mile which is great for the size of vehicle. The Lexus Reading one looks in good nick. Cosmetically the Advance models get shadow chrome effect wheels and the front and rear under runs which make it look nicer. The seats look great for 75k miles (I suspect someone small and light has been driving it). It also seems competitively priced and should take another 100k miles no problem. The only issue I can see with the car is that it should have a grey glovebox, but it has a black one. I suspect thats because it was scratched from knees or something and they couldn't find a replacement?! But, its hardly that bad, looks good regardless
  9. Due to my profession I have to keep putting alcohol gel on. The older ones, i.e before 2013 are interchangeable. The IS and RX ones are basically the same pre-2012. Mine is the F-Sport one with perforated leather as well so its tricky to get hold of on UK ebay. Might take a look on AliExpress lol.
  10. The tyre sidewall is a ratio of the width, therefore if you go wider, to keep the same sidewall thickness, you have to go down in tyre profile number. Also, Dunlop Sport Maxx RT are just as good as the Michelin Pilot Super Sports so no point wasting your money. Ran them both on another car and there was no noticeable difference but the Dunlops are quieter, the pilot sports tend to roar a bit.
  11. Dont do that lol! Just press and hold the volume button down, it should restart the system.
  12. Servicing at Lexus dealer will set you back £295 for an intermediate, £545 for a full, £895 for the full + 60k mile one and £695 for the full +100k mile one. You should be able to get a discount from these prices though as they are the Capped prices that Lexus UK set. You should be able to get 5-10%, sometimes more but its entirely dealer dependent. Fronts are about £130 and rears around £120. Odd that the rears are actually cheaper sometimes dependent on tyre.
  13. The SE-L ones have air suspension and therefore best avoided simply because they could go wrong at any time at those mileages and they come with a big bill if they do go wrong. 2012 models are the late pre-facelift models as there was a facelift in May 2012 when the newer cars came out. Therefore you can rest assured that any niggles in the earlier models will be sorted out completely. If you can, stretch to a facelift model. These cars have a slightly different suspension and handle better as a result. What sort of budget are you looking at? I'll take a look on the Lexus used website for some good example for you.
  14. Im particularly impressed with the logo though - it looks superb
  15. That looks factory fresh! Bet it'll look superb once its in and that logo looks great too.
  16. £60 ive been told for the shifter. I can probably just fit it myself - just screws off apparently but its not too bad so doesnt really need doing. Ill wait till it becomes worse or I cant stand it anymore.
  17. Doesnt work with this astonish glass cleaner stuff. Seems to just spread the smears around.
  18. So after nearly 4 years and 40k miles with the car, Ive come across my first MAJOR issue on my RX450h. Turns out its not very serious but it'll still drive me crazy! Well, its a simple wearing of the gear shifter leather. Must be the potent oils in my hands or something but some of the leather has started to wear away slightly around the silver edges. Mine is the one shown below: Now considering its the main problem ive ever had, thats saying something about the RX's reliability record!
  19. Have you ever cleaned interior glass with a normal microfiber and realised there's always some form of smear left behind? I have and it drives me nuts! Ive used a lot of glass cleaners all with the same, and then different microfiber cloths. Some are obviously better than others at stopping the smearing but they all do it to some extent. So, the worst for smearing is "Astonish Glass cleaner with Anti Fog". Its so bad it almost makes you blind in the sunlight! Well anyway, I picked up a "CleanIt Ultra Glass polishing cloth" from Home Bargains for 39p or something and used a normal microfiber to apply the Astonish glass cleaner. It left so many smears even after 5 minutes on one glass!! Pulled the Home bargains glass cloth out and gave it a quick buff and voila! Smears are gone! Highly recommend it and its made my glass cleaning routine much easier and faster!
  20. Any leather repairer should be able to sort it out. They might just remove the armrest and re-upholster it or it'll be cheaper to just do that section.
  21. There's no model change for the RX. Somethings may change but it'll mostly be specifications. The RX is just getting an add on 7 seater but expect it to be longer and differently shaped around the back. Expect a price hike too. Its coming out later this year/early next year in the US so will be with us most likely around May 2017
  22. First letter an R on the reg? I believe that was a previous forum members car if it's the white one with 84k on it and diffuser + black rear badges DI'd it also have something done to the exhaust?
  23. Looks decent that one. Has some subtle mods - rear diffuser and steering wheel as well as the black wheels of course
  24. I always feel like non-main dealers hide significant things. Mind you all dealers can do that but they always hide things like the MOT history apart from the most recent one and you'd only really find out if you went looking. For the average joe, these things can catch them out.
