I never added a rear view dashcam. I figured it wouldnt be much use to me as if someone hit me from the back itd be quite clear who did what especially when the front dashcam can show the direction of travel lol

I think reliability will play a part but then how much? Even when considering ICE vehicles, there are plenty of German cars on the used market which aren't massively reliable but they still get picked up and regularly so. Build quality still plays a part although some people simply dont care. Look at all the Tesla's around as an example. If Jaguar or Lexus rebadged a Tesla Model 3 and sold it as their own, theyd get slated

I agree So Im hoping things are speedier due to both of us being insured by the same company. I usually take it to the Lexus bodyshop that did the RX and IS twice. The repair was good so I will be using them again. Luckily, despite looking a lot uglier, the car is driveable and nothing has fallen off yet so thats atleast some reassurance.

UXe took a hit from the rear today. Letting a van come through a narrow road and bang, old chap in a Meriva comes around the corner - luckily at not much more than the speed limit Damage done, details exchanged and luckily he's also insured with Admiral so hopefully all goes smoothly. A bit worried about this paint but taking it to Lexus so hopefully can sort it out. Likely will replace the plastic trims and bumper. 20220622103215_0002701_Trim.mp4

I think front bumper, bonnet and A pillars are worthwhile but anything more than that is probably a bit overkill dont you think? The rocker panel might make sense but not just a lone piece as you can see the edges otherwise. Luckily there is a panel line the sideskirts can be done in that one panel.

I think this is probably how most dealerships would have handled it. There is a clear stone chip that has gone down to the metal and this would cause water to get in especially in an area where water would be forced in near the wheels rather than on a door for example. I had a similiar thing with a Jag and the dealership rendered it due to a stone chip as well - which was quite evident to be honest. In the end just had a smart repair to stop it worsening

Battery capabilities

You get about 1 mile from the battery itself in EV mode which sounds quite small. However, leave it in normal and the vehicle will use the battery at low speeds and then the engine will kick in at higher speeds, recharge the battery whilst also braking will cause it to regenerate. So it essentially does this over and over again. Lifetime of the battery is difficult to gauge but Ive had Lexus hybrids since 2012 and never had any issues with the 450h. Its a very reliable unit. I sold my 3rd gen RX450h with 55k miles, my current RX has 47k miles on it and the IS300h we had had 18k when sold so I honestly wouldnt worry about the battery. Not sure on the cost but I dont think many have been replaced whatsoever. I think MPG wise im getting about 25mpg in town and can get 35-38mpg on a steady 70mph run -

I did a lot of research into it before the UXe arrived. I went for the Zappi V2 in the end due to the raving customer service reviews. I did use the warranty for a faulty solenoid and they came out within 2 days and replaced it. No issues since then and its been used quite well. Luckily it was at a time when the £350 grant was still available to homeowners so it worked out quite well -
Where did you get 50% extra range on the RZ from? Its about 25% assuming the RZ will have around 250 miles. Some tesla supercharger stations are open to any vehicle so it depends on where you're going. I would say most motorway charging stations are fine but you do have to wait sometimes as they don't have enough. The best way to do it is to find a random charger somewhere, like a hospital for example.

My 3rd RX

Congratulations - pics please! Why does your air con need a regas? its only 4 years old and probably doesnt. Leave the air con on all the time and dive into the settings to change the flow / eco settings as that makes it blow less air out -
The leather needs a good cleaner and sealant. Dodo Juice leather kit is very good and easy to use. It will make the lines in the leather look much improved. I would probably say that the autoglym conditioner has likely increased wear on that bolster to be honest. Modern leather does not need conditioning and all it does is simply attract dirt and dust.

They're all much of a muchness in what they do. We've got a zappi and it's been great so far. It had one issue but it's within the warranty and the customer service from zappi was absolutely amazing -
Rough paint and spotty wax. Anyway to correct?

There are plenty of consumer ceramic coatings that last up to 2 years. Some of the better ones include things like Pyramid car care coatings and Cquartz Lite. Gyeon Cancoat is a brilliant product but doesnt have the same level of durability compared to the other two but it is cheaper. Ceramic Pro tends to be the long lasting one if you go for the 10 year package. It is guaranteed for 10 years too but you need to have evidence of proper maintenance i.e. a yearly maintenance visit to the detailer to check the coating. -

UX power increase sometime soon?

Maybe but I highly doubt you'd feel 12hp. -
No, so it only seems to affect the early cars - 2013-2014 which have the above shiny plastic radio and AC controls. The later matt plastic versions dont appear to be affected. Likely if the battery is changed by Lexus, if it bricked the radio they would have to replace it as the car went into their premises with a working radio and came out of their premises without one
-
Same happened to mine after a battery change which is usually the cause contact http://www.lexusbreakers.co.uk/ It cost about £450 I think
-
The cost of options apparently are ridiculous. The First edition is said to be £71995 yet you cant actually buy one for that and its actually £75995. I wonder if they do the same thing with the £59995 version when it arrives
-
Different breed of vehicle. One is a GT car and this is designed more for the race track. I highly doubt refinement and build quality will be as good as the LC. The other issue is yes, the engine may be reliable but the electronics could potentially be a nightmare

But the sales events tend to include used cars as well. More often than not, they transport lots of used stock from within their dealership group or Lexus UK and advertise it at the dealership with money off or dealer contributions. You're correct when you say they have sale targets and these are financially beneficial to them, but if you're buying a new car a week after the sales event has gone, you would still get the same deal. Obviously if its used then theres a chance itll get sold during that sales event You may also notice that these events regularly take place just before, or soon after a new model is released - its a way of shifting a lot of stock

Well even with the price of electricity at 27p/kwh its still hugely cheaper to run compared to an ICE. It costs around £14 for a full charge which gets a good 160 miles. I spend £100 for a tank of fuel on the RX and it gets me about 350 miles. Its 1/3 in the cost of fuel alone for me. Besides - I havent noticed any drop in car usage. People are still driving around, still filling up their cars at £2/L and splurging on holidays. I mean I see people filling up at Shell which is across the road from BP. The BP is 2p/L cheaper yet it still gets fewer customers. Recession? no, not even close and only a fool would think otherwise. People still have a lot of savings built up over the pandemic to cover for these things.

The sales events are rubbish. Its just to get people into the showroom and push sales for the end of the quarter Most of the time you can get the same discounts or better on a different day.
