Generally you should be able to service the RX yourself - might need to get someone to do the spark plugs at 60k though, apparently they're lodged halfway inside the engine and it needs a lot of dismantling. The hybrid system itself is maintenance free so you shouldnt need to tinker with it. The map updates are expensive and no point really getting them. Services are fixed price now - go for the service plans and you should be able to pay monthly.

So finally got the car serviced. They had it for 1.5 days and gave a CT Advance as a courtesy car (its OK but annoyingly rough at times!). Car was serviced (all good) and MOT passed with no advisories at all and was only £27! So the RX has done 40k now and still has 7mm on the brake pads so about 4-5mm of useable brakes! Guess the regenerative braking pays off. I also ended up getting 2 service plans at £1295 for the RX (50k, 60k and 70k) and one for the IS for 3 years at £935. Apparently Lexus UK have fixed the prices - I called around and was quoted the same from every dealer within a 30 mile radius! Anyway, I get free puncture repairs, half price MOT, full valet each year and 10% off everything else so its OK.

My IS does that too - I think the reason is so that it doesn't hit someone in the face - trust me, seen it happen before!

Redstuff pads are rubbish - I know many owners who have had redstuff pads disintegrate, crack etc The Genuine lexus disks and pads are pretty good to be honest but if I were you Id probably just go for brembos

Yep, did it once on my RX in a traffic jam downhill - Engine just didnt turn on and travelled about 10 miles in an hour with an MPG readout of 54.7mpg lol

30mpg on the motorway is achievable. Short trips lead to the 21mpg you mentioned

There is a delay - noticeable but not a huge issue - I believe its to do with the "unintended acceleration" problems in the US I also recall that the 8 speed gearbox uses some form of artificial intelligence and therefore will "learn" the drivers driving style over a period of time. I was told by my dealer that they reset the system before selling their demos or used cars whilst they go through inspection otherwise it'll shift according to someone elses driving habits. Whether thats true or not is anyones guess. The underwhelming acceleration is probably due to the weight of the thing - its very heavy, more so than the IS and this engine suits the IS more. Its also better mated to the 6 speed boxes in the RX and NX.

Either way it's going to cost around £400-500 if you go past April 2017. Aim for March 2017 and you'll be better off

I probably would have driven it just to check the ride though! No need to buy afterwards ha!

Just let them have the car for 2 days - they'll give you a loan car anyway if you ask!

I meant DVD-Audio which plays when moving too. Its just extremely hard to find them - have to make them yourself and it takes a while.

Dealer is having you for a fool IS300h has service intervals of 10k miles/1 year for private buyers and 12k miles/1 year for business users. Therefore, that IS is missing 2 services and warranty will be affected. However, having said that the warranty is set to run out this year regardless. The warranty is 3 year/60k miles. All Lexus vehicles have a service book, Lexus stores information on their system but its not readily available by each dealer. Its cheap because it doesn't have a service history.

The point is, its not a serious issue. Its the design of the car - negative camber means you will ALWAYS get inner tyre wear on the rears. Any car with negative camber will do this, not just Lexus. A few cars which do it - BMW X5, X6, E90 3 series, 4 series...... the list goes on and on.

Take a look on Autotrader. Just go test drive an SE at an independent dealer if you can and if its closer.

Yes thats right. The way I see it though, if you can afford to change your car every few years you can probably afford the extra £310 per year. What car are you thinking of buying? Manufacturers wont drop their list prices. On a side note - buy a car in March 2017 and you get the current VED rates

My go to tyres in that size would be the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT or RT2 or the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 3. Both have good noise ratings, not to mention good economy and wet ratings too.

Yep, just double checked. The Subaru is £870 for the first year and then £500 odd after that. The EVO will have to be around 2009-12 plate. They're quite rare and need servicing every 6 months/4500 miles I believe. You wont be doing much more than 15mpg either. It also appears you're comparing apples to oranges at the moment. The WRX and EVO have a very harsh ride.

The inner wear is normal - no alignment is going to sort that out Its the result of negative camber on the rear which is actually quite prominent. Oh, and the negative camber is not adjustable!

Is the road tax not £500? Thats more than I pay for insurance on my RX. IS200t works out about £300-400 for insurance, all things dependent ofc

What sizes are they? Ill take a look at which ones are available, especially if you have staggered setup as it can be difficult to find matching tyres sometimes.

Probably down to the PSI, change of tyres etc rather than anything else. Or a placebo effect
