  1. Ive driven over some nasty roads in the IS round here at a high speed without realising and its great! Turns out it gets smoother the faster you go as well!
  2. The only reason it cost £3.5k is because DJP took it to Lexus. Im sure any random bozo on the street could do it for £150 but I doubt DJP would have been happy with it.
  3. The AVS isnt worth it as an option thats why not many people got one. Pretty hard to find too. Nah its not, was in a Prius taxi yesterday and been in plenty of them, they ride really rough. The IS F-Sport is marginally better but not much of a difference. The IS tends to smooth the edges off, the Prius hit potholes and felt like it was on rock wheels. Its like the saying the CT Advance is smoother than an IS F-Sport. Nope not the case, the CT loaner I had last week when my RX went for a service was shocking in terms of ride quality.
  4. Yes I believe the SGS engineering ones are good quality too. Built in the UK as well, unlike the chinese ones.
  5. The part number is 6895049016 or 1HK03TF96 Cant help on where to get them but the US seems like a good bet - most dont ship to the UK though I believe a good option might be to go see a Toyota dealer who may do it cheaper or go for an aftermarket option (plenty available)
  6. I drove an SE a while back. It was a 2012 loaner vehicle and it came from the factory with 18" wheels. It was smoother and TBH there was no difference in wallowing as thats to do with the suspension.
  7. I drove an IS with AVS and I didn't notice much of a difference either. In fact it was actually harsher over expansion joint in my experience but that could just have been the tyre pressures on them You wont be disappointed in ride quality of the IS F-Sport. It rides softer than the Prius does TBH. The Prius and CT are quite rough!
  8. You see that plastic piece behind the number plate and grill? Behind that is a proper crumple bar. Dont see an issue with it - if it costs too much to repair just go through insurance
  9. 18s do make a difference yes. Check your tyre pressures too. I run 37psi but Lexus recommend 32 on the RX so you probably want to put it at 32psi all around Road noise will be down to the tyre choice itself. The 3rd gen RX is quieter so it's the only thing it could be.
  10. Still haven't got around to this. Once update is complete do you have to get out of service mode? And if so how do you?
  11. The new one has the touchless sensor. It's awesome. You can open it with your head if you wish!
  12. Not surprised really. Saw one fling off on the motorway the other day and undoubtedly damaged someone else's car
  13. They should be set to 36psi anyway I highly doubt theyd be at 32psi. I think he just made that up because I presume the tyres would look somewhat flat if they were at that pressure
  14. As mentioned a warped disc on its own would count as a wear and tear problem and not be covered. If there's an issue with the ABS or something else mechanical then it would be but ultimately depends on the root cause
  15. BMWs are VERY particular about their screenwash. I believe the X5 gets pump issues. Gets clogged up with supermarket screenwash
  16. Hahaha orange by any chance? Don't say purple now lol Did he take them off or did they fling off?
  17. Helps the economy and I presume its so they dont have to check it as often on their demos. Also makes the car feel "different"
  18. Sorry should have been clear - I meant the functionality of the phone not the 7 digit postcode. Third party software in the US have tackled that so thatd be the first place to look
  19. You want Autosmart Screenwash dilutes 1:40 but it works very well and no problems. £19 for 5 litres and generally, its what gets put in all cars nowadays as they only supply to the trade. Therefore you have 200L of screenwash for £19 lol http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-Litre-Autosmart-Clearview-Screenwash-/291626087416?hash=item43e644f3f8:g:el0AAOSwt6ZWWHWP In the UK the BMW one costs about £5 for 50ml therefore giving you 5l of fluid. Gets expensive quickly! Be wary about screenwash - certain screenwashes have a tendency to kill the pump.
  20. I believe it can be done via third party software so it is as simple as changing the codes around a bit
  21. Interesting read there. Where did you manage to test the cars? Also, something to consider are the tyre pressures. If it was at a dealer, very likely that the tyre pressures are somewhere beyond what they should be - The CT200h I had recently was on 40PSI!!
  22. Im sure Norway is also thinking about banning combustion vehicles from 2020 onwards as well. Brave move.
  23. It does depend on who the tyre fitter is as well. Some do use anti seize but they tend to be the ones who tighten with a pneumatic air gun (a generalisation of course) Personally I havent had any trouble with nuts seizing when torqued to the right spec
  24. Perfect result then! Sounds like you've fallen back in love with your Lexus! Good to hear!
  25. Ouch, you'll have to get them to use a torque wrench next time! Overtightening the nuts isn't great really!
