  1. Stuck on with self adhesive tape - you can literally just pull it on very hard and itll come off. But - id probably use a hairdryer to soften the adhesive just to ensure theres no damage.
  2. Its my wife's car and she only uses it in town for VERY short trips - gets about 30mpg. I drove it myself for about 30 miles and got 45mpg. Its a lovely car - very refined and a bargain looking at the spec list and discounts you can get on it compared to the competition!
  3. Generally they only give about £500-1000 on used car sales - unless they really really want to get rid of the car!
  4. IS250 only has the ivory leather interior option which is light, or the grey. Im pretty sure it'll be on the VIN. Stick the vin into a Lexus/Toyota VIN decoder and it should come up with an interior colour
  5. I'd probably take the rear bumper protector off tbh. It's obsolete Mine doesn't have one and I can't see how you could possibly scratch it as there's a boot lip anyway
  6. I used to get worse than that. I got 18mpg in town and barely 28 on the motorway. I'm getting 30 mpg in town now
  7. Ah yes, well it would have cost more but I think it was a manufacturing defect rather than anything else. The issues Colin has had are very rare
  8. Same with all cars, nothing new really.
  9. 30mpg in town and about 35mpg on the motorway - all dependent on driving style and other factors of course.
  10. Snow mode starts the RX off in the "2nd gear" so to speak - makes it difficult to slip, the whole car feels very heavy and doesn't slip as much as it would do if you were in normal mode. The 2016 4th Gen RX do NOT have a snow mode, all the others do. Best way to check for ACC is the steering wheel. I believe the models with ACC has a picture of a car with waves coming out of the front under the enter button
  11. Yep thats right. Nothing apart from bushes and bubbling wheels. Having said that, Ive never bought a car in its first year of production, apart from the IS300h. I had the RX300 8 years, the 400h 4 years, 450h 4 years now and the IS for 1 year (but its nearly 3 years old) Ive only had 1 firmware update done but did it myself from the Lexus tech website. I thought he said it was under factory 3 year warranty so it wouldnt have cost anything anyway?
  12. Identification of the dealership is not an issue, you can give as many details as you feel comfortable. If you feel comfortable with the car, and after checking all the footwells, under the bonnet etc, the dealer MIGHT be prepared to put extra "no questions asked" warranty on the car. In that case, you might have a good deal but it totally depends on the price they are asking for it. Some cars can go through serious damage without being rated as CAT C or D, especially if the owner decides to pay for the work themselves.
  13. The alignment could be off. I bought a VW Polo from auction for my son as his first car, obviously got a service done straightaway and a full check. Turned out the alignment was off. I got the alignment done and nearly wrapped myself round a tree because the steering was completely changed and got much lighter
  14. On my 2005 RX300 the front bushes were changed under warranty. RX400H the warranty wasn't used. RX450H warranty wasn't used. And IS300H I'm going to use the warranty for 2 bubbling wheels on the same side (not a manufacturing issue, the car was bought second hand and they've been refurbished). It's under 3 years old so thy should cover it especially since I've had it for less than a year
  15. The service prices are on the expensive side but it's theoretically cheaper to get a service plan. Although the prices are the same you'll get additional benefits such as 10% off parts, free loan car, one free full valet each year and a monthly wash if you want one as well as other bits like free puncture repairs for the family although this depends on the dealer. You can also pay monthly interest free with service plans and prices won't go up for the duration of the plan. I believe the 60k service is £745. Also, yes the parts are mostly from Toyota. There are some bits which aren't and some cars have their own parts. The 2 for 1 "offer" has been going on for almost 3 years so don't worry, you can get it at any time!
  16. The newer Lexus vehicles are all also much more reliable than the IS220d though and TBH the IS220d is probably the only car Id take a warranty on in the Lexus lineup. Ive had 3 Lexus vehicles now, covered over 200k miles in them (altogether) without a single issue outside of the standard 3 year warranty period
  17. Which 4x4 is this? The engine is only shared with the GS-F and is a derivative from the IS-F. AFAIK its not in any other vehicles in the Lexus lineup
  18. Glad to hear that most of it is sorted. Yes the software is probably from back when the car was actually released as the production cars get updated with the new software every 6-12 months or so
  19. That's what I assume too so it's on the side it should be for LHD. It is a Toyota after all though so they have to make cost savings somewhere and it got 5 stars did it not? So one might say it doesn't make a huge difference
  20. Nothing to really worry about - I think the reason for that is because the driver side is more likely to get hit by oncoming traffic.
  21. Sounds about right. Just go for the cheapest one, insurance companies are all as crap as each other in the event of a claim anyway. The hire car will be supplied by Lexus if you get them to fix your car in the event of an accident anyway and itll be billed to the insurance company.
  22. Generally I wouldn't touch any car that's been through floods. Id presume if it's been through flooding then warranty would be expired
  23. The nature of diesel and petrol is a matter of perspective. Im sure most on this forum would agree that diesel engines are unrefined and unworthy of being in a luxury car
  24. I think the best trim for you would probably be the Luxury or Advance. Take a look at some in your budget and don't worry if they have slightly higher mileage, these things are bulletproof
  25. The logical thing to do would be call breakdown assistance, get the car towed to Lexus and let them sort it out if its not working.
