  1. Im afraid to say, I dont think youll get anywhere with your claim. Jenny Shipley at Lexus UK is bang on the money with her response - its part of the suspension design. Its designed with a slight negative camber which results in inner wear. It happens on BMW as well as some of their cars have aggressive negative camber. You can adjust it so much which will ensure you change tyres at more miles than 6k but the tyres will always wear out due to inner wear rather than full tyre wear.
  2. It does look better recessed but I think the 2015 models came with the matt black plastic which looks worse IMO than the shiny black plastic that used to come before.
  3. Yes sometimes there are discrepancies between the comparison website prices and going directly. This could be due to commission taken by comparison websites acting as a broker etc. When going through comparison websites, its worth checking the details inputted by yourself after it redirects to the insurers website. Ive almost always had to correct some details which the comparison websites put in wrongly e.g. when it says "any incidents in the last 5 years" but the insurer only wants the past 3 years etc. Number of children is a common one that gets converted to 0 when going through comparison websites!

  5. Mid range acceleration will be quicker The IS300H can go from 30-50 in 3s and 50-70mph in 4.3s. Don't rely on the 0-62mph test results on hybrids, they rarely show what they're capable of. For reference, a Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid with 410hp manages 0-60mph in 5.5s yet 30-50mph is 3s (exactly the same as the IS300h) and 50-70mph is actually slower at 4.6s. Impressive huh?
  6. Nope no option on the F-Sport for the wiper defreezer! Ive never used it TBH but was surprised it wasnt there "for that one occasion when it needs using!"
  7. Sounds about right. I used my own repairer which was Lexus Bradford's - RRG bodyshop in Bolton. They collected the car and dropped it off after repairs. All work was warranted for 2 years (Plenty of time to find any faults) and parts were new and genuine (goes without saying really). They changed the whole front bumper and fender. The insurance repairers wanted to "repair" the fender and replace the bumper. Basically - go for the cheapest insurer and then use your own repairers when it comes to it - worked for me. Its illegal for an insurance company to refuse. The whole industry uses Audatex. The images are not your responsibility - just get the car towed to Lexus via their breakdown, they'll take the images and send them to their own bodyshop - you don't really have to do anything.
  8. Yes, enough space for humans in the back of the IS250 but if you're 6 ft 4 you're going to struggle in it as it feels smaller. GS450h is probably better though for leg room. IS-F only has 4 seats btw.
  9. Well tbf the GS250 is pretty good. The only issue is that you get more tax and less fuel economy. Its much heavier than the IS250 too so needs revving hard if you need to make a quick getaway. The GS450H, especially the new one is very fast. It's rated at 5.9s but it feels closer to 5s dead The post 2012 one is bulletproof. Haven't heard of a single problem in terms of the hybrid system on them Also if you're very careful, you'll get around 35mpg in the GS450h. With the GS250 you'll be lucky to get 25mpg
  10. I always thought Chris Harris was great, especially his online reviews. Just says it how it is! Its getting better already, Evans has stepped down!
  11. I would personally go for the GS450h and here is why: Cheaper on tax and fuel - depending on mileage driven it may or may not cover the difference. The GS450h also gets the rear wheel steering on the F-Sport models which is WELL worth it but again, depends on the model you go for. The GS450h has a true Jekyll and Hyde character - goes like stink when you floor it and when you lay off its eerily quiet. The Instant torque from the electric motors is a huge bonus too.
  12. So after watching every single episode: 1) It started off poorly 2) It got much better throughout which was expected anyway 3) Chris Evans annoys me alot - he keeps shouting 4) Matt has been pretty good IMO and I wouldn't mind if they sacked Chris evans and just had MLB doing it all 5) Chris Harris is great, Sabine OK although can be annoying sometimes and Rory is too Blue Peter for me. Jordan is average, not bad, not great either 6) Star in a car is way too long - there should be a lot more car content rather than that crap!

    Tyres

As always the best thing to do to minimize the possibility of wheel scratches is to get the tyre fitter to inspect the wheel beforehand. Then, agree that the wheels are without any scratches before getting the tyres fitted. Therefore, they can't wriggle out of it and can't claim that "they were already there"
  14. Yep, that sounds about right - it shouldn't move much at all as it'll do 350 miles atleast with ease on one tank Very weird though, the cruising range sometimes goes down slower than the ODO is going up especially if you go on a long drive.
  15. 30mpg is about right though it defo depends on driving style. I can get 33-35mpg on long runs at a steady 70mph without cruise control (ruins the mpg but not really sure why). I also keep the car in Sport mode on the motorway. Sounds counterintuitive but get's better mpg on the motorway compared to normal for me You can drive the RX like any other car but it'll take a hit on mpg. If you drive in a relaxed manner it'll push the mpg up. But yes, generally 30mpg is the norm. Depending on mileage the engine will probably loosen up a bit too after about 5-7k miles Also worth keeping note that the RX has a relatively small tank at 62l
  16. There's something wrong. Leak?!! I do about 30mpg mostly and get around 370+ miles from 1 tank. You sure it was half full and not a quarter? Best thing to do - fill the tank up to full. Check the cruising range. Keep track of the mileage and see if it goes down really quick. I.e. ensure the cruising range doesn't go down 3 miles for every mile on the odo
  17. As Bob mentioned - use wheel cleaner (any dedicated wheel cleaner will work), even better if its the acidic "hardcore" wonder wheels stuff. Once thats taken most of the grime off, you should be able to tell whether youre happy with it or not. If not, go for the metal polish and wire wool method. Takes much longer which is why I always try the wheel cleaner method first.
  18. I believe its called something like Oakham Ivory or something, worth googling to see I guess
  19. They should be exactly the same as the IS300h
  20. 19" are probably the biggest you can go and even then, the ride would be awful.
  21. What I mean was that they're specifically designed for a Lexus vehicle rather than for a Toyota
  22. TBF its not a Lexus engine, I think its a Toyota engine pulled from the Avensis which explains it all!
  23. Good man! Yes, I was going to say, dont trust the insurance companies bodyshop.
  24. Not bad damage at all though, all considering. You're not letting the insurance company fix it right?
  25. The car is supposed to do 0-62mph in 8.9s which is on par with the 407 2.7 tdi. TBH I wouldn't be surprised if something's got clogged up, its the least reliable car in the Lexus line up to date. Id probably get Terraclean done, should help alot!
