  1. 124mph. Dont ask how I know. Chassis is stable though, could handle another 50mph easy if the car had a 5.0l or something!
  2. The only way to remove scratches off glass is using a machine polisher and cerium oxide - it produces a LOT of heat so be careful! The paint is soft = easier to mark, nothing to do with durability. Also, the vertical scratches are due to dirt getting caught in the window seals - unavoidable and happens on most if not all cars - doesnt seem to happen on the new models though
  3. Translation of the thread = wash the car before using.....
  4. No it's because the car is corrected with a true polish before pictured with a camera. Don't believe all the hype. If I told you that leather cleaners are not much different to all purpose cleaners would you believe me? No because you've been brainwashed into thinking leather is some kind of super delicate material (which it isn't when it's coated)
  5. The new RX is interesting - goes like stink for its weight and size but still manages a decent 40mpg in my hands!
  6. Is that £395 a year for main dealer from warranty direct? Thats a rip off!! And ill tell you why...... Lexus Main dealer charge £495 for 24 months cover on the CT. This comes with 2 years free roadside assistance which normally costs £125 a year (has all the benefits i.e. personal cover, hire car, accommodation etc). Only caveat is that you have to use Lexus servicing which, if you're going to use anyway, then Lexus Extended Warranty for the CT works out more cost effective
  7. Essentially a tyre with a higher load rating will have a stiffer sidewall, therefore you might feel a harsher ride. There is no benefit to increasing the load rating on these cars, unless you're frequently filling up with VERY heavy items.
  8. This is a render - i.e its just someones ideas of what it could look like The problems I can see so far are that the wheels are from the current CT and they're too big. The blue one shows NX wheels. Id presume the red one is an F-Sport due to its wheels and grill and therefore should have an F sport badge and Black mirror caps. The grill and bonnet have been taken from an RC and the side profile has been taken from the NX and RX. Also, Ive seen actual pictures of the upcoming car - lets just say it looks stunning! Not like this pile of ugly poo!
  9. TBH youre profile is showing as living in Essex. Generally all the Lexus dealers Ive been to down south are pretty crap in comparison to the ones up north. Milton Keynes upwards they get better IMO.
  10. The parking sensors have an audiable tone but not a visual one. You shouldnt need to look at a screen to tell where things are - hence, practice good awareness.
  11. Depends on what you compare it to really - the Q7 does about this albeit its diesel. My RX gets around 34-35mpg but I have a lot more power and it gets used too!
  12. Yes, if the alignment was out it'd be a partial wear issues more commonly. I can only think that the front tyre wasn't actually new when put on, did you check it?
  13. You said "to help give the car a nice shine and protect". The protection is true definitely, the shine or lack of added shine depends on the wax. Something like collinite is pure wax designed not to add anything to the paint in terms of shine, whereas your show waxes etc are often loaded with gloss enhancers and fillers to help with that
  14. I just messed with the equaliser. TBH the ML and 8 speaker system with subwoofer don't sound that much different with equaliser set properly. Certainly not enough to warrant the cost. TBH It sounds pretty much the same as ML in my RX
  15. Don't really need to tbh. I've been on an ungritted steep hill in the RX with summer tyres on.
  16. No you don't. Wax is protection, it doesn't add anything to the paint apart from a slick feeling surface and protection. That's unless the wax is loaded with gloss enhancers and fillers A polished car will look shinier than before. If you stick a wax on a banger the paint wont look any better
  17. Hello, Yes you can use the 12500/1 year service routine if you do high mileage. The price of the service itself is exactly the same although id recommend getting a service plan if you're keeping the car long as it beats inflation and its monthly interest free (of course you can put this in your business expenses as well as its classed as car maintenance). Just book the car in once 12500 miles has been done, or 1 year and tell them that you'll be doing the services at 12500 miles/1year from then onwards.
  18. Clay bars dont polish lol! Id be using something like Autoglym super resin polish first to check its not just oxidation (which should be removed easily). Its suitable on all paint types. Dont worry if you see blue colour on the pad being used, if its a colour without clear coat then it will leave the oxidised blue paint on the pad. If its not touching it, you'll need something like Meguiars ultimate compound.
  19. A new tank of fuel mixed with 2 stroke oil should sort it out (providing its one where you mix the 2 stroke oil with the petrol!). It makes sense as the manual in my ride on mower, brush cutter and small petrol lawnmower all say to remove the petrol and empty the tank before storing for a long time.
  20. I dont know why you'd need to know where speed cameras are? Surely just drive at the speed limit or look out for them?!
  21. Agreed, doesn't need updating every 6 months or even a year. TBH my RX has 2012 maps on it and its worked every time. Roads don't really get changed very often
  22. Dealers usually give between £500 and £1000 off unless they really want to get rid of it.
  23. Agreed with this ^^ Turnover of petrol is low in the UK in the first place, relatively speaking of course. If you go for Premium, thats even lower. I wouldn't be surprised if Shell V power has been in the tank for a few weeks and it does "go off" so to speak. I found out with my ride on mower. I used to brim the tank which would let it cut about 4 times. It then sat after each cut for 2 weeks and started smoking and shuddering. I fill the tank up more regularly and with lower amounts and its much better
  24. Surely that depends on the spec and the type of car you get? If its a low end version, it won't have cruise control or electric folding mirrors. There are plenty of cars that dont have a spare wheel nowadays and hard suspension, MPG is dependent on the driver and conditions. Also, getting in and out of the driving seat is going to be difficult in any car that sits low. I wouldnt buy a Maserati Gran Turismo and complain that it was too noisy, unreliable and pointlessly fast to the point where I couldnt use the power would I?.......
  25. My RX did this for a while - turned out to be dodgy fuel. I can only describe the car as "shivering". Petrol stays around longer in the tanks due to the obsession with diesel and you wont believe how quick it goes off. Thats why petrol cars drive better immediately after filling up
