Company Car - Own Limited Company
rayaans replied to RichyRich's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Not really. Lets say an IS300H was £30k when bought with 80% business use and 20% personal use. Due to its emissions it goes into the 18% main rate pool. 0.18 x 30k = £5400 Take out personal use so 0.8 x 5400 = 4320 Then you take out £5400 from the cars value = 24600 (this figure is used next calendar year as the value of the car) With the £4320, it'll get taken out of your income, so essentially, you dont pay tax on the £4320 I believe, after the value of the car dips below 15k the accountant keeps nagging me to change my car as he cant claim anything back. Ive been doing this for years, thought it was common knowledge! Anyhow, the new Volvo XC90 is seriously enticing me, especially the T8 hybrid, I can claim 100% back in the first year, then just sell it in the second year and actually make a profit! lol Oh and should also mention that you can write down 18% each year for as long as you own the car considering its over a certain value, I think that value is £15k but will probably have to check. -

You should be able to get it for £20k or pretty close. They usually give between £500 - 1000 depending on how much they want to get rid -

Brilliant choice - its a great car if you're doing low mileages. I liked it when I test drove it, I have a 300h but its only because its the wife's car and the budget meant buying 2 years old. Generally the condition of the car depends on its status in the showroom. If its a demonstrator for everyone to use i.e. it just sits on the lot and gets driven and given out for test drives and as a loan vehicle, then its probably quite filthy. The reason being that people drive them like they stole it, it goes out on 24h test drives and there's little time to get it washed (dealerships usually only have a few loaner vehicles available so they are in high demand) If its a company demo, i.e. a sales manager car which only goes around on accompanied test drives, its usually in much much better nick. For £24k its an absolute bargain for what you get! -
Hmm odd, I thought they started using Google Maps now? They do on the virtual cockpit versions I think.

Would you buy a ct200h with 80-100k miles, 13 plate onwards?

Interesting - the Silver one in Yorkshire? Its a local car, seen it plenty of times and driven carefully as well :) -
I'd be looking at the Luxury ones. They have a lot less mileage and more kit too. Only a few K more but well worth it

The dealer doesnt know what he's talking about. Defo doesnt have F-Sport seats, they're just the standard SE ones. I believe they are also manual and not electric. Seems to be missing the Lexus floor mats And nope, it doesnt have the parking sensors at the front or back but seems to have a reversing camera. Be aware that the centre console looks to be in a really bad state. The plastic has a lot of scratches on it. The MOT history suggests that all 4 tyres were quite low so check those to make sure they arent completely gone! Its quite an interesting advert. Claims its a "limited edition" and a "one off spec" - very interesting.

Nothing to do with the "Paint Quality" im afraid. Lexus Paint is extremely high quality, its also wet sanded by hand (takes the pure mick to do BTW). They also tend to layer it on slightly thicker going on by the readings. Now the issue you mention is to do with softness of the paint. This is generally due to the removal of lead based paints from the industry which provided that hardness. Lexus paint is soft, but that has its own benefits i.e. its easier to sort light scratches out. If you look at something like a 2016 Golf R, you'll notice, especially on the Lapiz Blue that its buttery soft. The bird issue is not a problem with Lexus paint but it happens on all paints. You need to get the bird poo off within 1-2 hours MAX. Its not actually the chemicals in the bird poo that etches the paint, but in fact, its the liquid poo which contracts whilst it solidifies. My best analogy would be the classic concrete paint and hot tyres! Also, wax wont help much with bird poo, it'll take it right off. You need a good quality sealant or coating.

How many of you good people............

It generally depends on the mini roundabout. There's some right small roundabouts here and the car won't go around it meaning I would have to reverse in order not to drive over the kerb and therefore I just drive over it. -
Agreed but generally a high mileage motorway car will have tonnes of stone chips on the front including the glass. Interior wise the car actually looks fine but paintwork is too hard to tell in photos and ideally needs to be seen in sunny conditions The SE doesn't even get parking sensors does it? Well worth having IMO as the extremities of the IS are very difficult to judge and lifesavers in heavy traffic

Tbh no. Reason being is not mechanical but cosmetic. It's going to have some serious wear cosmetically Also you'll have a hard time shifting it in the future

Perhaps should have clarified. What I mean to say is, you're better off getting an ex demo/used car if buying outright when doing low mileages, doesn't really make sense to buy a car for £54k and then drive 17k miles a year to lose £30k does it? Now lets consider that these cars were going for £42k after 6-7 months with 5k miles on them. That was back in 2012. If you sold that same car with 5k + 17k miles on it in 2015 (so 3 years old) you'd probably get £22k p/x so £20k loss in 3 years which is a lot less than £10k/year! Now thats a purely financial viewpoint. The only reason I bring that up is because you wouldn't be asking the question if you were happy with losing £10k a year. Now OFC no discounts have been applied, neither have any Writing down allowances etc for business use so then on it depends on your personal circumstances. I believe the discounts in 2013 were £7k on a new RX. I got 10% off mine in 2012 a month after official release. -
Im sure the original reason was that they have no control as to what direction the Apple and Android versions are heading and therefore they'd prefer to use their own systems.
-
You get a colour off the guy for them or did he just blend it and put it on?
-
It does depend on the car you come from. Our previous C220 CDI had some horrendous lag, not to mention the power used to come in a lump which meant that it'd spin the rear wheels and then run out of puff. Ive hardly noticed much lag in the IS300h in comparison and its much nicer to drive.

Thats great MPG! I cant get over 50mpg. Its the hills and the heavy size 12 foot thats playing against me here!

Sounds like a good P/x offer IMO. Your mileage is low but it won't have a huge swinging factor. It's the age that seems to bring the price down on these cars. Mine has a px value of £20k. It's a year older than yours and more than double the mileage but like I said, the age seems to count more than the mileage Don't forget that PX value is trade value so it's not what your car is worth on the market but what it's worth to the dealer. They'd prob put it on for about £27k. If you're only doing 17k miles in 3 years I'd say buying an expensive car is a waste of money in all honesty -
That's fine, but seems a little daft considering you're extremely likely to kerb the wheel again if you've done it already. Are you going to pay out £84 for each nick you get on the wheel?
-
Go advance spec, I believe it has the leather seats and reversing camera but not the premium nav! Its a good compromise! On a side note, have you thought of going through a broker like Broadspeed and then getting PCP on an IS300h F-Sport specified to your liking from the supplying dealer? They have like £5k off or something on these!
-
Interesting - I only phone once and its sorted. Last time they even picked up my car, dropped a loaner off and brought it back once the job was done!
-
Wow that IS expensive! I didn't pay much more to get the full wheel done!
-
You might be in luck. Lexus have teamed up with Scout GPS link in the US for 2017 models. It's an app on your phone which is a nav system and it can be used with the car essentially giving you another option. Seems to have some interesting features too
