  1. No corrosion on the alloys unless you go used whereby the alloys might have been refurbished (sometimes not to a good enough standard) Be aware that if you go for the F-Sport, its got diamond cut alloys AKA pain in the arse if something goes wrong.
  2. Dont need to drive an IS300h with AVS for 80k miles. Its evident within 2k miles where I live whether AVS makes much of a difference or not. In my opinion, its too small to notice and probably worse in the fact that it gives a harsher ride in Sport+ mode without any serious handling capability. Living in Yorkshire, you get the cobbled roads, super smooth roads and the potholed roads and never once did I say "ooh, you know what, the AVS is making my butt feel rather comfy". Same with the one on the NX, its not much different and certainly not worth the extra cost. I havent played around with the new RX enough yet. Hmm old Lexus demographic huh? Maybe on the basis that Ive driven Lexus for over 200k miles + whatever mileages I put on loaners and test vehicles but considering I cant manage to get over 35mpg in the IS300h, you can be rest assured that I dont drive like a pussy. Ive driven plenty of cars with AVS to know that the one in the IS and NX don't work anywhere to the same level as those in BMW or Audi.
  3. Doesnt work like that anymore. I got 2 majors and a minor, a full valet each year and half price MOT for £1000 first time around when I bought the car. The prices are now fixed so the only way to get a discount is the gold membership if your dealer accepts it. Maximum MOT price people can charge is £54.99 I think but they have haggle room on that. Id be wanting them free. I had to renew my RX one and it came out to £1200 or something. 2 minors and 60k which is the expensive one. I also get a free full valet every year, 10% of parts and free puncture repairs along with either free pick up or a courtesy car. Family is also covered by the puncture repair as well
  4. Main dealer prices are always going to be higher though. Even kwik fit would charge £250 to get it done. Don't know what head office is on about but rattles are covered for 2 years. TBH I haven't been in any car without some form of rattle
  5. Not on a CT but on a Golf - they feel great in terms of handling. I dont know what the Golf would have rode like with normal tyres on though. Id say itll make a little bit of a difference to the ride but not much if any to the handling. Go for them, everyone I know who has them love them!
  6. Its up to you to decide whether you really really need them. If youve been having bad snow around your area and living at the bottom of a hill doesnt help then go for the tyres. However, in my experience, Ive found them to be faf, simply because it has only snowed maybe 1-3 days in a whole year and on those occasions I stick to the main roads with no issues. Im on All season tyres at the moment and they've faired well.
  7. Agreed, my dealer changed my tyres for £10 a corner. I supplied the tyres though but when enquired, their tyre prices seemed very reasonable
  8. Best thing to do is top up the coolant with some water just so it goes between minimum and maximum. Then check to see if it goes down really quickly. Also, check for leaks under the car - essentially, if you see one, put a tub under it and collect the fluid to see what it is.
  9. Well you can test drive the F-Sport and see what you think! The SE-L is smoother but still they're all pretty rough!
  10. The only issue with the GS really is its size. Its massive! Becomes a pain whereas the IS size seems to be more suitable for UK roads.
  11. 1) real world fuel economy will be around 18-20mpg in town and 30-35mpg on the motorway. 2) The GS is much bigger than the IS inside. The rear leg room is great. 3) Nope - these have been bulletproof. Have you considered a 3rd Gen IS250/300H, they have much more space than the IS you have and honestly, there's not much more space in the back of the GS than there is in the new IS?
  12. Renewals suck - Ive only ever renewed a policy once, always seems to be higher than everyone else at the time for some reason. I think they just catch out people who cant be bothered shopping around. You have to understand that there are multiple reasons insurance could go up. Ive found that the price seems to go up slightly after 65 years old (my father's insurance is higher than mine is) and perhaps thats to do with being more risky - having poorer reflexes etc. There's also the postcode! If the number of claims in your area has gone up, then its highly likely your insurance price will also go up come renewal time. Insurance companies also use the make/model of car as well. So lets say an Audi is in Insurance Group 38 and a Lexus in Group 38 also. If the percentage of claims per how many of those cars are insured in the UK is higher it'll make your insurance go up. The insurance company run on a central database which keeps collecting all your info! Also, worth noting that having more than 9 years NCD makes no difference for some companies, some are even going down to 5 years NCD.
  13. Id avoid the F-Sport, it rides like a flint stone car. Awful ride.
  14. Im calling BS on that though - the IS 300H AVS makes barely any difference. The NX has a harsher ride than the IS anyway and thats simply because the suspension is stiffer to accommodate the higher centre of gravity. 37mpg is not bad - you won't be getting much more in a diesel SUV. The way I see it, if you can afford to put down £40k on a car, I can't see how £2k is going to make much difference really and the ones with premium nav seem to hold their value better.
  15. I would try polishing it by hand first as they are painted and then clear coat applied. Its probably just oxidised
  16. If its just adhesive holding it up you just want some adhesive but make sure it's waterproof
  17. All US cars get siri eyes free. The UK doesn't. No markets get app car play
  18. Remove the headrests and it makes the job a lot easier
  19. Yep but its not exactly difficult to use and it can be used by itself as well.
  20. Nilco glass cleaner from B&Q. Its a £5 for 5l. It doesnt work well with MF towels though, TBH no glass cleaner does! Go to Home Bargains or pound stretcher and grab yourself a 35p "Glass Cloth" - works very well in conjunction with the nilco
  21. Its a harder ride than a VW Polo for sure! My son's VW polo has 14" wheels on it and rides better than the CT.
  22. Basically its a compact crossover slotting below the Lexus NX and therefore comparing with the likes of the BMW X1, Audi Q2/3 and Merc GLA class. Official release is September 29th - keep your eyes peeled!
  23. Reload is great! Sometimes I just use it as standalone protection. Spray and buff well!
  24. Its the easiest sealant ive ever used in my life - literally 2 drops on the suede applicator and spread over the panel, boom and wipe off done! not exactly hard
