  1. I dont think so, its certainly never been done before anyway. Be wary of the long push windows - Lexus turned it off as default as they had loads of complaints about customers arriving to a soaking wet car in the morning as all windows had been opened. Worth thinking about if you park your car outside your house at night.
  2. Depends on which trim it is on the GS. I think the Luxury runs the same tyre size all the way around whereas the F-Sport and Premier definitely have different sizes front and back. You can theoretically run the same tyre size all the way around, the only problem is that the rears will have a stretched appearance as the actual alloy wheel is wider than the front alloy. And Id also presume that insurance wont be too pleased.
  3. The reason behind it is that the car can get better grip through the rear tyres which are driven to put all the power down. Its a common setup on RWD cars and has actually made it to some FWD cars (although its the front's which are thicker on these such as the RS3) Although rotation is common practice, its not recommended by tyre companies. Makes sense as well, its better having 2 tyres which are 8mm and 2 on 4mm than all 4 on 4 mm.
  4. We don't do 5k services here, it's pointless. We run on 10k/1 year services so if you're nearing 10k or 1 year since the car was registered, it's time for your first service
  5. Check that you're on the latest software. Mine used to do that until I updated it
  6. TBH I don't see them as a problem unless they are extremely blinding. Cars like my RX have the twin LED bulbs on each side and driving in front of it in the IS, even with dimming mirrors is a headache. No wonder people just move out of the way at night on the motorway
  7. Using a different type of oil can reduce fuel consumption. I believe the RX400h's use 5w-30. Might also be worth checking tyre pressures - too low and they'll lead to more drag and less fuel efficiency. You could also blame the colder weather as it will have an impact (engine needs warming up more)
  8. Go for 6000k if you want the bright white look. The conversion kits are road legal and they will pass MOT no problem. The problem is usually the beam pattern which is set too high/low.
  9. You beat me to it. Actually thinking about it 3k at 70mph does sound excessive. For reference, my son's VW Polo 1.4 holds 3k at 70mph and its a 5 speed manual. Try checking the fuel consumption as well, should give you a vague idea of something being wrong if its too high.
  10. If its tyre noise for definite then different tyres might help but could be the types of roads you go on. For example, I hate going down the A180 near Grimsby as its mostly concrete, really loud! Might also be worth looking into sound deadening options like dynamat or similiar
  11. What year IS250 is it and what trim level? How many miles has it covered? Also what kind of noise are we talking? Is it engine noise, wind noise, tyre roar or something else? Also how many revs is the engine holding at that speed? Sorry to answer your post with a series of questions but we need more info to assist.
  12. Compared to the pre-facelift IS, the same trim levels on the RC have higher spec as standard. For example, the F-Sport gets the AVS and LED headlamps as well as leather seats. The seats and AVS are options and the LED's aren't available whatsoever. However, with the facelift IS, spec will probably become closer between it and the RC. Leather seats will still be an option but not sure on the AVS and LED's on the F-Sport. Of course, the facelift IS also comes with safety system + as standard whereas you need to opt for the Premier and then add ACC on the RC. The IS300h shows kerb weight between 1620-1720kg The RC300h shows 1736 - 1775kg. Its not much of a difference but it will have some of an impact. I think the main issue is probably with the weight distribution. Im sure the IS300h has 50:50 weight distribution (it was in an Alex Wurz video I think) whereas no mention of that in terms of the RC and I highly doubt it anyway.
  13. Hmm my RX300 always wore evenly and I never rotated the tyres. Are the alignment specs right?
  14. Interesting and great to see they have come out in th RX size. I'll definitely consider them after the Latitude Tour HP have worn as they were also great!
  15. Drivetrain is the same but the car is heavy so don't expect the same performance or economy. It's not a car to chuck through the turns either because of its weight whereas the IS can go round slow bends pretty quick!
  16. But see you didn't state that it was underpowered to YOUR preferences. In your first post you just said its massively underpowered and again in your second post on the C250d said its underpowered again. Anyone reading that would think, heck, underpowered compared to what?! A Lambo? definitely. Compared to an IS300h? maybe not. 30 minute test drive? So you took 1 test drive and bought a car after that? Lexus consistently give out 24 hour test drives and no one is stopping you from test driving a car multiple times. Therefore from where I stand, it seems like you bought a car without actually testing it properly and then complain about its short comings. Its pretty obvious how a car drives in 30 minutes if you go well prepared and tell the salesman to shut up for a bit so the "disappointing driving experience" issue you have is caused by your own inability to test the car properly or go back to test it again to make sure. My point isn't about expressing your opinion. Thats fine, and obviously Ive expressed my opinion in contrast to yours, I regularly do so on other sections of the this forum. The problem is you keep banging on about the same old issues but still own the car?! Like I said, if you don't like it no one on this forum is going to say you're opinion is wrong if you move to another brand but banging on about the issues you have with the car, yet still keeping it is a bit of an oxymoron. I still stand firmly by the comments about the 340i and 335d. M Performance parts are just bolt ons and no dealer in his right mind is going to say no to a hand full of £££££. And a 20second autotrader search also brings up a 340i with m performance parts http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201608036440112?keywords=340i&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&model=3 SERIES&make=BMW&sort=price-desc&advertising-location=at_cars&radius=1500&postcode=wf177rs&page=2
  17. Lexus UK are having a big push at making the service prices fixed across all national sites so now, they should be all the same. The benefits of the plan is that the price doesn't go up unless VAT goes up and also, you can pay it monthly interest free rather than paying it upfront. Also, some dealer groups give out certain advantages with the service plan. In my case, RRG group give me a free courtesy car or pick up/drop off of my car when servicing, free puncture repairs for me and any car in my family, 10% off parts and a free full valet each year. Its best to check out what other advantages you gain from getting a service plan from Lexus Sheffield or whichever dealer you plan on going to. As an example, lets use your car with 27k on the clock and annual mileage of 20k. So you can take out a 4 year plan if you wish and as you do 20k per year, you'll need 2 services per year (10k service intervals). Therefore, you will have services from 30k, every 10k up till 100k in those 4 years. So, a service plan will cost you £3260 for all 8 services up to 100k.
  18. And we drive an IS that looks like a catfish :D
  19. What are you even on about?! So a C250d is underpowered? What world do you live in? We traded in a C220 CDI for the IS and it was hardly underpowered, the torque kicks you back into the seat, the C250d is a much more powerful engine and could be argued that its more useable in daily driving where 0-60mph doesnt matter. Bringing up refinement in this debate has no relevance, you clearly stated PERFORMANCE. Again hypocritical - the BMW 340i and 335d are just engine choices, both can be had with whatever performance kit and wheels you want to stick on it. Its very clear that you obviously don't research vehicles before buying them, hence stating "The 340i may have a splendid engine, but it doesn't match the aesthetics of a 335d with the M Performance kit and wheels". Any car guy knows that M Sport trim or M Performance parts are add ons to any engine choice you choose. Appears you have a huge sense of buyers remorse, tell you what, just go sell the IS and buy another car and stop complaining about it. You don't see us on a Merc/Audi/BMW forum slating their products.
  20. Doesn't matter how you drive, you shouldn't be getting outer edge wear. That usually shows there's an alignment problem. It should definitely be doing more than 10k miles. My RX did 28k on one set and probably weighs 1/3 more! Id suggest Uniroyal Rainsport 3 in 215/45 r17 91Y, Dunlop SportMaxx RT2 in 215/45 zr17 91Y or Goodyear Eagle asymmetric 3 in 215/45 r17 91Y. Ive given the EXACT details of the tyres as they have the best ratings. Don't go for the Uniroyal rainsport 3 in 87Y or the other tyres with different load or speed ratings as the above are the optimum tyres from that specific model of tyre.
  21. Now here is the issue: 1) Lexus dont sell anywhere near the amount of cars in the UK as BMW do 2) The general UK population buy cars based on numbers - and lets just say that those numbers are focused around mpg figures and tax 3) Huge diesel market in the UK (the government used to push diesel cars as cleaner, better etc etc). Although my slightly stupid theory relates around how the majority of cars in the UK are manual and petrol's are technically harder to drive i.e. they stall more easily so driving a diesel makes people feel like driving gods. 4) They'd maybe sell 10 IS350's in a year. Not really worth the effort. I dont think they've even sold many IS200t's 5) Even if you look at BMW, the number of petrol 320i/328i/335i/330i/340i are pretty much nothing compared to 320d/330d/335d
  22. Does look very nice up front IMO. Its grown on me quite a lot! Looks garish in press photos but real life photos/videos and BAM, it looks great! Have to say, we probably won't be getting those F-sport branded car mats but it would be interesting to see that interior colour combo! I believe its called Nuance black. Ive also noticed that the gear shifter seems to have metal inserts rather than plastic, similiar to the drive mode select knob.
  23. shouldnt really be an issue in terms of wear and tear - no research suggests that it puts any noticeable strain on components and therefore it should be negligible Whether it saves fuel or not, or even whether it saves a significant amount of fuel is debatable.
  24. 5-10 mins should be fine to keep the car in ready mode without having the engine fire up, especially after driving to work as the hybrid battery should be well charged.
  25. Can't beat the Porsche at the price for the driving experience though. The S2000 doesn't have that much torque, needs proper ragging whereas the Boxster just pulls! Another one I just though of - BMW Z4!
