  1. Its very rare that cars are completely stopped though. rear lights are activated before the brakes are and in creeping/rolling traffic the brake lights will be engaged quite a lot of the time. Thats unless you do one of my main pet peeves and thats just stopping completely and then leaving a 5 car gap before moving forwards and doing the same again. I dont mind putting the footbrake and putting the car into Park if waiting for ages stopped as dead as a bird for 5 minutes but in rolling traffic its just silly. Im pretty sure more people get glare from my headlights than they do from the brake lights anyway and if it was a huge problem, they'd be illegal
  2. Interesting - same colour combo as ours! Im liking the Black grill surround but the roof and mirrors aren't to my tastes unfortunately but hey, its not my car!
  3. The highway code rule 244 also says you should not park partially or wholly on the pavement anywhere in London or anywhere else UNLESS signs permit it. Theoretically possible but practically impossible and no one to enforce most of the highway code anyway
  4. My son passed his test in 2014 but his license expires in 2025! Odd, because mine shows an expiry date of 2035!
  5. The thing is though, every Lexus in the UK is fitted with the same type of leather unless otherwise stated. Therefore the leather in my RX is the same as my IS (TBH it feels exactly the same, just a different colour) and there's no issue with wear on both. My car is mainly driven in town as well and because of the step up, no choice but to rub my backside on the bolster. Put 42k on it and its not a problem. However, I have to say, my wife has longer fingernails than me (im a chronic nailbiter) and she's put some marks on the seat near the seatbelt area near the headrest.
  6. This is how I feel about the situation: 1) In an auto - just touch the brakes unless you're stopping for extended periods. I can't be faffing about with sticking in park, putting parking brake on etc etc at each set of traffic lights I get to 2) In a hybrid, better off going into park rather than neutral otherwise the hybrid battery wont charge 3) Manual - I got taught to stick car into neutral and put parking brake on. And then I started driving and binned the idea for a few reasons. Firstly, it takes the mick when a traffic light only lets about 3 cars through and theres a big queue and everyone is fiddling about with their gears and handbrakes. Also, having driven my first car without using the handbrake at all unless stopped for more than 5 minutes, I can safely say that the clutch didn't go in 90k miles. No idea what happened after I got rid of it but this scaremongering of "OMG your clutch will burn out" is BS. 4) OK so you can dazzle road users behind you - seriously? Im in stop start traffic and hardly anyone uses the parking brake on cars like Audi A7's and A6's etc, basically cars which are likely to be automatic and ive never been dazzled
  7. In theory pretty easy to do. You'll just need the bumper, grills and associated lights etc and just clip it on after removal of the other bits. Might be expensive if using new parts though but cheaper if you get hold of them from a scrap yard ofc
  8. And sometimes it's a PITA. You can see the wires in certain lighting that are embedded into the glass.
  9. Yh America gets Nuluxe artificial leather. We get natural leather Mercedes are using artico which is vinyl and bmw use dakota leather which is real but highly processed hence feels rough and textured as a result. BMW merino is more on par with Lexus leather and let me tell you, they are a PITA to keep looking good
  10. Unfortunately it would be classed as wear and tear I believe UNLESS it's been previously repaired The leather on Lexus vehicles is natural and very soft. The quality of the hide is very good hence why it's delicate. Dont know about you but I thought the jaguar XF leather was fake? it feels like plastic. Should also note that you need to take care of leather especially when it's cream
  11. Ooh I'd be thinking smart repair too. I wouldn't recommend keeping it on short beep either. Keep it on long and you'll have no issues
  12. Nah you can get all exterior colours apart from vanilla mist, sonic white and that brown colour on the F sport. The F Sport exclusive colours are F Sport White and as of mid-2016, Azure Blue The interior choices are white, black or red.
  13. When you select reverse, move the passenger side mirror angle to your preference using the buttons. It should go back to normal when put into drive and each time you hit reverse, it should now go to the new angle
  14. I also use these and had no problems with any of them. They last ages too.
  15. Yes its a feature to stop the windscreen wipers sticking. It won't be able to de-ice the whole windscreen. I believe that the system only turns on for 15 minutes and glass isnt a good conductor, in fact its actually an insulator and therefore unlikely to de-ice the whole windscreen through conduction.
  16. Ive still got Holts de-icer from 2004 - never needed to use it on my cars as they're garaged but my son's car stays outside so it needs plenty!
  17. If you stay logged in using one computer using the "remember me" or something along those lines tickbox then it doesn't keep asking from my experience. Im not getting these advertisement issues though, it loads first time for me?
  18. Nope, engines remain the same. I do believe they've worked on the suspension though so it may or may not be more comfortable
  19. Ah shoot never mind me! I replied to the wrong thread. I thought you'd replied on the F Sport gauges one!!
  20. Or the windscreen! On a brighter note, atleast you didn't find a teenager with a third degree burn on his backside after attempting a steve-o with a rocket. All for £10 he told me!
  21. Yep well known on these, its the non adjustable negative camber. Nothing you can do really, 30k is plenty for the rear tyres anyway. I change the ones on my RX every 25k
  22. It fixed the lack of nav instructions on the F-Sport gauges on my car though so could well fix this. Still its probably better to do it anyway as the latest system has been absolutely flawless so far
  23. Odd, but probably worth a dealer trip. Perhaps a software update would sort that or they might have to stick a new cluster in And yes, it should show the mpg etc on that screen
  24. He doesnt own a MK1 IS, its either a typo and in the wrong section It says IS300h F-Sport on his profile - these have non adjustable negative camber on the rear causing inner wear but its a character of the car, can't be changed.
  25. Its very small but an issue nevertheless. The bulb on the drivers side doorcard has gone - doesn't light up anymore unlike the passenger side doorcard light when opened. Now obviously I need to replace it but anyone know which bulbs go in and specs? UPDATE - im baffled! The passenger side has a holder attached to the lens and a bulb inside it. The driver side has no holder WTF!?! Im assuming its dropped off and gone somewhere but I swear it used to light up before.
