  1. The GS is actually one of the quietest cars in its class according to some figures that have been obtained. The road noise is probably down to the tyres and also, they are probably quite a bit wider than your previous Merc. I believe the GS already has significant noise deadening material in the wheel arches.
  2. Doesn't work like that. You're assuming the battery is always completely charged and the car starts off in EV. In reality, the engine will turn on regardless of battery charge if the engine is cold, which it probably would be.
  3. Depends whether you want to change when the tyres lose grip or just before they become illegal
  4. Sounds completely normal. Engine probably isn't warmed up until you've done around 3 miles.
  5. Depends on how long you intend to park it in the garage for really. Leaving a wet car in the garage for a night and even leaving it for a week before driving isn't going to do any harm. Ive had my current RX garaged for 4 years with no issues and my previous RX garaged for 8 years, again with no problems. The only problem I can think of is sticking parking brakes if it gets cold but just leave the parking brake off and its not an issue
  6. Ideally yes the 400h should be serviced yearly. Low mileage cars are usually used in town and often don't get to optimum temperature which is harder on the engine. You could risk it but I would expect it to be atleast £1-2k cheaper than a car with FSH.
  7. Terraclean is a relatively expensive process but I know a few guys who have had their cars done and they were chuffed with it. Whilst Terraclean will clean out the engine and the EGR valve, it won't do anything for the DPF. Therefore, if you want to make sure its been done, best thing to do is get a DPF regen done or go for a good long drive in a relatively low gear
  8. The standard sat nav is OK - i.e. it will get you from point A to B no problem. Its never let me down. The Premium nav is worth it IMO just because of the extra 2 speakers and the remote touch - I find it much easier to use than the rotary dial that comes with standard nav.
  9. The CLK isn't great on reliability and driving either. Worth a test drive. It doesn't handle all that well and TBH you might be disappointed going from an IS200 which is competent and has heavy steering to going to the CLK with its light steering and wallowy behaviour. Has a tendency to spin its wheels too in all conditions regardless of tyres that you put on.
  10. You can't. Itll speak over everything. You can adjust the volume of the sat nav directions though so make it as loud as possible and you should be OK.
  11. Well, the IS F-Sport didn't come with navigation as standard but there were 2 options Business navigation - £995 and just added a basic navigation setup to the screen and it was controlled using a rotary dial. Premium navigation - £1995 and you got a navigation setup with connected services and traffic along with 2 extra speakers and controlled by the remote touch interface which is the joystick setup
  12. Generally it depends on the model you have. The Luxury and SE have bigger profiles and are less likely to suffer from kerb damage. The F-Sport and Premier get kerbed very easily. Also it depends on where you park and how often you're mounting or unmounting kerbs. If you find yourself parking on the street its worth having as the extremeties of the IS are hard to place and inevitably you will end up kerbing the wheel. However, having said that £495 for 3 years is steep but I dont know the ins and outs of the policy. Do you have to pay an excess for each wheel repair and how many can you have done in the 36 month period? You can also get smart cover repair from Lexus which will sort out the dings and scratches.
  13. Something like FK1000p is probably what you need. "Developed from a West German process called Synthesis FinishKare 1000P is a blend of advanced pure synthetic materials. The result is a paste wax characterized by melting temps. of 250+ degrees, extreme hardness, extreme slickness, high gloss, and intensive wear without the quality fluctuations found in natural waxes. FinishKare 1000P delivers heavy duty resistance to UV, hard water, acid rain, bug spatter, tree sap etc while creating a customer appearance. Excellent for use on all automotive paint, gel coat and metal surfaces including critical aircraft surfaces." The reason I mention it is for the two aspects above that are in bold. I use it and its great for protecting wheels and exhausts so should be fine for headlamps, especially on the inside. Usually wax tends to degrade very quickly when exposed to high temperature.
  14. Only available on the 200t versions i think. It shows the Gs you pull in each direction
  15. I bought my wife's 63 plate in sep 2015 for £23k. Only had 11k on it as well and they did the 2 year service too. white/red and premium nav
  16. Lexus Dealers in the UK will give around £500-1000. However, you may be able to negotiate more at this time of year for 2 reasons: 1) Facelift IS300h coming out next year so they want to shift old stock 2) End of the year is coming as well so they'll want to remove old stock generally to make way for demonstrators in the new year. Independent dealers are generally more eager to haggle depending on how much they want to get rid of the car. The price will also depend on the specification of the car. Cars with leather interior will be more expensive and these 2 don't seem to have leather. The interior shots of the 2 cars are exactly the same as well which is odd, so can't really tell which interior belongs to which car and whether the condition is any good.
  17. Usually you will have about 10L left when the low fuel light comes on. However, I usually fill up around the 50 mile mark on the range - apparently low fuel isn't great for the fuel pump but not sure how true that is for modern cars
  18. For that price you can probably pick up an IS300h F-Sport in the UK but it'll most likely be a high mileage example around 60k+ at this moment.
  19. Have you got the car in eco mode? it turns down AC. also make sure fan is set to atleast medium because soft has an issue. I get really warm at 21 degrees in both RX and IS so if you stick it on high it'd probably get unbearable Seat heaters are programmed to turn down by 1 every few minutes to prevent burns. you have to get the dealer to stop it doing that but they should get pretty toasty.
  20. The ahs should be shuttering parts of the light. If you can visibly see it happening then it's working fine. I wouldn't worry about other drivers. I get flashed all the time in my RX with dipped beam LED lights It's worse in lower cars as the light is at eye level There's no setting to make the strips brighter. I think they dim when driving to avoid distracting you or causing glare
  21. That's some fancy wood there ☺ They don't say "VTEC kicked in yo" for no reason now do they?!
  22. Thats the 3rd Gen RX Steve! I believe the OP has just bought himself a shiny 4th Gen with all the toys! Anyways - when the panoramic view monitor turns on next time you are traveling below 6mph, check on the bottom left side and click the AUTO button. This will stop it coming on under 6mph. Same applies to all other cameras. Essentially if Auto is turned on, it will respond to vehicle speed (6mph) and shift position (P, N, D or R) For reference - http://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/omnav-s/OM48E92U/pdf/OM48E92U.pdf Page 269 onwards
  23. It'll strip paint off no problem. Not on normal paint with no damage but around stone chips and scratches. Ask me how I know haha I made a 2 inch scratch on my wife's old merc into a 7 inch one 😂
  24. 1) Yes it can be muted. Go on setup > Navigation and it should be there 2) No, the music won't mute or quieten when the voice guidance is being played. 3) No setting for that either
  25. Nah pressure test won't make it worse at all. If a pressure test is OK, most likely water pump is on its way out. No point changing both of them together.
