  1. Doesn't work well with the CT. It handles better but it's harsh. The facelift CT Advance model has harder suspension than my RX F Sport and IS F Sport. The RX handles about the same as the CT but the IS will run rings around it. I find it very odd and can only assume it's down to the short wheelbase
  2. Premier has more kit - LED headlights, Mark Levinson to name a few. I find the F-Sport to be pretty harsh in the CT.
  3. The current F-Sport CT is harder than the pre-facelift SE-L thats for sure. Id probably go for a Premier TBH.
  4. Thats a silly idea. 1) the new VED is going to be used for repairing public roads. If you only have new car purchase tax (which already exists BTW and is called VAT), not only is the price of the car going to go up meaning less people buy new cars and hence government dont make any VAT, but also, there won't be any "running" tax year on year which means revenue will go down. 2) Price of fuel in the UK is already atrocious. Much of the price we pay is tax. Adding more duty onto fuel means more expense for anyone who travels and busineses who pay for fuel. But again, I dont think they can generate enough income from it. Take a Ford Fiesta which will now be on £140 a year from April. If driving 10k per year, with an MPG of 50, you need 200 gallons of fuel per year so about 900L. To make £140 per year off fuel, you need to raise the price of fuel by 15p which is ridiculous really as its already so high. The whole idea is that C02 has nearly been taken out of the equation is because currently, everyone buys eco cars which are peanuts to tax per year and hence reduced revenue to a point where it makes it unsustainable. The most popular car in the UK is the Ford Fiesta - generating £140 from them will probably generate the same amount as it currently does with all cars combined.
  5. Sounds about right. Mine is £753 but its a multicar policy. RX on 10k + business use and IS is on 5k SDP + commuting. I have one claim as well from last year £2300! The price actually went down for us this year lol.
  6. Might be the speed as well - they seem to do very good economy at 70mph but it plummets when going over!
  7. The Michelin Cross climates IMO are the best all season tyres bar none. They really do work, Ive had first hand experience on a Golf and they were very good in the snow. However, as with all things, there's a cost to benefit ratio worth thinking about and the price lets them down at this point in time. Nope not an engineer here, in the other end of the spectrum - NHS! There shouldn't really be an issue unless its severely over or under inflated, we're talking 10psi each way from the manufacturer recommendations. Tyre pressure is highly variable. 32 psi on a normal day is 28psi on a cold day. 32psi on a motorway drive is going to be between 36-38 psi. There are too many variables to take into account and hence a tyre pressure check isn't accurate enough for an insurance company to bother about unless, as mentioned before, its up to 10psi in either direction. Im not saying they won't try to do it though..... they're notorious for making up things. Most policies say that the car has to be in roadworthy condition. I.e, it has to have tyres over 1.6mm and of the same type and ratings as the manufacturer standard. They don't specify anything about tyre pressures in policies.
  8. The tyres already have a load rating on them and the standard RX400h tyres were not XL rated so you dont need them. Essentially, all the XL rating allows for manufacturers to fit narrower tyres with a lower profile. Itll just make the RX ride rougher with no significant benefit to handling. Probably not worth it at that price. Also you can stray away from the manufacturer tyre pressures. Demo vehicles are consistently pumped on 40+psi. And AFAIK, as long as you don't under-inflate a tyre significantly below manufacturer or go over the tyre wall maximum PSI (usually about 44-50psi) its not much of a problem
  9. Sounds normal. My RX300 was only doing about 16mpg most of the time apart from on a run against an advertised 23mpg. Ive had most luck in my son's 10 year old Polo. Advertised mpg is 44 and it gets 40mpg in my hands.
  10. Yep thats the one we have but it was bought used so didn't have an option of blue/red as they're extremely rare.
  11. Id stick with the usual brands tbh - no point trying something not many people tend to go for and then being disappointed. Especially for £20-30 a corner its not worth it.
  12. What? Wheel arch corrosion recall?! How they going to fix that then?
  13. Thats a heck of a colour combo - superman FTW! Seems you'll save a handsome chunk on tax as well!
  14. That must be rare! Although chances are its more common than seeing an orange RCF! Ive seen 3 on the road so far. Blue, red and White! I loved the red one tbh, blues not bad either!
  15. No thats a good point. Ive been told the car was serviced when it hadnt been once. Only really found out when I took the car home and asked for the service checklist and they said there was no record Turns out that they actually did the service the first time but the technician forgot to sign it off on the system, and then they redid the service just to make sure
  16. Nothing worth worrying about. Probably just a recall or something. Ive also got that now that Ive checked my wifes reg. Its new because it wasnt there before. I'll wait for a letter as they usually take some time to come through
  17. They seem to do an OK job of protecting but as mentioned already they look awful when kerbed. Some have flinged off and damaged cars as well. Id probably say kerb the wheels and just get them refurbed.
  18. Most likely someone has gone overboard with Autosmart Berry Blast I only use one quick spray but some valeters do one spray in each footwell and its seriously overpowering.
  19. No, you cancel it and park the car yourself and keep the keys. Chances are that your car will get ragged and they'll forget to not engage the parking brake.
  20. Misaligned tyres can be caused by bumps and potholes, nothing to worry about, just get it re-aligned. It would have shown up on the service visual checklist as inner edge wear. Bet the owner didnt keep it.
  21. I believe they take all the stock that Lexus Leicester dont want/need
  22. Manufacturers aren't stupid. They'll offer bigger discounts (enough to cover tax for 5 years for £40k+ cars I presume) or shift around the pricing to accommodate the new tax system The whole scheme actually makes quite a lot of sense in terms of revenue. People were buying cars predominantly based on emissions to pay less tax. Once enough people jumped on the bandwagon, the revenue goes down and a new scheme is brought out to pull revenue back up again. Take into account that 25% off all new cars dont pay any tax whatsoever and you'll see what I mean. Hmm gives me an excuse to buy a 1-2 year old GS-F registered in April 2017 and pay less tax than I would currently :P
  23. The NX premier and F-Sport run on the same brand and type of tyres. The difference in size is marginal, width is more of a problem in cars than length is. 1.5" is barely anything, remember that this is a total of whats been added on both sides, not just stuck onto one!
  24. Id be more concerned about the exterior and interior condition of the car rather than mechanical bits
  25. Basically yes. First service at 10k/1 year is intermediate and second at 20k/2 years is Full. The 60k and 100k ones are more expensive though as they do other bits not included in Full service.
