Lexus IS300h rear wheel losing grip
rayaans replied to Sazabi2001's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Its not BHP you need to worry about. Its the torque. The IS300h has instant torque so in slippery conditions, you can cause it to slip very slightly until the traction control kicks in Also, I would say its probably the size of the tyre. The higher trim levels have 255's on the rear which are better for outright grip. Its also worth remembering its been extremely cold, therefore the tyre compound is going to be harder and provide less grip anyway. Below 7 degrees they tend to go harder and you might consider getting winter tyres which would help. -

Should go without saying but please make sure you clean the leather first! -
RX450h premium problems

Yeah thats what I meant - had a typo saying 62L! Both 3RX and 4RX have 65L tanks. I think my cruising range is about 25 miles and then starts showing Low fuel. At that point I fill up and I can only fit 47-52L in. Mine albeit a 3RX seems to show a maximum of 340-350 miles on a full tank but goes down really slow at first i.e. 1 mile after every 5 miles or so. -
Yep, they'll clean the car Im pretty sure they'll hand you a bottle of wine/champagne for inconvenience sake as well. They've given me 3 so far for my RX300!

Id probably be more careful with it next time. If you rush the job, its going to take twice as long removing all the bits! Or you could just stick to a liquid sealant like Dodo Juice supernatural leather sealant! -
Yep its financially cheaper to not rush them then!

I disagree. I personally think cars should be failed for tyres, lights and wipers. Most cars between 3-4 years old dont have lights, wiper or tyre issues. Its the older cars where this is more of a problem but there has to be a cut off somewhere and I think about 3 years is right. The funding for police is already quite low and random checks would waste a lot of time. Instead, I think there should be a system which they use for number plates whereby if they stop you and you have a light out, they hand you a letter to get it fixed within the next 7 days otherwise they fine £60.

The F-Sport leather seats are not an issue. Ive heard more complaints about the fabric seats on the F-Sport as they're not vinyl and seem to mark easily on those bits. Its beneficial for you're delivery date to be after 1st April depending on how long you keep the car. £500 first year + £140 thereafter works out cheaper if you have your car 4 years compared to £300 first year + £210 thereafter. If keeping 3 years, it makes about £60 difference so not a huge amount to worry about.

Choosing my first IS 300H
rayaans replied to newtolexus2017's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Most german cars have the option of having standard suspension on their sport trims The only issue when buying them used is that you never know if they have that or not as the dealers generally suck at listing them -
£140 for 5 years is less than £2k for seats. Generally depends on if you want the leather seats or not as they'll cost you £1500 instead of £2k Can't really complain much though, its going to happen if it happens.

Real World MPG Figures
rayaans replied to Stuart Aspey's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Welcome to the world of real world MPG! Sounds about normal. You want to be accelerating rather swiftly. Slow acceleration leads to more use of petrol. Ideally you also want to maintain momentum through turns, roundabouts and gain speed when going down hills to pull you back up the other side without putting your foot on the accelerator pedal. Easier said than done! Low mileages are going to kill MPG as the car takes a while to warm up. Anything below 10 miles and you won't go above 40mpg. -
Leather conditioner stuck in ventilated seats
rayaans replied to peachy's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Oh dear the dreaded leather conditioner mistake. In future use less and apply onto the non-perforated parts of the leather first, that way you dont get loads of it inside the holes. Ive been using the gliptone conditioner in this way and had no issues But, as to how to sort the damn thing, the toothpick method is your best bet. Contrary to popular belief, heating it is just going to make it softer and stickier - think chewing gum. Ideally you'd want to freeze it but I doubt that'll be good for the leather and hence, better get picking! -
Choosing my first IS 300H
rayaans replied to newtolexus2017's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
1) No, the age of the car won't make a difference and being only 3 years old, unlikely to have issues. The F-Sport variants also hold their value better from my experience than others in the range. 2) Depends on what you have now. You need to take an extended test drive and decide. Its certainly not rough by any means. 3) None - these are generally bulletproof. 4) Depends on what you fancy doing. Park at the opposite end of the entrance and its unlikely a car will come near you. You could also try the notorious two space takeover if you so wish but I doub't you'd get any more scratches or dings than any other car would 22k miles on a 3 year old car is fine. Ours is a 63 plate and only has 13k on it. -
RX450h premium problems

The one in the Ford is right annoying. At night you can see the wires due to oncoming lights from cars and also in bright sunlight. I believe they're a PITA to sort out if you happen to crack the windscreen and some insurance companies are saying the excess of approx £70 for a new screen applies to standard screens only. Tank is 62L on 3RX and 4RX. It should be getting roughly 400-500 miles per tank but the cruising range is very cautious. When it shows low fuel, Ive still only managed to fit around 47L in -
I dont think the new VED is going to make much difference in all honesty. People with more than £40k to spend on a car have £450 a year to spend on road tax. I dont think itll make much difference to cars less than £40k as I reckon they'll just start adding greater discounts on them.

The lag on all the current hybrids is pretty much exactly the same which would suggest its probably been built in. TBH I would say its saved me a couple of times at traffic lights behind those plonkers who don't move off until 2 seconds after a green light and the ones who stall. Cant remember the lag to be as bad on a 400h. It was there on my 300 but I think that was more the gearbox being a bit hesitant sometimes.

It'll probably have to reach Lexus reliability standards first. They'll test their version so much it'll be around 2020 before it makes it on Lexus models -

Worth pointing out that software updates don't happen overnight either so it'll take a while. They'll be coming out circa 1 year after any incidents have been noted and logged -
The CT is being replaced by the UX soon anyway

Should be coming. It's a worldwide recall Doesnt mean that it happens, it only happens in certain occasions such as when removing the seat belt -

Because ford has the patent for heated windscreens and I don't believe Lexus has been given permission to use it. The MPG is never going to hit claimed mpg. That's with all cars, not just the RX
