  1. They definitely suit the car very wheel. Look exquisite! I also like the IS in that colour - but hey, Im biased!
  2. Worth searching for these things on the forum. This topic has been extensively discussed. However, to answer your question, the general consensus is that they last long enough to not bother about. It's highly unlikely to have a battery failure. There's a greater chance of someone getting hit by a car (no really, it's true)
  3. I think you can use mirror link on the 4RX so it'd be from the phone but haven't tried it. No option on the 3RX though. It works in the IS but some users can't get it to work, not sure why. However, I would say that the standard nav is fine anyway for getting you about
  4. Rear wheel arch corrosion apparently
  5. The 0-62mph values are incorrect as well. In the UK both cars are measured at 5.9s 0-62mph so there's no difference whatsoever on paper.
  6. All IS F-Sport seats are foam injected. You shouldn't have an issue with F-Sport seat wear TBH, seems to affect the other models in the lineup and particularly beige seats rather than the black/grey ones.
  7. Id presume they take the deposit though...?
  8. Not exactly in your hands though unless you change spec
  9. Essentially, what you need to know is the 4th gen GS450h feels about the same as the 3rd gen in terms of performance Its also better insulated and the rear wheel steering on the 4th gen is something surreal. Lane changes on the motorway feel like they're from another dimension. The interior quality of the gen 4 is much improved but something to note is that the F-Sport is moderately firm compared to the 3GS so its worth a test drive. The 4GS and 3GS had identical 0-62mph times in the UK but the 4GS is certainly better in every way including driving dynamics.
  10. Yep its a dealer job. Most likely it hasn't deployed as the impact wasn't hard enough and therefore showing that message. I would assume it just needs a reset.
  11. Its not actually that high riding. Its lower than a normal SUV anyway. Seems to be like a GLA height.
  12. Is it an amber exclamation mark with a half circle around it? Could be the tyre pressure monitoring system
  13. I think the flashing white light is a bit of a problem. The DRL's on my RX are separate from the indicator bulb. My DRL's don't dim when the indicators are on. I think the dimming thing is more a feature of car manufacturers choosing to wire the bulbs in series which would cause them to go dim when the indicator bulb is on rather than wiring them in parallel. I think the main thing would be to disconnect the indicator feature on the DRLs. If they're a constant white light, I think that should be fine and you should have no issues with the police. I definitely think that DRLs are safer, especially in mucky weather.
  14. I think the main issues with these are seized calipers and some cars seem to suffer from carbon build up. There are a few minor things like corroding alloy wheels, but mechanically, these things are as good as you get but Id strongly recommend going for an IS250 Auto rather than the manual. The issue with the receipts is a personal one. Some owners keep them, some don't, its just how it is. If the car has been serviced at a Lexus dealer, the record of what has/hasnt been done should be with them anyway but if its been done at a local independent, its likely that it was a cash in hand job with no receipt given or just a little piece of paper with a price written on it which wouldn't be that useful. I would say, as long as the condition of the car reflects the mileage, it drives well and its got a decent MOT history without anything unusual then its probably a good bet.
  15. Also worth bearing in mind that the government is now looking into MOT tests to detect presence of a DPF. Currently its just a visual check and 9/10 they wont spot a removed one. It seems to be a thing where people just chuck the DPF out if they have multiple problems with it but it won't be possible any longer once these tests come out! All for the better I say.
  16. Yep as mentioned already, the inverter problem seems to be an extremely rare thing. Its more likely you'll suffer from binding brakes or something like that. However, having said that - the Lexus Extended warranty is very comprehensive and should cover it (worth checking beforehand though) and should be thought about if you're worried. Covers a lot of other things as well so one thing goes wrong and its paid for itself
  17. Ive seen some pictures of a prototype of the UX. Its been toned down quite a bit from that but still looks similiar. The interior looks spot on IMO.
  18. Thats true. Definitely worth getting in and out of both the RX and GS to make sure which one is better for you. You could also go for the 3IS250/300h as they are the same as the GS in terms of step in height.
  19. Depends on the dealer really. My dealers are pretty good - have all the equipment as well including a body drier. They've always done a great job on both my cars and no scratches or durability issues with my waxes/sealants either. TBF they've been given 1.5 hour slots per car so plenty of time really.
  20. Dont blame you Its easier to get a decent wife than a decent IS-F nowadays
  21. If you do decide to take the locking nuts off, make sure you tell the insurance company. Some are very picky about them whilst others are reasonable. Id be sticking with OEM ones if going for locking wheel nuts as they're not badly priced at all. BTW it might be cheaper to go to a Toyota dealer. The nuts are exactly the same. Torque should be 76 ft-lbs
  22. Im pretty sure my parents used to put me in the boot
  23. I think the MPG that @Glover has been getting is certainly achievable. The only problem I have is that my journeys are too short - 2 miles to work, 2 miles to 1 house, 2 miles to another house, 3 miles to another. Therefore the car doesn't get chance to warm up fully. Ive achieved good MPG on a run however. It gets about 33-35mpg at motorway speeds which I think is OK for a 2 tonne bohemoth! The seats in the GS are very low as well. I believe they lowered the hip point on them for a sportier feel. The noise when braking is due to regenerative brakes charging up the battery. You soon get used to it but it does sound odd at first. Ive never dropped below 27mpg though which I guess is good, especially since my 2RX did 16mpg!
  24. You'd probably get the same or better with the RX. Remember that it weighs roughly the same as an LC and its also a 3.5l Petrol engine, not a diesel. the RX is more refined than a discovery. They dont even come close to the refinement in the RX so worth bearing in mind.
  25. ^^ dont know what he's talking about but the RX is certainly relaxing to drive. I believe the hybrids tend to warm up slightly quicker due to exhaust heat recovery. I tend to go to work which is 2 miles away and takes 10 minutes (I do home visits so I drive the car much more than just the 2 miles). The car is not fully warm but its not far off and I regularly get 27-28mpg in the winter. In the summer that does creep up to about 32mpg and more if on a long run. The GS sits low, at about the same height as your current car so I doubt that'd itd make it easier to get into.
