  1. So you've put the belt into the seat and then put the buckle into the clasp? THEN have you pulled it all the way out and let it retract until the seat is locked into place? It shouldn't be moving after that.
  2. Ah shoot, it was all going so well! You didn't mount them like that did you? Cross Climates are all seasons, Sport Max are summer tyres - don't want any insurance problems now do we?
  3. The release date is October 2015. Major map updates come out yearly and takes a year to collate the information. This means its actually an October 2014 map.
  4. Black looks great when its clean and the sun is out (which we don't get in the UK!) I see you also have the sunroof! A rare option here as we never get any sun!
  5. Have you driven the CVT rather than read about it? I find a lot of owners don't really notice it once they drive the car rather than read the countless reviews. TBH the CVT is smoother than the boxes in the RX300 and RX350 which has slight hesitancy in certain situations
  6. Well sometimes you pay for the privilege of not having a diesel engine. TBH diesels don't do much more. My brother in law has a new Q7 and manages 35mpg and I've test driven the Volvo XC90 which got bang on 31mpg The car is expensive to purchase anyway and I don't really fuss about mpg as its a very small amount compared to depreciation. Not to mention that fuel goes in expenses for me so hardly an issue
  7. I have seen pictures of the prototype UX and IMO its a bit of a stunner really. Its definitely polarising but nowhere near as rash looking as the concept vehicle and I quite liked it. Seems to be slightly bigger than the CT but its on a raised platform, similiar to the Merc GLA In Australia, Lexus have trademarked the UX200, UX250 and UX250h. The UX200 and UX250 will be 4 pot engines, unlikely to be turbocharged and Im not really sure whether we would get them here in the UK. The UX250h is something new as the moniker hasn't been used yet so that suggests an all new hybrid powertrain. I believe it may have lithium ion batteries and is part of the new hybrid range that Toyota is bringing out. Expect about 150-180hp from it.
  8. On a side note, you can force it to lock. Do this by pulling the seatbelt all the way out after fastening the clip into the holder. Then slowly let it go and it'll reel back in locking itself.
  9. The sat nav will be a plug in unit that the examiner just carries around and plugs into the 12V port. Im sure they'll also have it charged up before any potential tests. Ive got to say, I never got taught about roundabouts, parallel parking or reversing into a car parking space and I can drive my big RX fairly comfortably. It just takes year of practice to master - and now, because everyone is trying to save some money and go on public transport, they don't get anywhere near as much as they should! I think I did 150k in 2 years in my Ford Fiesta after I passed :D
  10. The RC-F and GS-F sales are also limited by Lexus themselves. They want to keep it exclusive and hence, only 200 odd GS-F's coming to the UK each year. On a side note, the ES is not coming to the UK. No market for that car here. It was extensively discussed but so far, no plans to bring it here as it would cannibalize sales of the IS or GS. The UX is certainly coming though and replacing the CT.
  11. Postcode entry is on the second page on both premium and business navigation All IS300h's have a combined 220hp. Some sites only list the engine output which is 178hp. Exec doesnt have the premium nav so you miss out on 2 speakers which make a big difference, connected services and traffic info as well as reversing camera. Id go for an F-Sport with more mileage on it TBH. It doesn't have to be local, buy it if you like the pictures, when it arrives inspect it, if you're not happy send it back
  12. Very nice, same colour as mine. I presume they sorted out the dirt and the marks?
  13. Mine is a 3RX and yep, 35mpg at 70mph. If I remember correctly though, it was on the M62 which had a large downhill section. But even still, I regularly get about 33mpg even when pushing on a bit. Sport mode was added to the facelift post-2012 RX's
  14. Sounds normal. Seatbelts are supposed to restrict sudden movement, for example, in collisions but are not designed to hold the passengers in place - Hence, you can move forwards and backwards in the seat without suffocating.
  15. Which is the best option from those? Thats an extremely tricky question to ask as opinions will vary based on what people have owned! Nevertheless, I will kindly impart my advice upon you and it is: Find any of those mentioned in your budget, in good condition and with a comprehensive history and I doubt you'd go wrong.
  16. Yes you can retrofit a reversing camera - however, it won't have guidelines and will basically just show you whats behind you. It all depends on how much you value guidelines. If you are buying from a Lexus dealer, they can do it and Id get it built into the deal if so. Ultimately you would have to make a decision as to whether you prefer the executive edition or the Luxury spec. The premium Nav available on the luxury models has 2 more speakers and offers a much better sound than the 6 speaker in the executive so bare this in mind when purchasing. It also comes with the reversing camera as standard. I would say yes, it is harder to judge distances in the IS compared to something like the RX anyway. I regularly drive my RX and find it harder to judge where the front of the IS is as the bonnet just seems to go off into the distance. The wheels on the IS at the back also stick out further than the front ones do (including the wheel arches) so you can sometimes end up parking the car a bit wonky when parallel parking
  17. Hi Steven, Congrats on your purchase. Id take all reviews with a pinch of salt to be honest. There are plenty of reviews saying the NX rides rough and makes alot of noise when accelerating. IMO it is completely and utterly hogwash and the ride on the NX is better than the German equivalents. The noise is also only apparent if you're regularly doing 0-62mph runs. Now I believe you're probably not one of those people and hence it should be fine. I strongly recommend you watch @HRinacar's review. Its been posted on this forum by the man himself but does give a much more "honest" opinion compared to some of the drivel written by so called motor journalists
  18. It is worth remembering though that the hybrid system is not great on the motorway anyway. Its mainly built for stop/start city traffic and low speeds. At 70mph, the RX (well the 3RXh anyway) will just be a 3.5l petrol engine lugging around hybrid components and batteries without any use apart from perhaps instant torque and charging up the battery each time you coast. I think the 4RX has had its motors modified to maintain motorway speed using the hybrid system.
  19. I believe one particular owner made a custom anti-glare plastic screen and put it over the top with good results. I dont think the coating itself can be added on though. If you want it to look uniform, the best thing is to just remove it (be patient, it takes ages)
  20. Parallel parking is already included as an examinable skill but many instructors don't assess it for lack of time on the current test. I suppose the prolongation of independent driving from 10 to 20 mins may include it as a compulsory measure as there should be plenty of time. The show me,tell me questions are different. The instructors will basically say - "show me how to turn on the rear window demister" or "tell me what this button does". Now I can't see why they've removed 3 point turn. I don't think ive ever reversed around the corner but surely multi-point turn in the road is a good skill to have. Reversing out of a parking space IMO is probably not needed. If you can parallel park or do a 3 point turn with ease, you can surely reverse out of a parking space!
  21. So how do we feel about this guys? From what I can tell, the changes are: Removal of reversing around the corner and turning around the road (AKA 3 point turn) Candidates now follow a sat nav route instead of the instructor giving instructions Show me, tell me questions are asked whilst the candidate is driving Independent driving time increased from 10 minutes to 20 minutes Addition of reversing from a car parking space Discuss!
  22. Anti-glare coating coming off. Yes, happens on all IS and RC models. Its a very thin coating and will come off with damp microfiber use over time. Not really needed either - I just took the whole thing off with some ammonia free glass cleaner (loaded with IPA) and its not made any difference to glare but it sure does look much much better
  23. Mine is almost always in Sport mode. However, the 35mpg on the motorway was in normal mode. Ive found it doesn't make much difference in MPG between ECO and normal and therefore find ECO a bit of a farce, especially as it ruins the power delivery I also don't use EV mode as to me, it seems to raise MPG for a bit, then runs out of battery and results in a bigger drop in MPG. My driving style also appears different to yours. I try to keep momentum, hence I find myself accelerating down hills and gaining enough momentum to pull me up without any use of the accelerator (not always possible I know). Ive also found it better for MPG to floor it to the desired speed and just hold it there. I live in Yorkshire so hills are a huge problem for me but I dont think Im doing too bad all considering. I think the MPG would be much better if I did longer trips and had flat ground
  24. Not bad at all though really for a 2 tonne SUV My son's 2006 VW Polo 1.4 is barely getting 37mpg in winter. Only has 75hp and weighs 1 tonne lol, its reasonably peppy due to its gearing but hardly quick! I tend to get a bit more on motorway trips than you though, I get roughly 35mpg at 70mph but Ive found cruise control seems to make MPG worse. My tyres are on 37psi all around. Not taking depreciation into account, his car is costing me more to run than mine especially since the road tax is £185 on the Polo
  25. We should be getting a letter but from experience, it can take anywhere from a few weeks to 6 months for them to roll out. The thing I dont understand is - Lexus made a big deal about the wheel arches being rolled inwards or something and the whole point was to stop corrosion?!
