  1. You're comparing rabbits to dolphins here. Surely the GS is going to hold the road better than an RX - It weighs significantly less and has a lower centre of gravity.
  2. Its all relative. When doing low mileages, the engine is warming up for a longer proportion of the journey, hence lower fuel economy than expected. Yes I know the IS250 Manual is £500 per year. I was referring to the 3rd Gen IS250 which may be a better option for you as they're significantly cheaper to buy all things taken into account and only £260 more to tax per year. All depends on how long you want to keep the car and whether the tax and extra fuel cost will cost more in the long run.
  3. I run mine on 37psi. Ive noticed a 2-3mpg drop when its on 33psi and frankly, the sidewalls look somewhat flat when they're at that pressure. I blieve the tyre sidewall info will be max pressure of 40-44psi so you should be fine regardless of what to use.
  4. Its pretty inobtrusive. The only thing was that the car felt like it was jumping from side to side in lanes when the lane keep assist was on the maximum setting. But ofc this is adjustable and can be turned off if required. Doesnt seem to be an issue on the lowest setting. It has a speed limit recognition on the facelift but it doesnt really bother you. The adaptive cruise control works well but the distance has to be set to the shortest setting otherwise its too far away and people jump in and cause the car to slow down to maintain the distance. No issues with collision detection but only driven the car for 30 mins
  5. Completely agree with you Ed! My RX is pushing on 5 years old this June and its not needed an alignment. It runs straight and there is no pulling. I regularly - well as regularly as I can be bothered to - check the tyres (every 1k mile roughly) just for any early signs of inner/outer edge wear. Same thing with the RX300 I had before. It was 8 years old and I only got it aligned once but that was genuinely due to outer edge wear. My wife's Merc was also aligned towards the end of a 10 year ownership after some outer edge wear. Only 7 months ago, I bought my 21 year old his first car from auction - a 2006 VW Polo. As it was bought from auction I decided I should get it fully checked out and went to my local indy who advised new tyres and 4 wheel alignment due to inner edge wear. Now this was on a 10 year old car. On a side note - his rear tyres need replacing and turns out Kwik Fit mobile fitting is cheapest. I'll give them a go I think as the car likely needs replacing in the summer (he's already bored of it and its rather basic - no remote central locking or Traction control but worst of all, it plays CDs and has no USB/aux input!!)
  6. If you're driving 16 miles each day and city driving, I don't think you would get 45mpg. Itll be more like 35mpg. The 3rd gen IS250 isn't on £500 per year. Its £295 F-Sport/Premier or £270 for the luxury.
  7. I have actually driven a demo now and its not enough to make much of a difference. Feels pretty much the same IMO.
  8. The SP270s are rubbish in all conditions apart from in summer though They slip with 5mm on them in the wet. Haven't had any of that since I changed
  9. The Alfa Guilietta is a money pit and its genuinely a car that you buy for the looks and nothing else - speaking from experience! It doesn't do anything well at all apart from looking good on the drive. Cross the Nissan Juke off the list - if I stop one person from buying one, I'll be content - I get all Richard Hammond when I see them. How about a MINI Clubman? Take the run flats off and its quite good.
  10. Cost of depreciation will be incorporated into HP anyway so would always work out more, on most occasions, more than the difference between buying the car outright and selling it on when you want to. If you're doing 10k miles per year I dont think the IS300h will actually save you much in terms of fuel cost over a year Id be tempted to take a look at the 3rd generation IS250 as they can be bought for significantly less than an IS300h and most have less miles on them too.
  11. Would be interesting to see some before and afters once it arrives, especially on light leather
  12. Interesting. The lights look great imo. The wheels are exactly the same. The shade is probably due to light differences or perhaps the 2016 having had refurbs
  13. Might seem odd but surely it's cheaper to run the IS250 than buy a newer car? The parts and servicing on these aren't exactly cheap and it's likely you might need to replace something or other on a high mileage car even if it's just rubber bushings but labour adds up. The only reason I mention it it's because you say you're looking to save fuel and tax, in which case a CT200H might be a better option or just keeping the IS250. The mpg on these are extremely variable and spending ££££ will see improved mpg and also increased depreciation. Don't go buying one thinking it'll be cheaper than your IS250. Once you've got that out of the way, you may proceed
  14. That's for 2016 models. The car in the photo is on 15 plate. Graphite black was first introduced on the RX which started on 65 plates. Either way, celestial looks better regardless. The gold flake looks better than the silver in graphite
  15. They clean better without damaging the top coating etc. The coating itself has a grain to it and some cleaners just aren't strong enough to get the dirt out of these grains.
  16. A 2010 with 24k on the clock is going to show much more wear than a 2010 with 160k on the clock. The low mileage suggests to me that someone has been going for short trips and therefore been getting in and out of the car more often than someone who drives alot. Getting in and out is what causes bolster wear, not being seated for an extended period of time. On a side note, it is nearly 7 years old now so will show some wear. An example I like to use is the Super Sport seats covered in Nappa leather in Audi's. Frankly ridiculous how they wear - 2-3 years and they're shot. Are the cracks actually cracks in the leather? i.e. has it split apart? If not, its likely that the grain/fold has just got dirt entrapped in it. Im not a fan of the gliptone leather cleaner - it has no cleaning performance whatsoever. The conditioner on the other hand is great. Products like the Gliptone leather cleaner and Autoglym leather cleaner are very poor compared to others on the market like Dr leather and Dodo Juice
  17. I believe the RC is getting a facelift soon and an update to its interior to bring it more in line with the facelifted IS. Most likely they'll add more options on the F-Sport model such as the Premier pack which would include the BSM etc
  18. My car is on M+S tyres. Snow mode does help though - seems to reduce slip somewhat.
  19. Too dark to be Graphite. Looks like Celestial black to me
  20. Ive always found Tesco Standard Unleaded and Diesel to be poor quality This is from my own observations but my wife's C220 CDI was mainly run on BP diesel (Purely out of convenience as our area is predominantly a BP area). Anyway, it was fine. We put one tank of tesco diesel in as the local BP was being refurbished and noticed a drop in MPG, response and the RPMs would shiver around 3k. I thought heck, this must just be a bad batch of fuel so run the car on BP again for the next 2 fills at which point it was fine and went to Tesco again to test it out. Exact same issue - the Merc just didnt like it. At this point I was filling up with Tesco standard unleaded in my RX300 and it ran fine (or what I presumed to be fine). Thats until I had this issue with the Merc that I started using BP standard unleaded in the RX to see if there was a difference. Turned out that the RPMs dropped by 0.5-1k and economy was also improved. I swear the RX300 made a nicer purr as well running on BP
  21. Ive only been down some boggy country lanes and its been fine for me. I tend to stick the car in SNOW mode before attempting boggy fields though. Seems to work fairly well.
  22. No its not accessible from underneath. Its all sealed up underneath if you take a look. Its not a hard job to do, its just a bit of an effort to actually do it!
  23. The highest depreciation is in the first year. If you look on the Lexus Used section - Lexus Liverpool is selling a CT200h Sport with only 3k on it for £18.5k. Bare in mind, that car will also have £500-1k worth of discount to be had on it so final purchase price would be £17.5-18k. If the dealer gives you top book trade offer, they'll be making £2k which is their usual margin
  24. You would need W5W/T10/194 bulbs in cool white. Getting to the bulb is fairly tricky. You'll have to move the mirror using the buttons all the way up. Then stick your finger underneath and give it a solid pull and the glass should come away. There'll be 4 screws behind the glass which needs removing. Remove the claws that hold the glass and then remove the cover.
  25. That's a good result in the end then. Yes comparison sites will vary depending on how much commission they are taking etc so worth checking all of them to be sure. Thats how the industry works Im afraid. They give you an inflated renewal to try and grab money from those who forget or those who can't be bothered changing
