  1. The advance was a run out model which had the F Sport bumper and choice of pan roof or sunroof as standard. I think they also had ML. The rest was the same as Luxury spec. The F Sport is technically a higher model as it has the HUD which was unavailable on the advance. The F Sport has a slightly stiffer ride but doesn't wallow as much in the corners so worth considering that. The Luxury and F Sports seem to be the pick of the ranges depending on what you desire as there are more of them than the others.
  2. Not really many issues with these to be honest and those that do happen tend to be bad luck! With your budget, I presume you'll be going for the facelift model? There wasn't much change over the years from 2012 when the facelift came out until 2015 when the 4th Gen RX came out so I would always say go for an older one as the price will be better. If it has decent mileage, then even better. The main thing to look for on these is the wear and tear. Being an SUV, tends to attract families and some examples are real dogs. My RX F-Sport with ML and Tracker sold for £23500 at a dealer and it was in better condition than some 1 year old ones they had. Mine was a 2012 with 46k miles so I would expect a Premier with all the toys would be roughly around the same price with slightly more mileage on it provided its a 2012. The Premier model has air suspension. It could prove costly in the future if you're not going for the Lexus Extended Warranty but I am yet to hear these fail on the 450h. It seems to be a common problem on the 400h however. I would probably go with an F-Sport, Advance or Luxury and give the Premier a miss. It doesn't really have much more than the luxury for how much extra it is either.
  3. I recall the terminals can be loose on the cars. Worth checking that out first. Battery may be fine but if terminals are loose, then it could cause the issues you're having
  4. I would advise getting in touch with Fred Goodwin - the centre manager at Lexus Bradford and Stockport. Very reasonable guy and should get you a 3 hour test drive if not a 24 hour test drive. Just explain to him whats happened and TBH Im surprised they asked the sales manager rather than the centre manager in the first instance.
  5. Ive used Lexus Bradford since 2004 (when I bought my RX300) and they've had hiccups along the way. Used to be WMG group which dwindled and died until RRG took over and things got better. They were giving good service discounts i.e. £300 off 3 year service plans until Lexus UK forced them to stop doing so and I believe this is happening across the country now. In terms of sales, they're hit and miss - totally depends on who you end up talking to and have recently had a huge change in Sales managers Lucy has been around for a while so worth talking to her. Not sure if Lee is still around, I saw him a few weeks ago but not since then. I would strongly suggest you pick out a vehicle you like on the forecourt, ask for a test drive, start talking figures......and then ask for an extended test drive, seems more serious that way.
  6. Lease companies usually stick their vehicles in an auction. The majority go through BCA. The good ones are usually picked up by dealers and then find their way onto the forecourt with a £2-4k inflated price depending on the value of the car. Private buyers can participate and in some ways have an advantage i.e a private buyers usually pay private rates at auction if they want to keep the car which is more than a dealer would be willing to pay as they would have reduced profits. Although saying that, sometimes the dealers hike the price up anyway. Looking at the state of most leased vehicles, they don't seem to get the best care - many are used hard and some have service contracts with Kwik Fit etc.
  7. Just checked the service book and it is indeed at 60k mile intervals ONLY and is not time based.
  8. Shouldn't it be £675 according to the website? Or have they increased their prices again? I usually get half price MOT at £27 from Lexus Bradford. I wonder if that carries across or only if paying for the normal service plan
  9. I believe it depends on the dealer. Many do offer 24 hour or even 3 day test drives It's a case of asking around
  10. Yes that's normally true because of things like brake fluid needing to be changed every 2 years or so. With spark plugs it's a bit different in that they don't decay over time unlike brake fluid which gains moisture from the surroundings
  11. How much was the essential care service quote? Its not on the website at the moment but I presume it would be the same, if not slightly less than the IS250 essential prices. I believe the Iridium spark plugs are £15+ ex VAT so that would be £70-80 alone. Rest is labour The Full 60k service has Spark Plug change included and is £595 If the Essential care major service is indeed £345, then it'd still cost £495 with spark plug change so would still be £100 cheaper overall. Thanks for the feedback and I initially thought it was mileage based anyway but wanted to make sure
  12. Carplan no1 supergloss tends to sheet rather than bead - might be up your street.
  13. So my wife's IS300h will be 6 years old in September 2019. As the service plan will run out next year, I was thinking of getting the Essential Care Services done instead of the full Lexus Service as I see no difference between them apart from the Major at 6 years/60k which includes spark plug change. The thing is, my wife only drives 2-3k per year so the car only has 15k miles on it despite being 4 years old. Would I need to get the spark plugs changed when the car is 6 years old? It would only have roughly 21k miles on it. Are spark plugs only mileage dependent? She prefers to keep her cars for a long time so just wondering if the spark plugs are worth doing at that point.
  14. Its OK but doesn't look very tight. This is Sonax BSD and PNS: Both with extremely grabby surfaces compared to a wax for example.
  15. Having a slick surface ensures sheeting but beading is caused by contact angle. Grabby surfaces like Sonax BSD or PNS increase the angle to get tighter and tall beads
  16. Why do you want a slick feeling surface? Grabby surfaces bead better.
  17. The IS300h is only RWD and yes, whilst the quality in the IS300h is good, the GS is undoubtedly better as its supposed to be in the class above The reason for the GS250 being in short supply is that they were only available for a limited time but mainly down to the fuel economy and tax rates. Therefore, business users were more likely to go for the GS450h. Also being a petrol engine in a large car, it does need to be revved quite hard to get it to go whereas diesels tend to have a more laid back, lazy character which everyone is pretty much used to now. Before I bought my 2012 RX450H, I was actually going to order the GS250 F-Sport in Arctic Pearl with red leather, ML and sunroof. I believe the list price was £42k but they offered me it for £37k as they were having trouble shifting units (and this was in August 2012, I believe the GS250 came out in March time)
  18. And that was just a quick browse. I have done some more browsing and looked at the car in detail now. Few things I have noticed from before. 1) the front bumper looks remarkably free of stone chips. Check the paintwork for any problems as I suspect it may have been resprayed. To not have stone chips on Velvet black (the only black available on the GS F-Sport at the time) is soft and would have a few stonechips at those miles. 2) Tyres are Uniroyal Rainsports - good choice! I certainly approve 3) There is a parking permit in the windscreen - take a good look around the car for any door dents etc and look around the corners of each bumper for poor repairs after scrapes Not a huge problem as they can be fixed but atleast you won't regret spotting anything odd. 4) I believe there is some misinformation. The only option on this particular F-Sport was the ML sound system which is 17 speakers, not 18. Additionally, I believe the rear sunshade and blind spot monitor were standard fitment. Probably worth just sending a message on ebay or texting.
  19. My brother in law had his B7 Audi RS4's seats stolen (apparently the bucket seats are big money). Since then, he's also had his Porsche Macan S, Audi Q7 and 911 taken in the first year of ownership - never recovered. Obviously insurance company bought a new car each time as it was within the 1st year but hell, VAG seems to go like hotcakes, especially when parked outside.
  20. Yep. probably doesn't need 2 vents otherwise Im sure they'd have been fitted
  21. Pics or it didn't happen. Have to say though, after testing both the LC500h was more drive-able day to day due to its low down torque which the LC500 somewhat lacks. However, given the choice, it'd be an LC500 for me - the noise is just sonorous and I can imagine being a hooligan in one (actually, on test I was a hooligan in one and I believe the salesman crapped himself) so its probably best if I dont get one. Maybe one day when the kids get older but heck, it'll be a good 13 years before that happens
  22. The car itself looks good and it is clearly evident that the car has been well looked after, for example, only being washed by the owners and having a towel under the baby seat. The baby seat would be the main concern so I would be taking a look under it to see if there are any indentations/rips in the leather, and also if there are kick marks on the back of the passenger seat. Apart from that it looks good and is a fair price. I would buy it at asking price if it is as described - if you get a deal, even better. I would expect the owner to give you it for £14k. Depreciation is hardly a worry on a £14k vehicle. They won't lose value anywhere near as fast as things over £20k. Parts may be expensive as I believe some of the GS parts are GS only and unavailable from Toyota for a cheaper price ie Toyota will sell you parts at same price as Lexus for some items. However, I wouldn't expect it to be any more expensive than an IS250 for example. GS450h cost more to begin with and £1-2k will be dealer mark up. It also held its value better being a vehicle with good performance and cheap tax.
  23. Nope cannot be done. The temp display will always remain unless you turn AC off. The direction of air travel will only be removed in AUTO. Is there a particular reason why this bothers you? Just wondering thats all.
  24. They usually do reformat to full capacity and then die completely. I had this happen with a microSD card
