RC F Brake Pads
rayaans replied to Soperman's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
If that is the case, then ECP are selling front pads for £85 and rears for £30. I dont doubt you could get them cheaper by sticking in an ECP discount code or copy and pasting the product code into carparts4less. -
In theory yes, a ceramic coating probably would have helped but then Ive heard of instances where bird poo etches the coating giving the same effect. Wax is usually quickly degraded by bird droppings and its not uncommon to see a fully waxed car with a bare, non-beading spot where the bird has evacuated its material. My son's Golf actually had Meguiars #16 on it at the time of the first dropping, and Sonax BSD on the second. Additionally, the car is cheap on the grand scale of things (less than £3.5k). Is it worth sticking a coating on? Probably not, just in terms of preparation etc. I've taught him how to decontaminate and seal the car, that should suffice for now, especially since it picks up a new ding or some sort of damage every week from others whilst the car is parked.

Unleaded Fuel which one and is expensive worth it!!
rayaans replied to Whites's topic in Lexus CT 200h Club
Maybe there is a difference between BP Ultimate and Tesco petrol but I haven't noticed any difference between BP Ultimate and BP standard in my own cars. Having said that, it made a difference in my sons VW Golf which runs a lot smoother - eerily so on 97 ron+ fuels -
Now, most of us on the Lexus Owners Club are proud of our cars and love to keep them looking clean. However, birds are not so keen on this and regularly evacuate their acidic (and sometimes seedy) excrement all over our paintwork. Anyway, Ive been doing this trick for a while now and I thought some of you guys who live close to the shore, near the seagulls or just happen to find your car covered in bird poo on a morning would find it useful. Now, the test vehicle - my son's MK5 VW Golf in Black Magic Pearl and the result of his hospital placement in Scarborough: Yes, after a quick wash, it appears that seagulls have left their trace permanently on the paintwork. The first picture actually has scratches in it, no fault of the seagulls but my son knowing he should wipe it off quickly decided to wipe off rock hard poo, leaving scratches in the process. Tools needed Bog standard hairdryer Mild polish - Autoglym SRP, Autosmart Mirror Image - something along the lines of that Applicator MF cloth Method Essentially, the idea is to heat up the paintwork but not get it too hot. That's why I use a hairdryer and not a heat gun. If the bird poo is fairly recent i.e. up to 1 week old like the one in the second picture, it'll be removed in 1-3 minutes of heat exposure without the use of a polish. If over that time, in my sons case, the 1st picture was over 1 month old, it may help but won't remove bird poo etching completely. and here are the results - bear in mind this method works only if the bird poo is fairly recent i.e up to 1 week old! Above - the original etching was over 1 month old. It has been improved but catches the light in certain angles. However, it is a massive improvement from the dull, scratched look earlier. This required heating with a hairdryer and 2 hits of Autosmart Mirror Image to get to this level. Above - the original bird poo etching was 1 week old. It was COMPLETELY removed during the process whereby it was heated with a hairdryer only. No polish was applied. It cannot be seen in any angle, in any light, no matter what the circumstances. Hope it helps! Let me know what you think.

Bought a DA kit.....advice required.
rayaans replied to Verbout's topic in Lexus Car Care & Detailing
Its very pad dependent. Which kit did you specifically go for? Was it a meguiars kit or something else? In essence, you want to start off with Meguiars 205 and the softest pad you have. Move to the firmer pad if its not working. Then, if that doesn't work, use the 105 on the softest pad and try again. Then, once you've done the polishing, refine back down using Meguiars 205 and the softest pad. -
Standard valve cap are these: They match the colour of the valves themselves. In terms of white worm, yes, better get it sorted sooner than later. One of my friends had the Monza wheels on his MK6 GTI - very common problem on those and it went from being pristine to white like the picture above in the space of a few months

RC F Brake Pads
rayaans replied to Soperman's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Maybe but then ceramic brakes are expensive anyway - even to have as an option! -
Thats flipping white worm. Warranty claim for sure and won't polish out. leave it long enough and this happens: Also whats with the non standard valve caps?

No paddles on the 3RX. and yes, all 3RX with rear cameras will have moving lines. Most of the time, dealers don't prefer one over another. Simple reason is that if they get a p/x, it may be so long before they can sell and it during this time the car has to be insured on the forecourt and will depreciate. TBH if I was a dealer, I would prefer a straight cash deal as there aren't any loose ends

Cant seem to edit my previous post - but here's the second part of the compilation That reversing incident was a bit weird - guy shook his head as if he wasnt in the wrong

So does it actually polish up or not? If it does polish up, more likely to be acid etching or similiar. If it doesn't more likely to be aluminium oxidation as Martin says

How much were they out of interest? -
I drove one a while back. Wasn't impressed at all. The drivetrain combination is nowhere near as smooth as in the IS or GS - you can tell when its switching from engine to battery. Additionally, the steering is awful and the interior quality leaves a lot to be desired. I wouldn't consider one over the equivalent Lexus that's for sure. I can't work out how they managed to make the boot so small too. Its like a 3rd gen GS sized boot. New GS/ES will be coming out next year btw

Pub question

The problem with the comparison is that BMW use turbos whereas Lexus are typically naturally aspirated. Having said that, the latest 3.5l engines from Lexus are pretty impressive for NA units, 311hp in 2018 GS350. The 3.5l Twin Turbo in the LS500 is a force to be reckoned with - 414hp and 600NM of torque, more torque than the BMW M4 but 10 less hp. I'm sure lexus have tuned it conservatively for reliability too Drop that engine into an IS with a few tweaks and youll have an ISF -

Petrol obviously. Faster in a straight line, cleaner, sounds better, can rev the guts out if it and no dpf to worry about. Diesel is for lazy drivers. Those who don't understand the concept of clutch control and how not to stall -

Lexus Paint Protector

The WILIAMS Ceramic Coating is supposed to be quite good. The synthetic one though is not as good. Which one was put on? Usually dealer will put a sticker somewhere. They dont tend to last as long though as dealers never put the prep in, just wash the car and slap it on- 42 replies

Yes it could be causing a shimmy. On a side note, not very helpful but the word just reminds me of this: -
New owner questions
rayaans replied to First_Lexus's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
To test whether it doesn't indeed have the dipping function. 1) Put the vehicle into reverse. Lower the mirror to what you want it to be when reversing. 2) Put the car in Drive - if it has dipping mirrors, it should go back to the position that it was on before.- 19 replies

1) I believe the Sport spec doesn't have that function. The dipping mirrors are only available if you have memory seats which is only available on F-Sport with Premier pack or on the Premier trim. This is because if there's no memory function, the mirrors don't know which position to go back to. 2) The Parking pack is a dealer fitted option and doesn't come from the factory. Therefore, its not connected to the central screen in any way so you will only hear audible beeps. The Luxury and above grades come with factory fitted parking sensors which feed to the central screen. 3) no idea on DAB, don't use it much as FM sounds better to my ears.- 19 replies
