  1. They usually stick them in a hard to find fusebox Having said that, if they do try to nick your car, they'll probably know exactly where the fuse boxes are and that a tracker may be fitted hence you may find your with carpets lifted up and ripped out etc
  2. Maybe thats true - but Lexus Stockport seem very keyed up on the F cars too - its a shame they don't get too many in though.
  3. Dont know why I can't edit my post but anyway - I rang Admiral who "applied a full discount" to get the price down to £1066 for both vehicles. As soon as I got that on email - Chris Knott were given a ring and they said they'll do it for £1000 altogether with same excesses. Seen as though I have a free weekend - Admiral is getting called tomorrow to see if they can match it so I dont have the hassle of supplying copies of each quote, driving license (both paper and counterpart), License checks etc. If not, Chris Knott it is - the policy itself is with Equity Red Star - never heard of them but I claimed on the IS when wife went into garage door in 2015 and they were nothing short of exemplary - my wife's car was fixed in a week at a repair centre of my choice and I didn't actually pay any excesses!
  4. Update - Surprise surprise, Admiral renewal came through today. For some reason they said I paid £871 last year - which I didn't - i paid exactly £756 + £63 to change my car over mid term. Their renewal quote is £1401 - almost double what I paid last year. Im going to ring and see how they justify that because AFAIK the IPT only went up by 2% since the last time I bought insurance so a 40% hike? BS!
  5. Brilliant looking car - my son was looking for an IS-F but having just turned 22 and with only 1 year NCD (only been driving a year) insurance isn't in his favour so I think he'll be looking at a Golf GTI or similiar until he can justify the insurance! Lexus Cheltenham baffle me - the salesman are nice enough - although the retail manager doesn't come across as very nice but their knowledge is lacking and the prep of the vehicles is certainly not up to par as other Lexus dealers. For example - Azure blue was only introduced recently in 2015 with the arrival of the RC-F. This particular IS-F is Ultra Blue for a start!
  6. The new 1.5l Golf is a brilliant vehicle though. More accomplished in every area than a CT IMO and the engine is painfully efficient but goes well too.
  7. Also worth remembering that Lexus do a paint protection film for the rear as well so you could get one of those if you wanted and they should keep it scratch free
  8. Its because Admiral has an auto-renew system. Some people forget and end up paying hundreds more. I also always ring and they take it down by atleast £100. On a side note, Chris Knott said they can beat both quotes for the RX and IS and match the excesses. So its £675 for the RX and £530 for the IS at the minute. I did say my renewal hasn't come through yet and I expect it to be around the £800-900 mark. They said they'll beat it if they can justify the quote.
  9. Yes there is a facelift on the cards and will be shown later next year and probably available to order by October 2018. It'll have revised bumpers and lights but the interior will be changed to include the 10.3inch screen and inset centre console
  10. I dont either - but yes, its normal. You have to press back to get rid of it each time you start the car up
  11. Just get the black plastic one if you really need it. However, we've had the IS for 2 years now and mainly used for shopping and school run. It doesn't readily get scratches on the bumper unless you're being really careless as it has a lip so you can't just drag across it
  12. They did show up on the comparison sites but were still about £900 and they won't insure the IS for some reason.
  13. Seems like you're getting above average MPG for the 200t then I had one as a loaner for 3 days as I needed the IS300h servicing, MOT, full valet, recall and a bulb sorting out (they couldnt find the holder so had to take door panel off). It only just got 27mpg. Wasn't hugely impressed by the acceleration though, didn't feel much faster than a 300h in the mid-range and had a lag from a standstill at the traffic lights - dont know if youve felt this?
  14. No there isn't yet. And no warranty issues. Pano roof is working fine here, rear door seals are all intact etc. And mine is supposedly the 2nd non-demo RX F-Sport to come in the UK from what the dealer said.
  15. The default setting isnt available on the new system. @Finzky - the behaviour you describe is completely normal. The only way you can have the radio showing up on startup is if you use the split screen option on the right under the A/C shortcut button. However, you will still have to go to Menu > Media if you want to click a station.
  16. Having said that though, I just re-read your post and the bulb going off and coming back on is odd. Bulbs usually blow completely, they wont turn off and then on again. Perhaps there is a loose connection somewhere - would certainly be the case if the car has been scraped or had bodywork done recently.....
  17. I'll give them a go. I still need to ring Chris Knot as well. I was with them for 2 years until 2015 - both cars until their underwriters changed and hiked the prices up. Will give them a ring on Thurs. As it stands - £698 for the RX450h from Privilege. Excess £600. And £572 for the IS300h from Aviva with £550 excess so about £1270 in total. Thats over £400 more than I paid last year. I'll have to wait for the renewal is well - I realize the IPT has gone up but I dont expect the renewal to go up by £400! Im guessing my renewal will be £950 for both vehicles.
  18. The 200t can't get 50mpg on a run unless its going at 50-60mph. It only gets about 30mpg on a good day and about 35-40mpg on a run at a decent pace. If we're talking outright economy, I know the IS300h can get over 65mpg if going at 50-60mph and its cheaper to buy like for like.
  19. I wouldn't be surprised if they've lodged it off to another dealer within their group or through auction They're offloading a 17 plate RX450h with 3k miles on it in Bridgewater for unknown reasons. Will prob be snapped up by another Lexus dealer and sold on the forecourt
  20. You can say you're a business user and get the intervals put up to 12500/1 year miles at Lexus. I wouldn't change the oil at 6k intervals - there really is no reason to, especially on the IS300h which has an NA engine. Looking at the mileage you do and the current mileage of the car, you would reach 60k miles in the 6th year so should undergo the spark plug change.
  21. Life expectancy of HID bulbs is 3000 hours or roughly 90k miles. Replacement bulbs can be found at Euro car parts or elsewhere. You need a D4S xenon bulb. I would probably change both - most likely the other one is on the way out too and bulbs have different light outputs and temperatures. Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited D4S bulbs are around £45 each - link below https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Lexus_RX+450h_3.5_2011/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/lighting1/car-bulb/?48177223N&1&272d388ad80dea4501492ee117ec19ac6e1e7e05&000384 This link will show you how to change the bulbs yourself - of course, use gloves so you don't get oil on the bulb as it will reduce longevity. It takes a while to go through but it works https://www.carcarekiosk.com/video/2010_Lexus_RX350_3.5L_V6/lights/headlight
  22. The 200t won't be much cheaper to run if anything compared to the IS250. The price difference would be a lot more in favour of the IS250. Having said that, an IS300h would give you the benefit of lower used prices than the IS200t simply because there's more to choose from and they were introduced earlier, and the benefit of good fuel economy. On a motorway run it would be around the 45-50mpg mark. Have you thought about the bangernomics approach?
  23. I wouldn't go anywhere near a multistorey in an LC. There's a multistorey in Leeds for the Leeds General Infirmary and I made the mistake of taking my 3RX in there. I managed to get up to the 1st floor after doing what was a 50 point turn on approaching the badly designed, and awfully narrow slope (it was at a 90 degree angle and had kerbs sticking 20cm out from the wall) and did another 30 point turn on the way out which was designed better. No chance I would try it in an LC!
  24. Quick 1 is based on time Short is based on shortest distance Quick 2 is probably the second quickest route
  25. Back in the day the heater matrix on that Passat wasn't too bad to get done. Nowadays its probably a different story. The fitment of the glass might cause mist on the inside, but it shouldn't be there permanently.
